In watch cases screwed bottom, the bottom has either an external thread cooperating with an internal thread of the middle part, or an internal thread cooperating for example with an external thread of a ring fixed under the movement of the watch . The coupling of the bottom on the watch case is done by screwing with a tool cooperating with jaw or recess that includes the outer face of the bottom. A seal is provided with some flexibility. In the screwed-in position, the bottom generally abuts on a shoulder of the middle part of the watch case.
This type of fixing of the bottom of a watch case is satisfactory as long as the angular position of the bottom once fully screwed in the service position of the watch case is not critical.
For aesthetic reasons it is desirable that when the bottom is fixed in the service position on the watch case, the claws or other training formations for screwing the bottom, are distributed symmetrically with respect to the axis 6H -12H from the watch box. This is very difficult to achieve because the positioning of the threads and abutting surfaces against each other can not be calculated accurately enough. An axial displacement of the bottom relative to the box of one hundredth of a millimeter already leads to an inaccuracy of the order of 5 [deg.] To 10 [deg.] Of the angular positioning of the bottom relative to the box.
If this unsymmetrical positioning is already disturbing for funds without decorations, it becomes inadmissible for funds with an engraving whose angular position must, in the service position of the bottom, be perfectly indexed on the watch case to not alter the aesthetics of the watch case.
The present invention aims to achieve a screwed-down watch case for adjusting and indexing the angular position of the bottom when it is in the service position screwed on the watch case to make so that an engraving or decor of the bottom can be placed in a desired angular position relative to the watch case when the bottom is in the service position.
[0006] A solution to this problem is known from document EP 1 890 203 in which a bottom screwed on an intermediate element which is itself screwed to the middle part of the box is described. This system makes it possible to adjust the angular position of service of the bottom relative to the box but has the disadvantage of not being able to precisely define a tightening torque of the bottom on the box. Indeed, the bottom when it bears on the middle part can continue to rotate relative to the box, the intermediate element then moving axially. Only the friction thus determines the tightening torque of the bottom which is not acceptable.
The present invention relates to a screwed-down watch case tending to obviate the aforementioned drawbacks and to achieve the purpose referred to above which is distinguished by the fact that the middle part or an integral fastening element of this middle part comprises a second thread in the same direction as the first thread of the bottom and cooperating therewith; in that it further comprises an adjusting ring comprising a third thread cooperating with a fourth thread of the bottom or middle part, this third thread of the adjusting ring and the fourth thread of the bottom or the middle part being in the opposite direction at the first thread of the bottom; and in that the adjusting ring constitutes an adjustable stop defining the angular service position of the bottom relative to the middle part.
The accompanying drawing illustrates schematically and by way of example two embodiments of the watch case according to the invention.
<tb> Fig. 1 <sep> is a perspective view from above of an assembled watch case.
<tb> Fig. 2 <sep> is a perspective view from below of the watch case shown in FIG. 1.
<tb> Fig. 3 <sep> illustrates an exploded view of the constituent elements of the watch case illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2.
<tb> Fig. 4 <sep> is a partial sectional view of the watch case illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2.
<tb> Fig. <Sep> illustrates a partial section of a second embodiment of the watch case.
Figs. 1 to 4 illustrate a first embodiment of a watch case having a screwed bottom whose angular position of service, screwed on the box with the required torque prescribed, can be adjusted, adjusted or indexed easily to the mounting of the box . This is particularly useful and necessary for funds having a decor or marks to be arranged in the service position according to an axis of symmetry of the watch case.
In this first embodiment, the watch case comprises a caseband 1 comprising fastening lugs 2 which are housed in recesses 3 which comprises a watch movement 4 and serving to fix said movement 4 on this caseband 1. A bezel 5 is fixed on the upper part of the middle part, a seal 6 being provided between these two elements, and a lens 7 is fixed in the opening of the bezel 5, an ice seal 8 ensuring the between these two elements. A decoration or flange 9 is provided to be screwed on a dial (not shown) which is fixed on the upper part of the movement 4. In this embodiment the movement 4 is fixed on the middle part 1 by screws 10 passing through the legs fixing 2 of the middle 1 and screwing in the periphery of the movement 4.
An annular fixing element 11 is screwed against the underside of the movement 4. This fastener 11 comprises a second thread 12 on its outer cylindrical wall. This fixing element 11 has an upper opening having a diameter smaller than its lower opening so that it has a shoulder 13 located approximately in its median plane. This fastening element 11, screwed under the movement 4, is thus fixed rigidly to the middle part 1 by means of the movement 4. In the assembled position, the lower face of this fixing ring 11 is situated substantially in the same plane as the face. lower part of the middle part 1.
The bottom of the illustrated watch case comprises a ring 14 whose central opening is closed by a bottom window 15 sealingly mounted with a bottom ice seal 16 on the ring 14. The periphery of this ring 14 comprises a groove 17 receiving a bottom seal 18 compressed radially in position of the bottom assembled on the watch case between the bottom of said groove 17 and the inner cylindrical wall 19 of the lower end of the caseband 1 .
The ring 14 of the bottom has an annular groove 20 opening on its inner face 21 facing the inside of the watch case whose outer wall has a first thread 22 corresponding to the second thread 12 of the fastener element. 11. The inner wall of this annular groove 20 has a fourth thread 23. The watch case further comprises an adjusting ring 24 having on its internal face a third thread 25 corresponding to the fourth thread 23 of the ring 14. This ring Adjustment 24 has a bearing face 26 intended to bear against the shoulder 13 of the fastening element 11 in the service position of the bottom assembled on the watch case.
The fourth thread 23 of the ring 14 has a reverse pitch of the first thread 22 of the ring 14 as the third internal thread 25 of the adjusting ring 24 has a reverse pitch of the second thread 12 of the fixing ring.
The establishment of the bottom is as follows: Once the movement 4 fixed on the middle part 1 and the fastening element 11 fixed on the movement 4 this fastening element is integral with the middle part 1.
We screw the adjusting ring 24 in the groove 20 of the ring 14 of the bottom of the watch case with the third 25 and fourth 23 corresponding threads. The ring 14 is then screwed onto the fixing element 11 with the aid of the first 22 and second corresponding threads until the bearing face 26 of the adjusting ring 24 abuts the shoulder 13. of the fastening element with the desired pressure, or with a preset tightening torque. If the angular position of the bottom is not that desired, the ring 14 is unscrewed and adjusts the position of the adjusting ring 24 on the ring 14 accordingly.
Then the ring 14 is screwed again onto the fixing ring with the predetermined tightening torque and so on by successive approximations the bottom is coupled to the watch case with a predetermined tightening torque and having adjusted the angular position of the bottom relative to the box at the desired position for which the bottom sees its axis of symmetry coincides with the axis of symmetry of the watch case.
It should be noted that by screwing the bottom 14 on the fastener 11 the adjusting ring 24 can not be rotated when it abuts against the fastening element 11 since the pitch of the fourth and third threads 23, 25 of this adjusting ring 24 on the ring 14 is opposite to the pitch of the first and second threads 22, 12 of the ring 14 on the fastening element 11. The angular position of the bottom relative to to the box is thus determined by the position of the adjusting ring relative to the ring 14 of the bottom. Another advantage of this solution is that the bottom is screwed directly onto a piece rigidly fixed to the watch case.
[0017] A second embodiment of the watch case is illustrated in FIG. 5.
In this second embodiment, the watch case comprises a caseband 1 provided with an ice cream 7 and a bottom 14 having a bottom plate 15.
In this second embodiment the bottom 14 also comprises a first thread 22 cooperating with a second thread 12 formed in the wall of the lower opening of the middle part 1 itself. The second thread 12 is thus fixed with respect to the middle part 1 as is the case in the first embodiment where this second thread is carried by the fastening element 11.
The adjusting ring 24 has a third thread 25 cooperating with a fourth thread 23 formed on the outer wall of an annular groove formed in the lower face of the middle part 1.
The lower face of the ring 24 constitutes the abutment 26 cooperating with a shoulder 13 of the bottom 14 to define the screwed service position of the bottom 14 on the middle part 1.
The fourth thread 23 of the middle 1 and the third thread 25 of the adjusting ring 24 are opposite to the first thread 22 of the bottom.
The adjusting ring 24 is screwed either on the bottom 14 or on the middle 1 but the pitch of the third thread 25 it carries is always in the opposite direction to that of the first thread 22 of the bottom 14.
The adjustment ring 24 is in all embodiments of the device an adjustable stop defining the axial position, and consequently angular, the bottom 14 relative to the middle part 1 in service position screwed with the couple preset tightening.
The bottom 14 of the watch case is always screwed for fixing and closing the box by a first thread 22 that it cooperates with a second thread 12 carried either by the middle part 1 itself or by a fastening element 11 integral with this middle part 1.
The adjusting ring 24 has a third thread 25 cooperating with a fourth thread 23 carried by the bottom 14 or the middle 1. This third thread 25 as well as the fourth thread 23 are opposite to the first thread 22 of the background. This makes it possible to avoid an angular displacement of the ring 24 during the screwing of the bottom 14.
