Ellipse for escapement with anchor. In watch movements including. the escapement is lever type of a lever type or a type with pegs, the axis of the balance is generally. integral with one or two plates. One of these, the larger, has an ankle called an ellipse, because of the shape of its section. It should be noted that the term ehlipse, which has long been used in watchmaking, applies, by extension, indifferently to elliptical, triangular, half-moon-shaped pegs, etc. The ellipse or plate peg cooperates with the horns of the anchor fork.
Correct operation depends in part on the careful installation of the ellipse. of the exhaust .. It must at the same time be well fixed in its housing. and perpendicular to the board.
The installation of the ellipse has hitherto been done by stamping a hole in the plate whose profile must correspond to that of the ellipse. We introduced this one and. it was fixed with a drop of shellac, after having previously heated said plate. This way of proceeding was. not very rational, not to mention that the plate hole must necessarily have the shape of the ellipse used.
The object of the present invention is an ellipse for an anchor escapement, characterized in that it comprises a cylindrical part for its fixing.
The installation of this ellipse no longer requires the stamping of an elliptical, triangular or half-moon shaped hole. All you have to do is drill the large plate with an exactly dimensioned cylindrical hole and insert the cylindrical base of the ellipse, which fits perfectly without any additional gluing being necessary.
The cylindrical base of the ellipse comprises, preferably at its lower part, a rounded arch, which facilitates driving into the plate and prevents ironing of the hole by chasing the ellipse.
This ellipse with a cylindrical base can be made, for example, of ruby, sapphire, garnet or steel, depending on the required quality of the movement.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the ellipse according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is. a side view. Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof, and FIG. 3 is a front view.
In the embodiment shown, the cylindrical base 1 of the ellipse is fitted into the large plate (hatched in the drawing). From the cylindrical base 1 detaches the active part of the ellipse, 2; its section, oval in shape, is formed by arcs of circles Rl and R_ (fig. 2). The major axis of this section is approximately equal to the diameter of the base of the ellipse, as shown in fig. 3. The junction between part 2 of the ellipse and the base 1 has a rounding or fillet 3 which increases its solidity.
The rounding 4. facilitates entry into the tray and. has a radius of about min. It is therefore understood that the fixing of the ellipse according to the invention is considerably facilitated, since, whatever the shape that is given to it, its base remains cylindrical and can be perfectly adjusted in the large plate of the exhaust. , which makes it possible to predict with precision the play between the horns of the fork and the ellipse (horn fret).
