One-way clutch. The present invention relates to a one-way clutch, comprising two rotating or-anes having coaxial annular paths, radially spaced, shims arranged between these paths and shaped in such a way that they make these solid members one on the other in a direction of rotation of one (the components relative to each other, and at least one spring engaged in notches formed in the wedges and urging these latter to keep them in contact with said paths It is necessary to provide means to prevent the spring from accidentally falling out of the notches.
This is done in some known constructions (the shim by forming notched notches so that the tension of the spring keeps the latter in the notched part and. Prevents accidental release. The notching of the notches complicates the manufacture of the shims and (. Moreover, as the notches have parallel sides, only one side is, thus notched. Shims can be stressed either by radially contracting springs or by radially expanding springs. However, the same shims cannot be stressed. used for these two kinds of springs because the notching of the notches allows only one of the constructions to be retained.
The purpose of the. The present invention is to obtain a construction of a retaining member for the spring, which makes it possible to avoid the need to cut the notches formed in the wedges.
The clutch according to the invention is characterized in that it further comprises means for retaining said spring in the notches, means comprising a thin plate placed between adjacent wedges and having a notch in alignment with the notches of said wedges. adjacent, through which passes said spring which is thus prevented from disengaging from these notches.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the clutch which is the subject of the invention.

Fig. 4 is a section on a larger scale taken by line 4-4 of FIG. 3.
Fig. 5 is an elevational view of a detail.
The fi.g. 6 is a view on a larger scale of part of the, FIG. 3.
Fig. 7 is a plan view showing a phase of the assembly of the clutch shims.
FIG. 8 is a view of a detail of FIG. 7. As shown in fig.3. A denotes the inner rotary member and B the outer rotary member of a one-way clutch, these two rotary members having. coaxial annular paths and. radially spaced.
Wedges C are arranged in series between the annular paths of the rotary members, these wedges each having two notches D in its opposite side faces, the two sides of which are plane and parallel to each other. the other.
In these notches are engaged two helical springs E and E 'which urge the wedges to keep them in contact with the paths, so that these wedges, when the member B rotates in a direction determined relative. to the member A, can get stuck by friction between the paths and thus make the members A and P. integral in rotation.
A retaining member r, of the same length as the wedges, is arranged between a pair of adjacent wedges in the space comprised between the interior paths and. outside. This retaining member F is constituted by a thin plate whose side edges have notches G and G 'which are in alignment with the notches of the pair of adjacent wedges and which have a diameter such that the springs E, E':
are retained, these in sizes having a side entry H of width smaller than the diameter of the springs. There are preferably three retaining members F equidistant around the annular paths. After placing the retaining members in the series of wedges, the springs E, E 'can be placed in the notches D and simultaneously engaged in the retaining members F.
Such engagement is achieved by twisting at least one turn of each res out, to further incline this turn and. pass it to. through the entry FI, thus bringing it into engagement with the notch G, as shown in fig. 5. When each spring is released, it assumes the position shown in fig. 6 where it is retained in the notch G. Thus, the member F forms a spacer between the two springs E and E 'and keeps them engaged in the notches D.
Instead of having everything. first a series of wedges and the retaining members in the space between the annular paths and then engage the springs in the notches G, G 'and. the notches D, these elements can be assembled so as to form a rectilinear assembly, as shown in fig.7, which can. then be inserted between the annular paths of the clutch.
The two helical springs Ec are rectilinear and are engaged in the notches D of a rectilinear series of wedges extending transversely, several retaining members F being inserted at different points in the series. Before. to be placed between the rotating members A and B, this. together is. first bent to give it an annular shape and the opposite ends of the springs E? are. connected to each other.
Such a connection can be achieved, for example, by using a connecting spring ES of slightly smaller diameter, which is screwed into the coils of the spring L'2 to make the seal, between the opposite ends thereof, as shown in fig. 8.
Although an embodiment has been shown comprising. three retaining bodies it is. obvious that the number of these parts could be different according to the number of shims in the series. In the embodiment shown, there are 32 wedges, but for a greater number, for example for 52, 7 retainers can be used. For a smaller series, we can. using less than 3 retainers or even a single retainer may be sufficient in some constructions.
