Fig. 2 reproduit la partie droite de fig.
Fig. 4 reproduit la partie gauche de fig.
Loom breaker. The subject of the invention is a weaving loom breaker, characterized in that it comprises at least one feeler member retaining the weft yarn at the time of the departure of the na vette, said feeler member being prevented by the tension of the weft thread, to actuate a stop device of the loom.
It will be understood that under these conditions, if the weft thread is broken or abnormally loose, it can no longer exert a sufficient action on the feeling member which thus causes the stop.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a partial perspective view of a loom comprising a first embodiment of the weft breaker, with diagram of the accessory electrical equipment.
Fig. 2 reproduces the right part of FIG. 1, but at another position of the parts, namely when the shuttle leaves.
Fig. 3 is another view of this right part, showing the parts when the shuttle is crossing the step.
Fig. 4 reproduces the left part of FIG. 1, but at the position of the pieces when the shuttle arrives.
Fig. 5 is a plan view of a second embodiment of the object of the invention. Fig. 6 and 7 are corresponding views, respectively from the side and in elevation. Fig. 8 is a diagram showing the success of the various phases of operation.
Fig. 9 to 12 are schematic perspective views showing the general arrangement of the electrical circuits and of the control cams thereof in the embodiment according to FIG. 5 to 7.
In fig. 1, there is shown at 1 the clapper of the loom with the comb 2 and the warp threads 3 in the opening position of the pitch, just before the departure of the shuttle enclosed in one of the boxes 4. We can see at 5 the board forming the shuttle path.
This leaf 1 carries at its ends two symmetrical assemblies, each of which comprises a fixed transverse axis 6 on which is mounted a lightweight shutter 7 capable of being deflected when the shuttle passes. This flap carries a tail 8 oriented approximately horizontally towards the neighboring box 4 and acting on a finger 9 fixed radially to a shaft 10 which extends longitudinally on the leaf 1 and is common to the two assemblies.
The leaf 1 also carries, in each set, a transverse pivot 11 on which is mounted a fine and elastic needle 12 pro lengthened upwards by a heel 13 which co-operates with a sector 14 which can snap it into two positions shown for the whole right-hand side by fig. 1 and 2 respectively, to have a position (fig. 2), for. which the wing 2 is appreciably vertical and another (fig. 1), for which it is oblique and inclined towards the middle of the wing 1.
Needle 12 is longer than the height of pivot 11 above plate 5 and a recess 15 is made in this plane for the passage of the end of said needle.
The leaf also carries an insulated metal cleat 16 against which the needle 12 comes to bear in its position of FIG. 2.
The flap 7 is integral with an arm, curved 17 which passes above the needle 12, so as to be able to pass it from the position of FIG. 1 to that of fig. 2 when said shutter is deflected by the departure of the shuttle. For its part, the shaft 10 carries an arm 18 terminated by a fork 19 disposed under a finger 20 integral with the needle 12, so as to return the latter from the position of FIG. 2 to that of fig. 1. when the arm 18 is lifted due to the rotation of the shaft 10 under the action of one of the flaps 7 moved in the direction corresponding to the arrival of the shuttle, or towards the outside of the leaf.
On one of the arms 21 carrying the leaf (shown schematically a second time in fig. 1 on the right for the clarity of the electrical circuits) is arranged a system of two elastic contacts 22, normally spaced apart from each other, but which can be actuated by the neighboring rod 23 for controlling the bat both by means of an insulating button 24, said rod being coupled to the usual crankshaft 25.
The electrical circuits include a battery 26 or other current source one pole of which is grounded. The other pole is connected to a self-locking relay 27 connected, on the other hand, to its own straw 28 and acting on it to bring it into contact with a pad 29 connected to ground, so that the circuit remains permanently closed if it has been closed for even a very short time.
As a bypass on the relay 27, the winding 30 has an electromagnet controlling the stopping of the loom by auxiliary means, not shown, but easy to imagine for any person skilled in the art.
The straw 28 is connected to one of the contacts 22, while the other contact is connected to the two tabs 16. The needles 12 are grounded either by their pivots 11 or by the sectors 14, as indicated.
The operation is as follows: We will first place ourselves in the position of fig. 1, that is to say the two needles 12 inclined towards the middle of the leaf, which has just given its blow forward and moves away towards the rear, but is not yet in its most remote position , as indicated by the position shown for crankshaft 25.
At this time, the shuttle 31 leaves the right box to go to the left box. In passing, it deflects the neighboring shutter 7 inwards which, by means of the curved arm 17, brings the corresponding needle 12 to its almost vertical position of FIG. 2 for which it bears against the stopper 16. Said needle is slightly offset forward not relative to the path of the shuttle which it does not obstruct the passage, and in such a way that the tip of the needle comes to be placed between the - shuttle path and the last pick.
The corresponding stopper 16 is thus grounded, but this does not close the circuit starting from the straw 28, because the contacts 22 are still open. On the other hand, the weft thread 32 exiting the shuttle is retained by the needle and forms a loop around the latter.
The shuttle 31 continuing its path, the thread 32 exerts a traction on the needle 12 which, because of its great elasticity, bends a little, enough for. leave the stopper 16 (posi tion of fig. 3).
At this moment the rod 23, continuing its upward oscillating movement, actuates the contacts 22 which close. The circuit of the straw 28 is however not closed, because the needle 12 has left the stopper 16 under the action of the traction of the weft thread 32, as explained above.
Passing to the right of the other assembly (fig. 4), the shuttle 31 deflects the corresponding shutter 7 outwards, which acts by its tail 8 on the finger 9 of the shaft 10 which rotates at a certain angle. and brings back the needle 12 from the right by the arm 18 and the corresponding fork 19. It will be noted that the left needle 12, disposed in the oblique position, is sufficiently spaced from the board 5 to allow the free passage under its point of the weft yarn of the shuttle.
The lifting of the right needle 12 releases the weft yarn 32 so that the loop that had formed around the needle is absorbed as a result of the residual stroke of the shuttle.
The two needles 12 thus being brought back to the oblique position, the same phenomena occur when the shuttle goes from left to right.
It is understood that if, during the passage of the shuttle in the pitch, the weft thread is broken or insufficiently stretched, the needle 12 located on the side of the starting box will cease to be separated from the stopper 16 (position in phantom lines in fig. 3). The circuit of the straw 28 will be closed for a short time, but sufficient for the relay 27 to engage. The winding 30 will therefore be supplied permanently and will cause the business to stop.
It will also be noted that the weft breaker described has the advantage of retaining the weft at a certain distance from the selvedges and, consequently, avoids incidents resulting from the rubbing of the weft yarn on them.
The embodiment according to fig. 5 to 12 comprises a thimble 33 which is fixed on any transverse rod 34 of the loom, advantageously on the rod or bar normally provided to carry the templets, the attachment being provided by a setting screw 35. This thimble is crossed by a bearing 36 which is locked in position by a screw 37, and this bearing receives an axis 38 terminated by a yoke 39 carrying a pivot 40 on which can oscillate a needle 41 biased by a spring 42 attached, on the other hand, to a stop ring 43 wedged on the shaft 38.
The needle 41 has its point curved pa rallel to the hinge axis of the pivot 40, as shown in FIG. 7 and its heel 41a passes on the other side of said pivot to engage in a groove cut in a plate 44 fixed in an adjustable manner to the die 33 by screws 45 passing through an elongated window 46 of said plate (fig. 6 and 7). The aforementioned groove comprises an entry 47a strongly inclined with respect to the axis 38 and a bottom 47b parallel to said axis.
The bearing 36 bears, opposite the needle 41, a plate 48 supporting an electromagnetic coil 49, the movable core 50 of which is coupled by a rod 51 with a plate 52 wedged at the end of the axis 38. This plate 52 carries, besides the axis 53 of the connecting rod 51, a stud 54 to which is anchored a return spring 55 attached, on the other hand, at 56 to the coil 49, and an insulating roller 57 acting on an elastic spangle 58 for bring it into contact with a second straw 59,
the two flakes 58 and 59 being carried by the plate 48 by means of appropriate insulating thicknesses.
The device thus produced is placed along an edge of the fabric 60 (FIG. 5), such that the point of the needle is located in the immediate vicinity of the last weft 32, such that said point can hold the weft thread, as shown in solid lines., when the shuttle leaves from the side of the loom where the -device is placed. It should be noted that the entire device is on the side of the warp web and cannot in any way hinder the movements of said web.
The operation will be explained with reference to the diagram in fig. 8 that one can consider as representing on the abscissa the times and on the ordinate the degree of opening of the step. .
At a, the comb is in contact with the trama, the pitch being closed. In b, the leaf will start to move back at the same time as the step opens to allow the passage of the boat. At c, a suitable switch (which will be described below) launches the current in the coil 49. The latter turns the plate 52 in the direction of clockwise in fig. 7 against the spring 55, which brings the heel 41a to the start of the part 47b of the groove of the plate 44.
The spring 42 then pulls said heel and brings it to the bottom of this part 47b (position shown in solid lines in Figs. 5 and 6). The sequins 58 and 59 are thus brought into contact by the insulating roller 57. It will also be noted that the point of the needle 41 is then lowered below the mean plane of the fabric 60 following the rotation of the axis. 38.
At d, the shuttle leaves from the side on which the device described is located; it crosses the step at a determined speed. In e, it is in the middle of the step which is then at its maximum opening or approximately. During this time, the weft thread 32 (fig. 5) was caught by the lowered needle 41 and the traction it exerted on the needle caused the latter to pivot around the pivot 40 against the needle. the very slight return action of the spring 42, the attachment point of which is placed very close to the pivot. The needle has thus taken the position indicated in broken lines and your heel has returned to the junction of the parts 47b and 47a of the groove of the plate 44.
At f, the current flowing through coil 49 is interrupted by the switch described below. The axis 38 can then return under the action of the return spring 55, without being hampered by the heel 41a, since the latter is held outside the part or bottom 47b of the groove of the plate 44 by the traction of the weft thread. This return to the back of the axis 38 has two consequences: firstly, it causes the point of the needle 41 to be lifted which releases the weft thread 32, which can be stretched normally at the bottom of the pitch at the usually under the action of the traction of the shuttle in its residual stroke towards the opposite side of the profession; secondly, it causes the sequins 58 and 59 to open.
A moment later (in g), current is started by an appropriate switch in a control circuit on which the straws 58 and 59 are inserted. These being open, this control circuit is itself or green and the current cannot pass. Consequently, the trade is not stopped.
h represents the moment when the shuttle arrives at the bottom of its box and i the moment when the emission of current in the aforementioned control circuit ceases.
In the above, it has been assumed that the frame was in good condition. If this is not so, the needle 41 is not pulled by the missing, broken or abnormally loose weft thread. Its heel 41a therefore remains in the bottom of the groove 47b and when the action of the coil 49 ceases (i.e. therefore at f), the pin 38 cannot return under the action of the spring 55, because it is locked by said heel 41a remained in the position shown in FIG. 6. Consequently, the straws 58 and 59 remain in contact and when the control circuit is energized (in g), the current can pass through them and cause the stop of the loom either directly or by the machine. intermediary of a suitable relay.
It should also be noted that, during the first stroke of the clapper, the comb strikes the needle 41 if the latter has remained rusty, and it brings it positively to the position in phantom lines of fig. 5, that is, it unlocks it.
This unlocking occurs substantially at point j of FIG. 8. 7c re shows the instant of closing of the step and L the one when the last pick is fully tight in the step.
Figs. 9 to 12 make it possible to complete the preceding explanations.
The loom shown comprises a device of the type described on each side of the fabric. 60.. The two coils 49a and 49b are supplied in parallel by a source 62 through a contact device 63 actuated by a cam 64 wedged on the crankshaft 25 of the loom.
The two groups of flakes 58a-59a and 58b-59b are arranged in series on a circuit supplied by a source 65 through a contact device 66 actuated by a cam 67 also wedged on the crankshaft 25, said circuit comprising the bo - Bine 30 controlling the stopping of the loom (for example acting on the disengagement of the latter).
Fig. 9 corresponds to the instant c of FIG. 8. The two coils 49a and 49b, being connected in parallel, act simultaneously to lower the two corresponding needles, but obviously only one of them catches the weft thread 32, as shown in FIG. 10, which corresponds to an instant between points e and f of FIG. 8. The cam 64, which had closed the contacts 63 controlling the coils, will let them open.
The needle corresponding to the coil 49a, unlocked by the traction of the weft thread, will rise and the contacts 58a-59a will open, while the other needle, which has not caught the weft thread, will remain locked, the corresponding contacts 58b-59b thus remaining closed. A moment later, the cam 67 will close the contacts 66, thus energizing the control circuit; this is the position shown in fig. 11 which corresponds to point g of FIG. 8. The contacts of the two devices being placed in series, the current will not be able to pass, since it will be stopped at 58a-59a, and the coil 30 will not be activated. The profession will not be stopped.
If, on the contrary, the weft had been absent or broken, the needle corresponding to the flakes 58a-59a would not have been rusted by the pulling of the thread and, consequently, said flakes would have remained in contact; the current could have passed and caused the disengagement.
Fig. 12 corresponds to a position in the vicinity of points j, 7c or L of fig. 8. The bat tant is in the process of ensuring the tightening of the last pick and it has unlocked the needles which have remained locked, ie normally the needle corresponding to the spool 49b which is located on the arrival side of the shuttle.
It will be noted that in the event of stoppage of the profession due to the breakage of the weft, it is not necessary to unlock either of the two needles. It is enough to restart the business. The leaf automatically unlocks. During the passage of the shuttle in reverse direction, the same phenomena are reproduced symmetrically, as can be understood without additional explanations.
The actuation of the feeler needles can also be provided by the clapper itself in its oscillation movement. On the other hand, in the embodiment of FIGS. 5 to 12, it should be noted that the unlocking of the needles, instead of being ensured directly by the clapper striking on them, can be done by a mechanical or electromagnetic device placed under the control either of the clapper, or of the tree of the trade (for example via a rotary switch).
