Additional patent to main patent no. 286501. Process for the production of a vat dye. It has been found that a valuable vat dye can be obtained if a - # Nmino 2-chloro-3-bromo-anthraquinone, in which the amino group takes the same position,
how the nitro group of the a-nitro- \? - chloro-3-bromo-anthraquinone, obtainable from 2-chloro-3-bromo-anthraquinone by nitration with nitric acid in concentrated sulfuric acid, is treated with an agent which releases the p-chlorobenzoy lrest.
The new dye dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a red color and dyes cotton from a reddish brown vat in light, real, yellow tones.
The starting material used in the present process a-amino-2-chloro-3-bromo-anthraquinone can be obtained by mononitration of 2-chloro-3-bromoanthraquinone and subsequent reduction of the obtained a-nitro-2-chloro-3-bromo-anthraquinone getting produced.
A reactive, functional derivative of p-chlorobenzoic acid, for example an acid halide and in particular the acid chloride, can expediently be used as the agent releasing the p-chlorobenzoyl radical.
The reaction can be carried out with advantage in indifferent, high-boiling solvents such as mono-, di- or trichlorobenzene, nitrobenzene or naphthalene, if desired in the presence of acid-binding and / or catalytically active agents, such as tertiary bases (pyridine or dimethylaniline), at elevated temperature, for example between 100 and the boiling point of the solvent used. example:
10.1 parts of α-amino-2-chloro-3-bromo-anthraquinone and 5.8 parts of 4-chlorobenzoyl chloride are stirred in 100 parts of dry nitrobenzene at 130 to 135 ° C. for three hours. The dye which crystallizes out in brown-yellow needles on cooling is filtered off with suction, washed with nitrabenzene and hot alcohol and dried.
α-Amino-2-chloro-3-bromo-anthraquinone can be prepared as follows: 200 parts of 2-amino-3-bromo-anthraquinone are dissolved in 1500 parts of sulfuric acid (99 11 / o). A nitrosylsulfuric acid solution, prepared from 55 parts of sodium nitrite and 500 parts of sulfuric acid (99 / a), is allowed to drop into this solution over a period of 30 minutes. After 4 to 5 hours of stirring at 20 C, the mixture is poured onto ice, filtered off with suction and washed with dilute sodium sulfate solution; well washed.
The diazonium sulfate is made into a paste with 1500 parts of hydrochloric acid (35%) and slowly introduced into a copper (I) chloride solution made from 165 parts of copper (I) chloride and 1500 parts of hydrochloric acid (35%). c After briefly stirring, it is boiled, vacuumed, washed with ammonia-containing water,
washed neutral and dried. The 2-chloro-3-bromo-anthraquinone thus obtained in excellent yield can, if desired, also be purified by crystallization from o-dichlorobenzene, from which it crystallizes in pale yellow needles. 140 parts of 2-chloro-3-bromo-anthraquinone are dissolved in 2100 parts of -2 # ionohydrate.
290 parts of nitrating acid, prepared from 145 parts of nitric acid (98%) and 145 parts of sulfuric acid (99%), are added to this solution within 30 minutes while stirring. After stirring for a further three hours at 50 C, it is filtered off with suction, washed with sulfuric acid, washed neutral,
Make a paste with a little water and boil for 12 hours with a solution of 100 parts of sodium sulfite in 8000 parts of water. Now the nitro compound is filtered off, washed well with water and dried ge. It can be further purified by crystallization from o-dichlorobenzene. For the reduction, it is ground as finely as possible with a little water, suspended in 3000 parts of water and treated with 30 percent sodium sulfhydrate solution at 90 ° C. while stirring. After three hours of stirring at 90 to 95 ° C., the mixture is filtered off with suction, washed well with hot water and dried.
Recrystallized from o-dichlorobenzene or anisole, dark red needles are obtained, which dissolve in concentrated sulfuric acid with a yellow color.
