EXEMPLE I <I>A.

<SEP> red <SEP> ruby The sulfatoalkyl, sulfoalkyl, phosphatoalkyl or phosphonoalkyl groups, which can be included in the new dyes prepared according to the invention, can be in the free acid state or in the state of any salt suitable, such as, for example, sodium, potassium, ammonium, magnesium, calcium or lithium salts.
The azo dyes obtained by the process of the invention can be applied to the textile materials indicated above, in the form of an aqueous dispersion, which is their usual mode of use. For example, the colorant is finely ground with a dispersing agent, such as sodium lignin sulfonate, Turkish red oil, soap or oleyl glyceryl sulfate, then dispersed in water the mixture. got.
The dyeing bath thus prepared is heated to a temperature of about 450-55o C, then the textile material to be dyed is immersed in this bath, after which the temperature is gradually raised to 80 -90 C and maintained. at this level until the dyeing operation is complete, which usually takes half an hour to two hours. During dyeing, the textile material is occasionally agitated to obtain a uniform dyeing. When the dyeing is completed, the textile material is taken out of the bath, washed with soapy water, rinsed thoroughly with water and dried.
A wide variety of colourants can be used for dyeing. The amount of dye used can be, for example, 1/300 to 3/100 of the weight of the textile material, although smaller or greater amounts of dye can be used.
