Le dispositif encreur est constitué par un disque 23, en textile imprégné d'entre, maintenu entre deux disques 24 de plus petit diamètre, en bristol par exemple; ils comportent en leur centre une perforation carrée 25 avec .des amorces de découpage 26 à chaque angle;
Typewriter. The present invention relates to a typewriter which is. characterized in that the connecting devices between the keys, corresponding to the different letters on which the operator acts, and the pivoting character-carrying levers are. formed by strips arranged in a field, flexible in the horizontal plane, some of which are rectilinear and the other curvilinear, capable of smoothing, possibly deforming., in guides provided for this purpose.
Thanks to this particular constitution of the connecting devices, it is possible. realize a machine (the dimensions much smaller than the usual machines comprising. rigid connection devices; one can in particular make a portable machine having only about fifteen eentimeters wide, which can be held in one hand, the other hand being the only one used to operate the keys corresponding to the different letters The space key can be operated by the hand which carries the machine.
An embodiment of the object of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the appended top, in which: The fiD. 1 is a perspective view of the. machine ready to be closed.
Fig. 2 is a similar view of the machine ready for use.
Fig. 3 is a similar view, on a larger scale, of a striking device. Fig. 4 shows a variant and FIG. 5 shows a detail.
The table 1 of the machine shown com door grooves 2 in which can slide the connecting devices between the keys 3 and the character-carrying levers 4; a support rod 5 supports the character-carrying levers in the rest position (fig. 1) or in the use position (fig. 2); wider grooves 7 allow the sliding of the keys rigidly connected to one of the ends of the aforementioned connecting devices.
Special keys 8 and 9 are. provided to control the spacing and the capitals, the space key 8 being capable of being maneuvered with the thumb of the left hand which carries the machine.
A transverse bar 10, engaged in eneoches 11. (fi-. 3) of the connecting devices 12, is constantly biased by one or more springs and thus returns the connecting devices to their initial position after striking; this bar also controls the advance of the carriage 13.
Each of these connecting devices, eons-itu6 by a thin and flexible strip, in metal for example, comprises at its front end a rack 14, in engagement with a pinion. 15, mounted to pivot around the Î-X axis, and integral in rotation with the lever 4 character carriers 16.
Following the. variant shown at. the fi-. 3, each key is fixed on a toothed sector 17, mounted to pivot around an axis 18, and by interlocking with a rack 19, fixed to the other end of the connecting device 12.
According to another variant shown in FIG. 4, the key 3 pivots about an axis 20 and is integral with an extension 21, slightly elastic, a toothed sector 22 in engagement with the rack 19.
The inking device consists of a disc 23, made of textile impregnated with input, held between two discs 24 of smaller diameter, made of Bristol board for example; they have in their center a square perforation 25 with .des cut-outs 26 at each angle;
this perforation is engaged on the pyramidal py head 27 of a pin, of @ square section which drives the inking disc in rotation and commands its erasing movement; a slight shrinkage. 28 of this pin fixes the position of the inking disc on said pin.
A striking surface 29, formed by a cylindrical sector, is integral in translation with the carriage 13; this .dernier consists of a hollow cylinder containing a roll of paper 30, the end of which escapes through a longitudinal slot provided at. this. effect and passes over the striking surface 29, against which it is, pressed by the 6lastic fingers 31.
We could provide a crazy assembly of the letter-holder levers, and use the system here exposed, to write directly on a drawing table, register, notebook or other, by removing, from a machine similar to that described here, the carriage and fixing said machine on a suitable frame .. In this case, it is. my china itself which moves horizontally and vertically. on the aforementioned framework.
