Zusatzpatent zum Hauptpatent Nr. 284915. Differentialschutzeinrichtung.
Additional patent to main patent no. 284915. Differential protection device. The main patent deals with a differential protective device in which the protective relay is influenced not only by the differential current but also by the through current. The arrangement is chosen in such a way that these two currents are rectified in the opposite sense and act on the relay. Means are provided in this relay circuit which counteract the flow of the transit current to the relay.
In this way it can be achieved that the response characteristic of the relay showing the relationship between the differential current and the through-current runs in such a way that when the through-current increases, the differential current, i.e. the relay responds, initially remains approximately constant and then after a Kink increases.
This means that the response sensitivity of the protection has a certain, essentially constant value for a certain low current range, but that this sensitivity of the protection then decreases from a certain level of the through current. These means that counteract the flow of through current are given in the subject of the main patent by a direct current source that is inserted into the relay circuit.
The subject of the invention is a further embodiment of the differential protection device of the type dealt with in the main patent. According to the invention, the means counteracting the flow of the through current consist of a non-linear resistor, in particular a rectifier. In this way it is possible to force the desired characteristic curve of the relay without a special voltage source being required. The rectifier used as a nonlinear resistance will preferably be built up from a series connection of individual dry rectifier disks.
This rectifier is dimensioned in such a way that, similar to the main patent, the response characteristic of the relay runs in such a way that when the through current increases, the differential current at which the relay responds initially remains constant and then increases after a kink.
You can build the protective device in different ways. For example, it is possible to work with a single protective relay, similar to the main patent. In some applications, however, it is also advantageous to use two relays as protective relays, one of which (coarse relay) works with low damping and responds at a higher current value, while the second (fine relay) works with stronger damping and already responds at a lower current value.
Such a division into two protective relays is particularly important for the protection of transformers, where one. It must be important that the relatively short-term high current peaks that occur when switching on do not trigger the protective device. The fine relay does not respond due to its stronger damping during the switch-on process, while with such a protective device, the coarse relay, which works with low damping, ensures a brief switch-off in normal operation when high current values occur.
The sensitivity of the two relays will be made adjustable by parallel resistors. In the following, exemplary embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail.
In FIG. 1, 1 denotes an apparatus to be protected, for example a regulating transformer. With 2 three current transformers are designated on the input side, with 3 three current transformers on the output side. The secondary sides of these two current transformer groups are in series. The difference between the currents in converters 2 and 3, ie the differential current (fault current), is recorded by a group of converters 4, while the through current is recorded by group of converters 5.
Rectifier groups 6 to 9 are connected to the secondary sides of the converter groups 4 and 5, so that the through currents IL or differential currents ID act on the protective relay 10 in the opposite sense after they have been rectified. A resistor 11 is located parallel to the relay 10, and a dry-type rectifier 12 is located in the connecting line between the two lower connection points, the resistor 11 and the relay 10.
This rectifier serves to counteract the flow of the through current. By suitably dimensioning the rectifier, the resistance of which changes depending on the voltage occurring at the resistor 11, the response characteristic of the real, which reflects the relationship between the differential current ID and the through current IL, runs like this that with increasing through current, the differential current at which the relay responds initially remains about constant and then increases after a kink.
Such a kinked characteristic curve is indicated by Ki, K2 in FIG. 3.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in Fig. 1, only one protective relay 10 is seen before. As already mentioned above, in some forms of application of the invention, it is also possible to use two protective relays with advantage. In Fig. 2 a Ausfüh is shown approximately for this purpose. In this figure, only that section of the protective device is shown which corresponds to the parts 10, 17 and 12 of FIG. Instead of the one protective relay 10 of FIG. 1, two protective relays 13, 14 are provided in this case.
The relay 13 is a coarse relay that works with low damping and responds at a higher current value, while the relay 14 is the fine relay that works with stronger damping and already responds at a lower current value. 4 shows the response characteristics of these two relays as a function of the response time t "over the differential current ID. K3 is the response characteristic for the coarse relay, which only responds at a higher current value, for example 1 - IN (normal current).
The response characteristic for the precision relay is designated with K4, which already responds to a lower current value of, for example, 0.2 - IN .
In order to adjust the sensitivity of the two relays 13 and 14, the parallel resistors 15 and 16 are easily seen.
In Fig. 3 it is shown that the break point P1 of the response characteristic of the protective relay (of the fine relay 14) when the sensitivity of this relay is changed by the associated control resistor 16 moves essentially along a straight line g.
By using a rectifier 17 lying parallel to the fine relay 14, which ensures that the voltage at 13, 14 rises less than proportionally as the relay current increases, it is possible to counteract this shift in the break point, i.e. the break point - As indicated in Fig. 3 by the dashed lines daräestellt - if the sensitivity of the relay 14 is lowered along the curve K5, it can be achieved that this breakpoint over a large sensitivity range close to the value for the normal current IN lies.
