Device for adjusting the active length of a hairspring The present invention relates to a device for adjusting the active length of a hairspring, in particular for a timepiece balance.
This device is characterized in that it comprises at least one member having a wise pitch in which the hairspring can be engaged, as well as a funnel-shaped recess at one end of this passage, in order to facilitate the introduction of the hairspring into it.
An embodiment of the device, object of the invention, is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing in which FIG. 1 is a section taken along the line I-I of FIG. 2.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of part of the cock of a timepiece movement, with a spiral mounted using the device, object of the invention, and FIG. 3 is a partial section, along the line 111-11I, of FIG. 2.
The drawing shows only those parts of the movement of a watch which are necessary for an understanding of the invention. In fig. 1 in particular, we see a balance 1, the axis 2 of which pivots in an upper bearing carried by a cock 3. A hairspring 4 is attached as usual to the balance 1 by means of a ferrule 5, pressed on a scope of axis 2 so as to be integral with it. A racket 6 of current form is able to turn around a cockerel 7 attached to the cock 3.
Instead of the head 8 of this racket carrying a key and a pin like standard rackets, it carries a single member, which can also be seen in FIG. 3. This member is composed of a block 9 provided with a shank 10 riveted in an opening of the head 8 of the racket. The block 9 has two parallel flat faces 11 and 12 and it is fixed to the racket in such a way that these faces are perpendicular to the annular part of the racket 6, which surrounds the cockerel 7.
A conical recess 13 is hollowed out in the face 11 of the block 9 and a rectilinear notch 14 is milled in the opposite face 12 of the block 9, to a sufficient depth to form, with the recess 13, a passage 15 at least approximately rectangular. (fig. 1). The respective dimensions of the recess 13 and of the notch 14 are chosen so that the passage 15 is just a little larger than the section of the hairspring 4, so that the outer turn of the latter can pass freely. inside this passage 15.
The recess 13, in the form of a funnel, is intended to facilitate the introduction of the hairspring 4 into the passage 15.
Instead of the outer end of the hairspring 4 being attached to an arm 16 of the rooster 3 using a piton, as usual, this arm 16 carries a member for fixing the hairspring 4, comprising a cylindrical block 17 , permanently driven into a corresponding opening of the arm 16.
A round hole 18 is drilled in this block 17 perpendicular to the axis of said block. It will be noted in the drawing that this hole 18 is however not centered on the axis of the block 17. A conical recess 19 is also hollowed out in the block 17, at one of the ends of the hole 18. The dimensions of l 'recess 19 and hole 18 are chosen so that the hairspring 4 passes freely inside the hole 18 and can be inserted there easily thanks to the recess 19. It will also be noted that the block 17 is fixed in such a way to the arm 16 of cock 3, that the hole 18 extends in a direction at least approximately tangential to a circle coaxial with the shell 7.
A cylindrical housing 20, parallel to the axis of the block 17, is further drilled in the latter and a latch 21 is engaged with greasy friction in this housing 20, so that, on the one hand, the latch 21 remains in the position in which it has been placed, and that, on the other hand, the lock can be rotated if necessary, for example using a screwdriver engaged in the slotted head 22 thereof.
The relative positions of the hole 18 and of the housing 20 are chosen so as to communicate with each other to a sufficient extent for the cylindrical wall of the red worm 21 to clamp the hairspring 4 quite strongly inside. the opening 18, so that it remains properly in place.
Two flats 23 are cut in the latch 21, at a height corresponding to that of the hole 18, so that, being brought into the angular position shown in the drawing, the worm 21 completely releases the hole 18. In other tres In other words, the part of the latch situated at the height of the flats 23 constitutes a cam surface such that when the latch 21 is turned in one direction or the other, from the position shown in the drawing, it tightens pro the hairspring gradually. inside hole 18, and ends up blocking it completely. It will be noted that the free end 24 of the hairspring does not carry a peak, like the current hairspring.
The work of the adjuster is therefore simplified; it should in fact no longer pit the balance springs that have been developed. In addition, the handling of the hairspring described, in the free state, is easier than those of a running hairspring, because no eyebolt risks getting caught in the hairspring. Moreover, when the hairspring is mounted on the balance, but before the latter is put in place, the described hairspring does not run the risk of being distorted like the current spirals, in particular as a result of hooking of the peak in the arms of the balance. The end 24 of the hairspring is not fixed to the cock 3 until the latter has been placed on the movement plate.
For this purpose, one hand holds the balance 1 in an angular position such that the end 24 of the hairspring arrives against the block 9 carried by the head 8 of the racket 6. This end 24 of the spiral is then engaged in the rectangular opening 15 of the block 9, an operation which is facilitated by the funnel-shaped recess 13. When the spiral is engaged in this opening 15, the senestrorsum balance is rotated in fig 2, until the end 24 of the balance spring comes opposite the block 17 carried by the arm 16 of the cock 3. We engage then the end 24 of the spiral in the hole 18 of this block, which is also very easy because of the conical recess 19.
When the hairspring 4 is engaged in the hole 18, the balance is brought into an angular position such that the point marked by the adjuster on the hairspring is precisely engaged in the hole 18. The lock 21 is then turned using of a screwdriver, so as to block the hairspring in the hole 18 of the block 17. In order to facilitate a subsequent adjustment of the length of the hairspring, the arm 16 of the cock is cut so as to present a face 25, along from which extends the free end 24 of the hairspring 4. In addition, a graduation 26 is drawn on the arm 16 of the cock 3, along the face 25, in order to serve as a reference when moving the hairspring. with respect to the block 17. To remove the cock 3, we start by unlocking the lock 21. We can then release the hairspring from the hole 18, as well as from the passage 15 of the block 9 of the racket 6.
This disassembly operation does not deform the hairspring, as in the case of usual constructions, in which the cock is dismantled with the hairspring in place, which suspends the balance to the cock, when the latter is moved away from the plate.
The work of the hairspring in place, for example to put it flat, after the deformations it has undergone during assembly in the usual constructions, is also simplified in the case of the construction described, or even eliminated, because no moment the hairspring described is not subjected to excessive deformation during assembly or possible disassembly.
