Hydraulic machine The present invention relates to a hydraulic machine comprising a wheel with orientable blades, capable of being brought transversely to the stream of water and provided with a brake making it possible to ensure that the machine stops when its engine torque has reached. been brought to a certain value.
The machine according to the invention is characterized in that the pivot axis of the blades is arranged so that the latter, under the action of water, tend to position themselves transversely to the current. of water, the brake itself being controlled by said blades to come into action when the latter arrive at a transverse position corresponding to a value of the engine torque close to zero.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the hydraulic machine according to the invention, in axial section.
The hydraulic machine shown in the drawings is formed by a turbine provided in this case with a Kaplan wheel 1 with a horizontal axis of rotation. This wheel 1 rotates in a cylindrical channel 2 and is provided with orientable blades 3. The journals 4 of these blades 3 are arranged so. that, under the effect of the water pressure, the blades 3 tend to position themselves automatically transversely to the water current, thus slowing down as much as possible the water flow in the channel 2. In fact, the active surface of the part of each blade 3 situated upstream of the extension of the geometrical axis of rotation of the journals 4 (that is to say that which includes the leading edge of the blade) is greater than the active surface of the part of each blade 3 located downstream of said geometric axis of journal 4.
As a result, under the effect of the water pressure, the blades 3 tend to approach more and more the position in which they close the flow channel of the water to the maximum. through the machine.
This wheel 1 is carried by an axis 5, rotating in a bearing 6, supported by a frame 7, mounted on arms 8 which themselves constitute a fixed distributor of water in the turbine.
This frame 7 constitutes a sealed chamber, immersed in the stream of water and in which an electric generator 9 is disposed. For this purpose, the stator 10 of this generator is carried by the frame 7 and its rotor 11 is made integral with the axis 5 of the turbine by a tubular axis 12, itself made integral with the axis 5 by studs 13. A thrust bearing is arranged at 14 to withstand the axial forces acting on the rotating parts of the group.
. The control mechanism of the orientable blades 3 comprises a rod 15, sliding along the axis of rotation of the wheel 1 and of the rotor 11. This rod 15 carries at one of its ends a spider 16 to which links 17 are articulated, articulated, on the other hand, themselves to a lever 18, keyed on each of the journals 4 of the blades 3. The rod 15 also carries a piston 19 capable of sliding in a cylinder 20 provided in the central part of the rotor 11 This cylinder 20 is closed on the left side by a flange 21, carrying in its central part the bearings 22 of a second bearing of the group.
These bearings 22 bear on a journal 23 itself supported by a flange 24, arranged transversely in the sealed chamber surrounding the electric generator. In its central part, this flange 24 carries a drum 25 on the bottom of which is fixed a lining of friction material 26. A disc 27 constituting a brake for the rotating parts of the group is keyed in the vicinity of the left end of the unit. the rod 15. This disc 27, which is integral in rotation with the wheel 1, is designed to be driven in axial displacement by the rod 15 to be brought into contact with the lining 26 when the blades 3 are arranged transversely to the current of water.
The axial movements of the piston 19 with a view to controlling the orientation of the blades 3 are caused by oil pressure acting on the two faces of the piston 19. For this purpose, pipes 28 and 29 put the space into communication. 30, 31 respectively, of the cylinder 20 with a distributor, not shown and located outside the sealed chamber 7. As shown in the drawing, these conduits 28 and 29 pass through a sheath 32 through which also pass the electric current conducting cables. 33 as well as a ribbon 34 for slaving the distributor to the control rod 15 of the blades 3. In fact, this rod 15 carries at its left end a ring 35, in which a ring 36 articulated to a ring can freely rotate. servo lever 37 pivoted at 38 relative to the fixed frame of the group.
The tape 34 is hooked to the end 39 of said servo lever 37. In addition, a fixed casing 40 surrounds the hollow shaft 12 and the corresponding side of the rotor 11 of the generator. As seen in the drawing, the pressurized oil supply to space 30 from. of the pipe 28 is made by the intermediary of a channel 41, provided in the flange 24 and a channel 42 pierced in the rod 15. The space 31 of the cylinder 20 is in communication with the pipe 29 by through a channel 43 drilled in the journal 23 and the flange 24.
The operation of the machine described with reference to the appended drawing is as follows. In normal operation, pressurized oil is sent into space 30 through pipe 28 to act on piston 19 and to counterbalance the force of the water which tends to cause the blades 3 to pivot to bring them into a transverse position in the channel 2. Of course, the running of the machine is then controlled in a known manner by a regulator, not shown, located outside the chamber sealed 7 near the pressurized oil distributor. The oil leaks escaping from the space 30 of the cylinder 20 and passing between the shaft 5 and the rod 15 are used to lubricate the bearings 6 and 14, this through a channel 44, drilled transversely in the tree 5.
Likewise, oil leaks from the space 31 lubricate the bearing 22 of the group. The oil which escapes through these various leaks reaches the chamber 7 and escapes through the sheath 32 to a recovery tank. This recovery tank, the spool valve, the pump supplying pressurized oil as well as the regulator are placed in the plant room containing the control members of the hydroelectric group.
When it is desired to bring the blades 3 of the wheel 1 to the closed position, pressurized oil is sent via the distributor and the pipe 29 into the space 31 of the cylinder 20. At the same time, the distributor exhausts through line 28 the oil contained in space 30 of said cylinder 20. The blades 3 then close under the combined action of hydraulic thrust and the oil pressure acting on the upstream face of the piston 19. If the intention is to stop the hydroelectric group, the oil pressure is sent to space 31 until the blades 3 are placed transversely. in the channel 2. When they reach this position, the disc 27 rubs against the lining 26 to finally block the rotating parts of the group.
As can be seen from the foregoing description, it is not compulsory to send pressurized oil into space 31 to cause the group to stop. Indeed, even in the event of damage occurring to the pump supplying the pressurized oil, it suffices to put the space 30 in the exhaust so that the hydraulic thrust, acting on the blades 3, automatically causes the progressive closing. these and simultaneously the entry into action of the brake 26, 27, intended to block the wheel 1 and the rotor 11 of the generator.
This construction has the advantage of making it possible to eliminate any valve located upstream of the group in the water supply channel.
The construction of the hydroelectric plant is therefore simplified and particularly advantageous for the equipment of low and medium waterfalls.
Numerous construction modifications could be made to the construction of the embodiment shown in the drawing. For example, the control of the orientation of the blades 3, instead of being done by oil pressure, could also be done by pure mechanical means. Likewise, the generator 9, instead of being placed in a sealed chamber 7 submerged in the stream of water, could be placed in a well communicating from above with the room containing the group control members. As a further variant, said generator 9, instead of being placed upstream of wheel 1 relative to the stream of water, could be placed downstream of said wheel.
It should be noted that axis 5 could directly drive any receiving machine, for example a pump. The receiving machine could be located outside the location of the hydraulic machine. The hydraulic machine can also be designed to operate as a turbine and a pump.
The present invention also includes a hydraulic machine, the distributor of which is only fixed if the latter has directri these pivoting vanes.
