Device on vessels, in particular on electric batteries, for filling these vessels with liquid up to a certain level When refilling the usual electric batteries, such as. B. car batteries, it often follows an overflow of the liquid electrolyte, which has the main disadvantage that the leaked acid as a result: 11 eats metal parts.
In order to prevent this risk, filler stoppers are used to fill such vessels with liquid. have become known up to a certain level, which have a ventilation duct and at least one filling duct for the liquid, with the outlet opening of the filling duct in the vessel being higher than the inlet opening of the ventilation duct when the plug is in place,
so that when the liquid level in the vessel rises, the opening of the venting channel is finally closed and consequently the further inflow of liquid through the filling channel into the vessel is prevented.
In practical operation has. it has been shown that in the usual constructions of this type, both when filling the liquid and when loading one with one of the; like plug provided accumulator, difficulties can arise. On the one hand, when liquid is quickly poured into a vessel provided with such a stopper, overfilling cannot always be avoided, and there is also the possibility that those formed during charging of the accumulator also exist.
Electrolyte-saturated gases rise up through the filling channels and cause a corrosive effect outside the vessel. Overfilling of the vessel cannot be prevented with such stoppers if the liquid is filled into the stopper under pressure, for example with a pipette. The reason is that in this case the air can escape from the vessel through individual, less polluted filling channels.
In order to avoid the aforementioned disadvantages of known stoppers, the object of the present invention is forming a device on vessels, in particular on electrical accumulators, for filling these vessels up to a certain level, which device has a venting channel and filling channels for the liquid whose outlet mouth is higher than the inlet mouth of the ventilation duct,
characterized by an area above the filling ducts in a filling chamber, the filling ducts at least partially covering an area, which is intended to break the filling jet and evenly supply filling fluid to all filling ducts in order to allow air to escape from the vessel through the To complicate filling channels.
The accompanying drawing illustrates an exemplary embodiment of a device according to the invention in section in FIG. 1 and in FIG. 2 in a plan view with partial section along the line II-II of FIG.
Denoted in the figures. 1 made of, plastic, Hartg tmmi or the like consist of the closure piece with a central ventilation channel 3 formed by a tube 2, which after the im not. shown Ak = accumulator housing lying mouth .1 extended towards.
is. The closure piece 1 is screwed into the cover 6 of the accumulator vessel by means of a threaded neck 5 and there are four filling channels 7 arranged around the ventilation channel 3 in a circle, which in the present example are designed as circular segments and whose mouth is at the upper end of the interior Akkumulaforgefäßes not shown, above half of the mouth 9 of the vent channel ,, 3 is located.
At the top, the filling channels 7 open into a filling space 10 which is present in the closure piece 1 and which widens towards the top and is used to fill in the electrolyte or the liquid.
In this filling space 10, an umbrella 11 is provided above the filling channels 7 and covering them with the intermediate space around the tube 2, which is intended to break the filling jet and: to feed all four filling channels evenly with filling liquid in order to allow air to escape from the vessel through the filling channels 7.
At the same time, the escape of electrolyte vapors through these filling channels 7 when charging the accumulator is prevented by these vapors rising from below condensing on the surface of the umbrella facing the filling channels, assuming that the bore 3 is covered by the liquid in the vessel.
is. In the present example, the umbrella stand 11 is formed as an annular flange, which everts ge over the ventilation pipe 2 and is attached to this in a suitable position by gluing. Preferably, the umbrella 11 is made of the same material as the closure piece 1. It can of course also be made in one piece with your 'G' closure piece 1 or with the ventilation pipe 2.
It would of course also be possible to have a screen surface fulfilling the same purpose as one formed on the wall of the closure piece 1 delimiting the filling space 10, with the filling channels. Space cover the flange to be provided.
The liquid introduced into the filling space 10 is distributed on the 11, is fed evenly to the four narrow filling channels 7 and flows into the accumulator vessel shown below, from which the air can escape through the relatively wide ventilation channel 3.
This filling is possible up to the through. the mouth 9 of the vent channel 3 determined th. Height in the vessel. As soon as the vent channel is closed at its mouth due to the increasing level of the electrolyte in the accumulator vessel, the uniform, unimpeded flow of liquid from the filling space 10 of the closure piece into the accumulator vessel stops.
By correspondingly turning back the closure piece 1. it can also be effected that the liquid that has accumulated in the filling space 1.0 flows through the filling channels 7 into the vessel so that it can be completely filled.
A cover (not shown) is also attached to the closure piece 1 in a known manner, the shape of its attachment flange being adapted to the upper end of the filling space 10 and being provided with openings that allow gases to escape.
