Direction indicating device for a two-wheeled motor vehicle The present invention relates to a direction indicator device for a two-wheeled motor vehicle, characterized in that it comprises in a housing two solid pulleys of different diameters and a movable member of elongated shape able to occupy along its major axis and with respect to the housing two extreme positions, one in which it is retracted inside the housing and the other in which it is mainly in the outside of the case,
said member being on the one hand connected to the housing by a spring and on the other hand secured to the pulley of larger diameter, the whole being such that when a control member rotates the louse of smaller diameter, the pulley of larger diameter drives the movable member from its retracted position to its position outside the housing, said movable member being returned to its retracted position by the spring when the action of the control member ceases.
The appended drawing shows by way of example an embodiment of the device forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a sectional elevation following A -A of FIG. 3.
Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof with the housing cover removed.
Fig. 3 is a section on B-B of FIG. 1. The device shown comprises a box composed of a base 1 and a cover 2. On the base 1 is fixed a tube 3 having a lateral slot 4. In the vicinity of one of its ends, the tube 3 carries an axis 5 per pendicular to the base of the housing and on which freely rotate two integral pulleys, of different diameters 6 and 7. In the vicinity of its other end and on the side of the slot 4 the tube 3 carries an axis 8 perpendicular to the axis 5 and on which a louse turns freely 9.
Inside the tube 3 slides a movable organ consisting of a cylinder 10 made of transparent plastic containing a conductive mat 11 in which is mounted an electric bulb 12. This armature 11 -is connected to the end of the tube located on the side of the pulleys 6 and 7 by a coil spring 13. It also carries on this same side an extension 14 serving as a support for a pin 15 passing through the side slot, the latter thus serving as guide to the cylinder 10 during its movements. To this pin 15 is fixed a flexible link 16 which passes over the pulley 9 to be fixed by its other end to the pulley of larger diameter 7 so as to be able to wind up there during the rotation of this pulley.
Around the pulley of smaller diameter 6 is wound the end of a control cable 17 which passes through a metal sheath 18 and the other end of which is connected to a handle or to a pedal, not shown. Inside the housing and in the vicinity of the lateral slot 4 is placed a metal blade 19 constituting an electrical contact on which the shaft 15 rubs during the displacement of the movable member. The blade 19 is connected to one pole of the vehicle's electrical circuit, the other pole being connected to the housing, the circuit closing through the bulb by means of the spring.
The operation of the device is as follows: by acting on the control cable, it unwinds from the pulley 6 by causing the flexible link 16 to be wound up on the pulley 7. This drives the movable member 10 outside the tube 3. During the movement the axis 15 comes into contact with the blade 19 and closes the circuit of the bulb 12 which lights up. When we stop acting on the control cable, the spring 13 returns the movable member to its retracted position. By means of pulleys 6 and 7 of different diameters, it can be seen that by a relatively small displacement of the control cable, a sufficiently large displacement of the movable organ is obtained.
The smaller diameter pulley could have teeth meshing with a chain or a rack attached to the control cable. The pulley of larger diameter could also have teeth that engender a rack integral with the movable member.
