Description

  

  Verfahren zur     Herstellung    eines optischen     Aufhellungsmittels.            Gegenstand    vorliegenden Patentes ist ein  Verfahren zur Herstellung eines optischen       Aufhellungsmittels.    Das Verfahren ist da  durch     gekennzeichnet,    dass man     4-(2"'-Oxy-          4"'-methyl-benzoylamino)    -4'-     (2"-äthoxy-4"-me-          thyl-        benzoylamino)    -     stilben    -2,2'-     disulfonsäure     mit einer den     f-Oxy-äthylrest    einführenden  Verbindung, wie z.

   B.     Äthylenchlorhydrin    oder       Äthylenoxyd    bis zum Verschwinden der     pheno-          lischen        Hydroxylgruppe    behandelt.  



  Das erhaltene neue     Aufhellungsmittel,    die  4- [ 2"' -     (fl-        Oxy-        äthoxy)    - 4"' -     methyl    -     benzoyl-          amino    ]     -4'-(2"-äthoxy-4"-methyl-benzoylamino)-          stilben-2,2'-disulfonsäure,    stellt ein schwach  gelbliches Pulver dar und besitzt gute Affini  tät zur     Cellulosefaser.       <I>Beispiel:

  </I>    71 Teile des     Dinatriumsalzes    der     4-(2"'-Oxy-          4"'-methyl-benzoylamino)    -4'-     (2"-äthoxy-4"-me-          thylbenzoylamino)    -     stilben    - 2,21 -     disulfonsäure     werden in 1200 Teilen Wasser unter Zusatz  von 4 Teilen     Natriumhydroxyd    gelöst und bei  60-70  mit 8,05 Teilen     Äthylenchlorhydrin     verrührt,

   bis die Lösung nur noch     brillant-    oder  schwach     phenolphthaleinalkalisch        reagiert.    Das  Gemisch wird     nun    mit Natronlauge deutlich       mimosaalkalisch    gestellt und mit 50 Teilen    Kochsalz versetzt. Nach Erkalten kann das  entstandene     4-[2"'-(ss-oxy-äthoxy)-4"'-methyl-          benzoylamino    ] - 4' - (2"-     äthoxy    - 4"-     methyl-ben-          zoylamino)-stilben-2,2'-disulfonsaure    Natrium  durch Absaugen leicht isoliert werden.

   Es bil  det nach dem Trocknen ein nur schwach gelb  liches, wasserlösliches Pulver, dessen     wässrige     Lösungen vorzüglich geeignet sind, um auf  farblosen     Cellulosefasern    im     ultravioletten     Licht und im Tageslicht blau fluoreszierende  Färbungen zu erzeugen, welche     das@behandelte     Fasergut brillant weiss erscheinen lassen.

  The new lightening agent obtained, the 4- [2 "'- (fl-oxy-ethoxy) -4"' - methyl-benzoyl-amino] -4 '- (2 "-ethoxy-4" -methyl-benzoylamino) - stilbene -2,2'-disulfonic acid, is a pale yellowish powder and has good affinity for cellulose fiber. <I> example:

  </I> 71 parts of the disodium salt of 4- (2 "'- oxy- 4"' - methyl-benzoylamino) -4'- (2 "-ethoxy-4" -methylbenzoylamino) - stilbene - 2.21 - disulfonic acid are dissolved in 1200 parts of water with the addition of 4 parts of sodium hydroxide and stirred at 60-70 with 8.05 parts of ethylene chlorohydrin,

   until the solution only reacts brilliantly or slightly phenolphthalein alkaline. The mixture is then made clearly mimosa-alkaline with sodium hydroxide solution and mixed with 50 parts of common salt. After cooling, the resulting 4- [2 "'- (ss-oxy-ethoxy) -4"' - methylbenzoylamino] - 4 '- (2 "- ethoxy - 4" - methyl-benzoylamino) -stilbene- 2,2'-disulfonic acid sodium can easily be isolated by suction.

   After drying it forms a slightly yellowish, water-soluble powder, the aqueous solutions of which are eminently suitable for producing blue fluorescent colorations on colorless cellulose fibers in ultraviolet light and in daylight, which make the @ treated fiber material appear brilliant white.

Claims

PATENT CLAIM: Process for the production of an optical brightening agent, characterized in that; - that 4- (2 "'- Oxy-4"' - methyl benzoylamino) - 4 '- (2 "-ethoxy-4" -methyl-benzoylamino) -stilbene- ", 2'-disulfonic acid with one of the ss- Oxyethyl residue-introducing compound treated until the phenolic hydroxyl group disappears.

The new brightening agent obtained, the 4- [2 "'- (ss- oxy-ethoxy) - 4"' - methyl-benzoyl-amino] -4 '- (2 "-ethoxy-4" -methyl-benzoylamino) - stilbene -2,2'-disulfonic acid, is a pale yellowish powder and has good affinity for cellulose fiber.
