<SEP> Toutes
.boucle n'a.
A method of shrinking in particular railway sleepers and machine for its implementation.
EMI0001.0002
The <SEP> present <SEP> invention <SEP> relates to <SEP> the <SEP> shrinking
<tb> in particular <SEP> of <SEP> crossings <SEP> of <SEP> paths <SEP> of <SEP> rail <SEP> or
<tb> other <SEP> pieces <SEP> of <SEP> wood.
<tb> The <SEP> shrinking <SEP> of the <SEP> sleepers <SEP> of <SEP> paths <SEP> of
<tb> iron <SEP> is <SEP> carried out <SEP> generally <SEP> of <SEP> the <SEP> way <SEP> as follows:
<SEP> A <SEP> using <SEP> of a <SEP> link <SEP> enclosing <SEP> the <SEP> crosses <SEP> to <SEP> proximity <SEP> of the <SEP> point. <SEP> where <SEP> one <SEP> wants <SEP> to pose
<tb> the <SEP> fret, <SEP> that is to say <SEP> to <SEP> one <SEP> of the <SEP> ends <SEP> of <SEP> the
<tb> traverses, <SEP> on <SEP> compresses <SEP> from barking-cl <SEP> strongly <SEP> the
<tb> crosses, <SEP> then <SEP> on <SEP> surrounds <SEP> this one <SEP> with a <SEP> fret
<tb> (the <SEP> type <SEP> variable, <SEP> placed <SEP> at <SEP> side <SEP> of the <SEP> link.
<SEP> All
<tb> these <SEP> frets <SEP> have <SEP> in <SEP> common <SEP> this <SEP> point, <SEP> than <SEP> one
<tb> at <SEP> minus <SEP> of <SEP> their <SEP> ends <SEP> crosses <SEP> a
<tb> ring <SEP> and <SEP> folds <SEP> around <SEP> of <SEP> this last <SEP>, <SEP> for
<tb> allow <SEP> immobilization <SEP> of <SEP> the <SEP> fret. <SEP> This
<tb> ring <SEP> can <SEP> be independent <SEP> <SEP> or <SEP> be <SEP> made up <SEP> by <SEP> a <SEP> loop <SEP> of <SEP> the < SEP> fret <SEP> itself.
<tb> What <SEP> that <SEP> is.
<SEP> the <SEP> type <SEP> of <SEP> fret <SEP> employed, <SEP> on
<tb> pulls <SEP> on <SEP> one <SEP> (the <SEP> ends <SEP> of <SEP> the <SEP> fret <SEP> in
<tb> taking <SEP> support <SEP> on <SEP> The ring <SEP> from <SEP> way <SEP> to <SEP> tender
<tb> the <SEP> fret <SEP> sufficiently <SEP> to <SEP> close <SEP> the
<tb> slots <SEP> that <SEP> presents <SEP> this <SEP> crosses.
<tb> This <SEP> mode <SEP> (the <SEP> put <SEP> in <SEP> places <SEP> of <SEP> the <SEP> fret
<tb> has <SEP> this <SEP> disadvantage <SEP> that <SEP> the application <SEP> of
<tb> the <SEP> fret <SEP> on <SEP> the <SEP> crosses <SEP> is <SEP> plus <SEP> or <SEP> less
<tb> well <SEP> made <SEP> by <SEP> following <SEP> of <SEP> friction <SEP> of <SEP> the <SEP> fret
<tb> on <SEP> the <SEP> crosses.
<SEP> In effect <SEP>, <SEP> it <SEP> can <SEP> happen <SEP> by
<tb> example <SEP> that, <SEP> by <SEP> following <SEP> (the <SEP> the <SEP> form outer <SEP>
<tb> of <SEP> the <SEP> crosses, <SEP> this one <SEP> applies <SEP> very <SEP> bad <SEP> on
<tb> one <SEP> of the <SEP> side <SEP> faces <SEP> of <SEP> the <SEP> crosses, <SEP> well
<tb> that <SEP> is <SEP> suitably <SEP> applied <SEP> on <SEP> the others. The existence of an arrow between the crossbar and the hoop gives rise to a mon in the latter and consequently compromises the effectiveness of the hooping.
On the other hand, the hoop rubs strongly on the ring and it can happen that this rubs lies. is large enough to oppose the smoothing of the hoop on the ring, which has the effect of giving rise to a stretch. local of the fret. The part thus stretched constitutes a zone of least resistance and. may show breaking initiators which, in particular when the link is detached (surrounds the cross member, can cause the hoop to break.
The jamming of the hoop in the loop can also allow the existence of a slack in the hoop and in particular the poor application of the latter on at least one of the faces of the cross member.
The hooping process according to the invention is characterized in that the hoop is printed in the cross member by application on the. fret pressing it down. in the cross member by compressing the latter, and after having assembled the ends of the hoop still subjected to the pressure is then allowed to relax the cross member.
This impression of the hoop in the wood can be done in several distinct, successive or simultaneous operations. A subject of the present invention is also a machine intended for implementing the above method.
This machine is characterized in that it comprises, polishing each of the faces of the cross member in which the printing of the hoop is carried out, means for opposing any displacement of the cross member perpendicular to the face to be printed. sea and directed in the direction of the pressure ensuring this impression, and a movable member which can move towards the aforementioned means to apply said pressure, thus ensuring the penetration of the hoop in the transverse and the compression of the cross member between said means and the mobile organ.
In one embodiment, this machine comprises three movable members successively printing the hoop on three faces of the cross member.
It is possible to add to the three preceding organs, at least one additional applying organ. the fret on the face of the. cross in which it has not been printed, so as to avoid any harmful play and. to ensure a suitable attachment of both ends of the. fret.
The impression of the band in one of the faces of the cross member can be obtained by rolling a roller strongly applied on the band and moving from edge to edge, the other across the cross member.
To prevent the natural elasticity of the wood from tending to bring the cross member back to its initial dimensions, before the end of the operation, it is preferable to make the printing roller follow a series of rollers rolling on the hoop. and. now printed in the crosspiece.
Other arrangements making it possible to carry out other operations for preparing the crossing can be envisaged on the machine.
One of these arrangements consists of a drilling equipment allowing the execution of holes in one of the faces of the cross member, for example the lower face, in order to allow a better distribution of the impregnating agents to the inside the sleeper and in particular to avoid the existence of a dead zone in the center of the sleeper; by drilling holes in this dead zone, during the subsequent impenation, the removal of this zone is ensured.
Another arrangement makes it possible to groove one of the faces of the cross member with a view to accommodating the loop or the ring, or more generally the fastening device, in this groove, and thus to prevent the shrunken cross member having dimensions greater than the standardized dimensions for which the machines used to complete the manufacture of sleepers are designed. This arrangement also makes it possible to keep the hoop in place.
The machine may be fitted with an automatic drive device ensuring the transport of the ties to be hooped or shrunk from one end of the machine to the other. Thus, no manual handling of sleepers is. necessary during shrinking, milling and drilling operations or between these operations.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
The fi-. 1, \? and 3 demonstrate the principle of the shrinking process.
Fig. 4 schematically represents the whole of the machine.
Fig. 5 shows the whole part of the machine which ensures the hooping of the sleepers.
The. Fi-. 6 represents the leading handling system. the crosspieces in the desired location for the hooping and carrying, the hooped sleepers.
The fi--. 7 is a view showing the equipment. drilling that comprises the machine and one of the two opposite parts which each ensure the hooping of one end of the sleepers, the other part being. only diagram tized by its outline.
The fi-. q represents, seen parallel to the direction of travel of the sleepers, the part of the machine which ensures the grooving of the sleepers by milling.
Fig. 9 is a fragmentary plan view showing. that same part of the machine. The principle of the shaped hooping process is shown schematically in FIGS. 1 to 3.
Following. this process (Fig. 1), we first apply the hoop 1,. against the cross verse 2, then. exerting a dry pressure matized on FIG. 1 of the drawing, by the arrow F, the hoop is printed in the cross member, so that the face 3 of the hoop comes substantially in the same plane as the face 4 of the cross member. The pressure F is given a sufficient value so that not only the hoop is embedded in the cross member, but also so that the latter is compressed notably in the.
part to be wrapped, so as to reduce its cross section corresponding to the place where the pressure is exerted which, at the same time, closes any slots. This arrangement is shown schematically in FIG. 2 by removing the face -t corresponding to this figure relative to the face 4 corresponding to FIG. 1.
Then tighten the hoop and assemble its ends. Then, the pressure F is removed, so that the sleeper tends to take its original dimensions.
The compression exerted during the second phase of the process has the effect of first producing a localized compression in the immediate vicinity of the hoop in the goal. to drown it in the crossbar and. then to ensure a more general compression in order to reduce the cross section of the cross in the part which corresponds to the hoop.
When the pressure applied to the cross member is removed, a double trigger corresponding to the double compression tends to partially bring out the. hoop (localized trigger) and, on the other hand, to expand the key compressed section through the crosspiece, tending to give it its initial section (general trigger). We will then obtain <B> the </B> arrangement shown in FIG. 3 where we see at 4 the surface of the cross member and at 1 the hoop. Note in this figure that the hoop is engaged over part of its thickness in the cross member.
On the other hand, the cross-section of the cross-member tends to return to its initial dimensions with one difference, however, which corresponds to the closing of the slots or checks existing in the wood and this is why in fig. 3 of the drawing we have. represented the position of the. face 4 in front of that which it occupies in FIG. 2, but slightly set back from that of FIG. 1.
A machine intended for the implementation of the process which has just been described is shown schematically in FIG. 4. This machine has two corresponding parts respectively. and in the order of the operations, aLL milling of the ends of the sleepers, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, during the fretting and drilling of the sleeper, these last two operations being simultaneous.
This machine comprises a set of conveyors of the type with two parallel endless chains and assemblies carrying out. the various operations of shrinking, milling and drilling. The sleepers are resting. on the conveyors perpendicular to the direction of movement of the latter. The machine shown comprises a set of shrinking and a set of milling split each into two stations located on the side. and other carriers. Often in the description that goes. follow, we will only refer to one of these positions, but it is understood that the second exists nonetheless.
The crosspiece, brought at 5 to the end of a conveyor 6 moving in the direction of the arrow FL, is brought under the milling device 7 which produces over the entire width of the crosspiece a depth proportional to the groove. thickness of the cross member. During this operation; the cross member 2 is guided laterally at its ends.
One of the branches of an articulated parallelogram 9 carries a cutter 10 which cuts the groove. This groove has a dirty cross section not having an internal angle, to avoid the initiation of breakage in the wood and substantially corresponds to the dirty cross section of the loop assembly and. fret.
This result is obtained by providing a cutter of suitable shape.
Released from its guides, the cross is. then brought to 11. A contactor then commands the stopping of the conveyor 6 until the crosspiece is taken up by the conveyor 12 associated with the. second part of the machine. At this moment, the contactor commands the starting of the conveyor <B> 6 </B> and a new cross member will be brought under the milling device 7.
The conveyor 12 then brings the. crosses into a niche 13 where the. cross member is shrunken, central holes are drilled at the same time and a conveyor 14 picks up the shrunken cross member and removes it, while the next cross member is brought by conveyor 12 to the bottom of slot 13.
With reference. in fig. 5, we will now describe the part of the machine which ensures the shrinking. The cross member 2 is brought by the conveyor 12 (shown schematically in this figure) in a slot 13 against the bottom of which it is applied by a movable clamping flange 15, this flange being placed as close as possible to the place where the we want to place the hoop, but not encroaching. not on this site. The hoop being placed at 16 (FIG. 5), a horizontal displacement press slide 17 comes to strongly press the hoop against the face 18 of the cross member 2 and pushes it into the latter which abuts against the fixed bracket 19.
The pressure is, chosen sufficient to imprint the band in the face 18 of the cross member.
In a second operation, a roller 20, strongly applied to the. lower face 21 of the cross member and moving in the direction of arrow I'2 in FIG. 5, prints the hoop in the face 21 by stretching this hoop along the key this face and avoiding that there is no slack remaining opposite the angle of the faces 18 and 21. This roller 20 is. followed in its movement by a series of rollers 22 ensuring the maintenance of the. 16 fret in the. face 21 and include the. crosses against the. flange 15.
A lever 23 tumbling around an axis 2-1 pivots when the roller 20 has reached the left end of its stroke; this lever 23 raises the hoop 16 and engages it between the face 25 of the. crossbar 2 and a slider 18 'similar to slider 17, but eclipsable to allow the development of the. hoop in its vertical plane, and movable transversely in the direction opposite to the slide 17. The positioning of the hoop is completed by hand and the assembly of the two ends of the hoop is prepared.
In a third operation, the slide 18 'is acted upon by causing it to compress the part of the hoop situated on the face 25, which has the effect. to also compress in the horizontal direction. crosses itself.
We put. then successively, in play rollers 26 and. 26 'which roll on the hoop by flattening it against the upper face 27 .de the cross member and allow the fixing of the ends of the hoop. The directions of movement of these rollers are opposite, so that they tend to bring the two ends of the hoop closer together.
After assembling the ends of the hoop, the various slides and rollers are then released by releasing. the crossing; this is taken up by the conveyor 14 which takes it to the left of the. fig. 5, where the crosspiece is taken either to be stored or to be returned to subsequent finishing operations.
Fig. 6 represents the set of conveyors 12 and 1-1 and shows how the niche 13 is. arranged between them. These conveyors include carriages such as 28 and 29 carried by chains parallel to the known manner 'and oscillating about axes carried by these chains. The part of the conveyors which forms the walls of the slot 13 acts as a vertical elevator, while the other parts simply form horizontal conveyors; the movement of the conveyors is, of course, stopped during the shrinking operations.
In order to be able to shrink the two key ends at the same time the cross member, the machine has two parts arranged on either side of the conveyors, at least one of these parts is movable (end. 7), to allow adaptation .la. machine with sleepers of different lengths. These two parts behave. .the same set of hooping and act of. same way on both ends of the cross member. The operations of these two parts may not be synchronized in.
view to leave the worker full latitude in his work and in particular to allow the use of two workers each placed at one end of the sleepers and able. do not each realize the. same shrinking operation.
As seen in fig. 7, lin ment drilling equipment is disposed between the two shrinking parts, including. one is. only shown schematically in the drawing. This equipment may for example include three wicks. drill 30, carried by a cross member 31 sant grout on two columns 32 and actuated by a motor 33, the rotation of the bits being. provided by a 34 motor.
The three wicks are. preferably arranged in a straight line oblique with respect to the longitudinal axis of the cross member, so that the holes do not act. not on the same fibers of the wood, which could weaken the strength of the cross member.
The milling part is shown in Figs. 8 and 9. The cutter 10 is carried by an arm 35 pivoting at 36 around the drive shaft of the cutter, a belt 37 ensuring the transmission of the movement. Tra verse 2 brought by the conveyor 6 is attacked by the. strawberry, as shown in the figures. A second arm 38 articulated at 39 at its base articulates at 40 at its upper part, so as to form with the arm 35 and the ski 41 an articulated parallelogram.
This set of parallelograms and runners or skis makes it possible, on the one hand, to maintain the cutter (s) in the working position and, on the other hand, to adapt the depth of cut to the total thickness. of the crossing. In fact, for a given cross member thickness, the vertical distance between the underside of a ski and the lowest point dP the circumference of the cutter has a given value. If the cross member is replaced by a thinner cross member when the ski is resting on the cross member, the arm carrying the cutter is. more inclined, and the vertical distance is less.
The depth of cut being determined by this distance will therefore also be less.
The movements of this parallelogram are controlled by a pusher 42 itself controlled by a cam 43 fixed on the shaft 44; thus, it is possible to control vertical movements of the cutter and of the ski, the latter having the role defined above. The whole of the articulated quadrilateral and of the cutter located on one side of the conveyor is carried by a carriage 45 movable transversely. with respect to the direction of movement of the sleepers, which is itself parallel to the plane of FIG. 8.
The transverse movements of the carriage 45 are. controlled, like the vertical deformation of the quadrilateral, by a cam 46 carried by the shaft 44; this cam acts on a pusher 47 itself attacking a driven lever 48, pivoting about the axis 49, and controlling the movement of the carriage 45 parallel to the arrow F3 of, FIG. 9.
As a result of the shape of the cams 43 and 46, as the cross member 2 approaches the cutter by following the conveyor 6, the following operations occur, the ski is raised, as well as the cutter which is solid and the carriage 45 moves back, the cross member continuing to advance, the carriage is kept retracted, then a counterweight 50 brings the carriage back to the cross member by immobilizing the latter between a stop integral with the carriage and another stop integral with the opposite part located on the other side of the conveyor. A counterweight 51 acting on the articulated quadrilateral lowers the ski and the cutter comes into action.
The milling part comprises another part similar to that which has just been described and located opposite it from the a-Liter side of the conveyor. It is controlled by the same shaft 44 and. a 4W cam mounted on this. tree and. not visible in the drawing.
This cam controls the vertical movements of the ski and of the cutter corresponding to the second part. The latter is fixed in the plan. vertical and the shaft 44 is for example telescopic to adapt to the lateral displacement of the first part forming the mobile station. The machine which has just been described can adapt to any length and to any cross section, by spacing .des mo biles shrinking and milling stations.
Each scrub worker can carry out his operations by means of a remote control station.
The shrinking elements are actuated, for example, by hydraulic or pneumatic or mechanical presses or any other means of propulsion.
We can conceive of such a machine acting only on the end of a cross member, although this arrangement is less advantageous. On the other hand, the method and the machine can be applied to the hooping of other pieces of wood.
Word. .buckle did. been used during this presentation only to facilitate it. It should be understood that it designates any mode of assembling the heavens ends of the. fret which may itself have various sections.
