Ferrule for balance spring. It is known that the ferrule is a member fixed with greasy friction on the axis of the balance and in which the inner end of the spring is pinned. To facilitate adjustment of the ferrule, it is split along a radius as tightly as possible. The usual ferrules have a hole in a plane perpendicular to their axis and into which is introduced the end of the hairspring which is tightened by means of a pin. This operation requires careful attention, because the hairspring must be pinned so that its plane is strictly perpendicular to the axis of the balance.
This requires, after fixing the hairspring, a retouching of it rather delicate to do to obtain a good result. During this retouching, there is sometimes the risk of spoiling the hairspring and often the retouching is not done with all the necessary care.
The inventor has endeavored to construct a ferrule which allows simple, quick and easy fixing of the hairspring. The object of the present invention is a ferrule for a balance spring, characterized in that it comprises a body and a stirrup whose arms make it possible to fix the end of the balance spring to the body of the viral.
The accompanying drawing shows by way of example two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig.1 is a plan view with partial section of the first embodiment. Fig. 2 is a section through the body of the ferrule along line II-II of fig.1. Fig.3 is a section along line III-III of the shell of Fig.1, the latter being provided with its bracket.
Fig. 4 is a development of the stirrup in plan.
Fig. 5 is a plan view of the caliper. Fig. 6 is a side view of the caliper of FIG. 5.
Fig. 7 is a view of the second embodiment.
FIG. 8 is a section taken along line VIII-VIII of FIG. 7.
Fig.9 is a section along the. line IX-IX of fig. 8.
Fig. 10 shows a section taken along the broken line X-X of FIG. 7, and FIG. 11 shows the caliper of this second embodiment in development.
The body of the shell 1 of generally circular shape is split radially in 2. The hairspring 3 is applied against a straight projection line 4 of the body 1 which further comprises the hollows 5, 6, 7 and 8 made on its periphery, in which the arms 9, 10, 11 and 12 of the stirrup 13. The stirrup 13 is preferably cut from a sheet of steel along the outline of FIG. 4 where an opening 14 has been made for the axis of the balance. Fig. 5 shows the bracket 13 after having folded the four arms at right angles, following the profile of fig. 6. FIG. 3 shows the caliper 13 in the position of use.
The arms 9 and 12, on the one hand, 10 and 11, on the other hand, keep the hairspring resiliently pressed against the projection 4. FIGS. 7 to 11 show a ferrule according to the invention, in which the stirrup 15 has been cut so as not to hide the slot 2.
According to fig.11, the bracket 15 also includes four arms, but two of them, 16 and 17, form an angle of 60 degrees, the other two, 18 and 19, being parallel. The projection 20 of the ferrule body (fig. 9) is no longer straight as in fig. 1, but arched so as to best match the end curve of the hairspring 3. In order for the caliper 15 to cooperate properly with the ferrule body 24, the arms 18 and 19 are slightly bent so as to press their convex part against the flanks 22 and 23 of the shell body 24 (fig. 10).
The installation of the hairspring is therefore easily understood. The ferrule body is placed in a recess of a mounting block and the hairspring; placed on this ferrule body so that its internal curve comes to rest against the projection. The ferrule body is then capped with its stirrup. This assembly makes it possible to fix the hairspring in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the balance. In addition, the attachment point can be moved forward or back as desired, depending on the needs of the adjustment; it suffices to do this, to raise the caliper.
In addition, if we stick to the second embodiment, it is easy to remove the ferrule from the axis of the balance by inserting for example the end of a screwdriver in the slot 2, whereas said slot is not masked by the caliper.
