Description

Packaging for the transport of at least one potted plant.

The subject of the present invention is a packaging for the transport of at least one potted plant, characterized in that it comprises a bottom and four trapezoidal side walls forming a hollow open box, the four side walls being formed by means of at least one folded sheet of cardboard, the conical edges of which are joined by means of staples and the bottom being formed by means of a sheet of cardboard the angles of which are cut and the marginal parts folded down and fixed by means of staples to the side walls so that the free edges of these marginal parts coincide with the lower edges of these walls, the upper angles of the box having four housings,

each formed by notching the cardboard of the adjacent side walls and pushing the wall parts between the notches and the edges towards the interior of the box. upper, in which are engaged four rods whose free ends are tied together so as to form protective hoops for the parts. of the plant protruding from the pot.

The drawing represents part of an embodiment of the object of the invention, given by way of example
The left half of fig. 1 is an elevational view and the. right half a section, along I-I of fig. 21, of the box of this embodiment.

Fig. 2 shows a top plan view of this box.

The box shown has a bottom 1, square in shape and four side walls 2,3,4 eb 5 of trapezoidal shape. The latter are formed by means of a sheet of cardboard, cut and folded to form a truncated pyramid whose large open base is turned upwards. The ends 5 ′ and 5 ″ of the sheet which constitute the face 5 are joined by their contiguous edges by means of staples 6.

The bottom 1 is formed by means of a sheet of cardboard the angles of which are cut and the marginal parts 7, 8, 9 and 10, shown flat in FIG. 2 in phantom lines, are folded down, as shown in fig. 1, and fixed at. means of staples to the side walls 2,3,4 and 5 so that the free edges of these marginal parts 7,8,9 and 10 coincide with the lower edges of these walls 2,3,4 and 5. This gives basically sufficient rigidity so that it can support even pots of a certain weight.

The upper corners of the box have four housings 11, in which are engaged sticks, not shown, the free ends of which are attached together so as to form protective hoops for the part of the plant extending beyond the pot. These housings are made as follows: The cardboard of the contiguous side walls is notched at each angle at a certain distance from the upper edge of the box, and the parts 12 of the walls between the incision and the upper edge are pushed towards inside the box.

The mixed lines of fig. 2 show the wall parts before they are pushed back.

In addition, further incisions could be made in the adjoining walls of each corner to form additional housings for the sticks and thereby give them greater stability.
