Le porte-mine représenté comprend un corps tubulaire 1 .dans une extrémité duquel est vissé un ajutage 2 contenant une pince 3 portant la mine 4 placés sous l'action d'un ressort non représenté. L'autre extrémité du corps tubulaire 1 porte une douille 5 fermée par un bouchon fileté 6 et servant de magasin pour les mines de réserve. La bague 7 portant l'agrafe 8 sert de manchon couvre-joint entre le corps 1 et lia dbuille 5.
La paroi du corps tubulaire 1 présente une fente longitudinale 9. Dans l'extrémité oppo sée à la mine du corps tubulaire 1 :est articulée sur une goupille 10 une tige d'acier en deux tronçons 11 et 12 articulés entre eux par une goupille 13. Le tronçon 12 est muni d'une pointe rapportée 14. La tige 11-12 forme l'une des branches d'un compas dont l'autre branche est formée par le corps 1 -du porte mine.
Lorsque le tronçon 12 est replié contre le tronçon 11 -comme représenté en traits mixtes dans la fia. 2, la tige peut être main tenue à l'intérieur du corps 1 par une bague 15 susceptible de -coulisser sur le corps 1 et de fermer la partie extrême de la fente longi- tudinalle 9 à travers laquelle la tige 11, 12 peut sortir -du corps 1.
Un ress.ort-lame 16 tend à faire sortir l'a tige 11-12 de son loge ment par la fente 9 lors-que la bague 15 est poussée vers l'extrémité côté mine du porte mine. Le ressort 16 assure aussi le maintien en place de la bague 15 en position de ferme ture eu faisant appuyer contre elle le dos ar rondi du tronçon 11 de la tige.

The mechanical pencil shown comprises a tubular body 1 .in one end of which is screwed a nozzle 2 containing a clamp 3 carrying the lead 4 placed under the action of a spring, not shown. The other end of the tubular body 1 carries a sleeve 5 closed by a threaded plug 6 and serving as a store for reserve mines. The ring 7 carrying the clip 8 serves as a joint cover sleeve between the body 1 and the dbuille 5.
The wall of the tubular body 1 has a longitudinal slot 9. A spring-blade 16 tends to cause the rod 11-12 to come out of its housing through the slot 9 when the ring 15 is pushed towards the lead end of the mechanical pencil.
