Washing machine. There are models of washing machines, the principle of operation of which is a turbine. continuous rotation, arranged at the bottom or along the. wall of a tank and rotating in a detergent solution, to. which it communicates a rotational movement and whose cavitation is prevented by obstacles arranged inside said tank, which allows the laundry to be stirred vigorously in said solution.
These efficient machines for washing certain linens, such as tea towels, overalls, blouses, have the drawback of causing too rapid a test of the. ordinary linen and especially fine lingerie. Also, many machines of this kind cannot. be used for spinning the laundry, because of the. form that the. tank, in order to break the movement. liquid dtr cavitation.
There are many other types of washing machines, such as in particular those equipped with removable beater arms or agitators; but, like the previous ones, they subject the laundry to (the too hard treatments.
In order to obviate. these drawbacks, the. holder of. already. describes, in another patent, a washing machine comprising. use in combination, inside a fixed tank, a turbine and. of the basket, with immersed operation, simultaneously controlled by one and. the other intermittently, to obtain automatically. alternations of soaking .du laundry in a detergent solution and. the expul @ - s-ion of it through it.
This machine which, in the same basket, can ensure successively. washing, rinsing and spinning the laundry allows, without at any risk of premature wear and tear, the washing of any laundry, but has the drawback of lacking in efficiency and especially in the case of washing some. heavily soiled laundry, such as including. tea towels or blueprints.
In order to remedy this drawback, the object of the present invention is a machine capable of ensuring, on the one hand, washing according to two different principles, depending on the type of laundry to be washed and, on the other hand, spinning. of this laundry in the same tub of the. machine.
This machine comprising a fixed tank, a centrifugal turbine placed in its bottom and driven in rotation by a motor, a removable basket with a perforated wall, a removable cross groove having., On one of its faces, a pivot intended for:
centering of said basket and, comprising., on its other face, means intended to oppose the phenomenon of cavitation of the liquid, is characterized in that its tumbine is arranged so as to be able to be used, either to ensure rapid movements to the detergent solution and to the laundry contained directly in the tub, in the case of the rapid washing of heavily soiled laundry, the basket then being removed from the tub and the removable cross being placed so as to present the washing liquid with its means by catching.
cavitation, either to ensure the dragging of the basket disposed in the tank and whose bottom, full, has a relief allowing it to be driven in rotation by the turbine, itself driven in rotation intermittently and alternately .
in one direction and in the other, said basket being immersed in the detergent solution, with a view to alternating imbibition of the laundry by the latter and expulsion of the latter through the latter, the removable spider being arranged so that the pivot that it carries ensures the centering of the basket, or, to ensure the drive of said basket, continuously, in the tank previously emptied of the detergent solution, in order to carry out the spinning washed laundry.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment: of the machine forming the subject of the invention FIG. 1 and 2 are leaks respectively in section along 1-1 of fig. \ .3 and. in Dar plan above, during washing period without basket.
Fig. 3 and 4 are. the same views, in period of washing with basket or in period of boom ce.
The machine shown comprises a tank 1, of circular section, crossed at its bottom by a. shaft 2 being able to stretch, driven in rotation either continuously or discontinuously, with alternation of its direction of rotation. On this shaft 2 is wedged, above the bottom of the tank 1, a centrifugal turbine 3 consisting of a plate bearing, in relief, radial vanes and provided, at its periphery, with a ring 4 in flexible material, such as in particular: cao.-utchoue ..
A removable basket 5, with a perforated side wall, and of a somewhat smaller diameter than that of the. tank 1, has a solid bottom 5c, with a profile complementary to that of the turbine 3, in order to allow the latter to drive said rotation. basket.
The latter is closed by a removable cover ô carrying, in its center, on its upper face, a conical bowl 7, in which a pivot 8 is fixed to the central boss 9 of a cross formed by three arms 10; each key these is terminated by a flexible stop 12 intended to engage elastically in (the hollows formed by bos wise 13 of the wall of the tank 1.
The arms 10 of this centering cross member, on the other hand, on their face opposite to that on the pivot side 8, blades 14 fixed to said arms by means of rivets and made of flexible material, such as in particular rubber and intended , when they are immersed in the detergent solution, to oppose the key cav itation phenomenon which tends to occur.
A drain port 15 is. placed at the bottom of the tank 1. Cet. east drain port. provided with means for its closure.
The machine shown and described is used as follows In the case of washing heavily soiled laundry such as: overalls, overalls, tea towels or other non-delicate linens, the machine is, as shown in fig. 1 and \? -, used in basket 5. The laundry is then put directly into tank 1, which is filled. detergent solution up to a level depending on the amount of laundry to be washed.
The spider 10 is then put into position. in the tank, key such that its blades 1.1 are directed downwards.
It should be noted, moreover, that the cross groove can be placed either in the position shown in fig. 1, or in a lower position, the. tank 1 comprising, at this. indeed, a lower row of bosses 13a .; either the bosses 13 or. the bosses 1.3a., following, the same quantity of liquid key, and therefore of linen, contained in the tank 1.
As soon as the turbine 3 is started, then animated by a movement. of continuous rotation, the liquid is, as shown by the arrows in fig. 1 and 2, forced to. move first in the axis of the turbine, then in the direction of the periphery of the tank; it then rises to the top of it, and. then tends to rotate in the same direction as the turbine; but, braked by the blades 14 of the spider 10. it returns to the center of the turbine, and so on.
The laundry is itself forced to have a displacement, similar to that of the liquid is. thus energetically brazed and. so quickly washed off.
He is at. note that any introduction of laundry between the bottom of the tank and the turbine 3 is made impossible, because, during the. rotation thereof, the flexible ring 4 which is integral with it deforms until it comes, by its periphery, in contact with the base .clé the tank, as shown in dotted lines in FIG. 1.
In the case of washing phis Déli cat laundry, or to complete the above washing, the. machine is, as shown in fig. 3 and 4, used with the basket 5. The latter resting on the turbine 3 is centered thanks to the spider 10 which, in the inverted position with respect to that of FIGS. 1 and 2, comes. by its pivot 8 resting in the coni bowl 7 of the lid 6 of the basket.
The centering of the spider 10 is itself obtained by taking support key flexible ends 12 of its arms. inside the bosses 13 of the. tank 1.
The laundry to be washed being contained in the basket 5 and the latter being immersed, the motor shaft 2 and therefore the basket 5 are driven in rotation in a discontinuous manner, with alternations of the direction of rotation, by performing a time stop, between each rotation of the pallet, so that one thus obtains, alternately and automatically, alternations of imbibition of the laundry in the detergent solution and the expulsion of the latter through thereof, said solution escaping through the perforated wall of basket 5, under the effect of centrifugal force, during rotation of said basket.
When the washing is finished, the tub 1 is. emptied of the detergent solution, soiled, which it then contains; this emptying is carried out through the orifice 15 provided for this purpose, in the bottom of the. tank 1. The same orifice is used, cl'ailleum, for emptying, in the case of use. of the machine according to the process shown in fig. 1 and 2.
After washing, the rinsing is carried out; it is carried out in the same way as washing with the only difference that the detergent solution is replaced by pure water. After rinsing, the spinning is carried out. This is done without having to take the laundry out of the basket 5 or take the basket 5 out of the tank 1.
The spinning is, in fact, carried out in a manner similar to washing and rinsing with the only difference that the motor shaft 2 - and therefore the basket 5 are dragged in rotation in a continuous manner, and that the liquid evacuating out of basket 5, through its. perforated wall, under the effect of centrifugal force, is discharged directly through the drain port 15.
