Additional patent to main patent no. 301811. Process for the production of a cobalt-containing azo dye. It has been found that a new, valuable, cobalt-containing azo dye can be obtained by using a mixture of the two monoazo dyes that correspond to the formulas
EMI0001.0009
corresponding, lets cobalt-releasing agents act in such a way,
da.ss a cobalt-containing azo dye is created, which contains one molecule of each of the two starting monoazo dyes bound to a cobalt atom in a complex.
The new cobalt-containing dye is a water-soluble powder that dyes wool from weakly alkaline, neutral or weakly acetic acid baths in olive tones of good light and washfastness.
The two monoazo dyes used as starting materials in the present process can be prepared by methods known per se by dianotated 6-acetylamino-4-nitro-2-amino-1-oxybenzene with 1.-acetylamino-7-oxynaphthalene and diazo- 2-Amino-1-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid methyIainic1 couples with 1-acetoacetylamino-2-chlorobenzene in an alkaline medium.
When carrying out the process, it is generally advisable to add a cobalt-releasing agent containing about one gram atom of cobalt to a mixture consisting of about 2 moles of monoazo dye and containing about 1 mole of each of the two dyes used as starting materials use and / or perform the metal plating in a weakly acidic to alkaline medium.
For example, simple cobalt salts such as cobalt acetate or complex cobalt compounds of aliphatic o-oxycarboxylic acids which contain the cobalt in complex bonds are particularly well suited as cobalt-releasing agents for carrying out the process.
The lapping of the dyes in the complex cobalt compounds takes place advantageously in the heat, openly or under pressure, e.g. B. at the boiling point of the reac tion mixture, where appropriate in the presence of suitable additives, z.
B. in the presence of salts of organic acids, bases, organic solvents or other agents that promote complex formation, Example: 4.23 parts of the dye from dianotized 6 - acetylamino-4 - nitro - 2 - amino - 1- oxy benzene and 1.-acetylamino-7-oxynaphthalene and .1.2-I parts of the dye from dianotated 2-amino -1-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid methyl
amide and 1.-aetoacetylamino-2-chlorobenzene, both dyes in the form of a moist paste (filter cakes), are stirred with the addition of 1., 4 parts of sodium hydroxide in 600 parts of 80 war mem water and mixed with 20 parts of a cobalt sulfate solution added a cobalt content of 3.251 / o. After about half an hour of stirring at 80, the metallization is complete. The complex formed can be deposited by acidification with acetic acid or by adding sodium chloride.
