La. rotation du chapeau de mèche amène également le crochet 30 en prise avec une des dents 2;9' sur le côté de la. molette;
Pyrophoric lighter. The object of the invention is a pyrophoric lighter comprising a. housing on the upper part of which is mounted a thumbwheel.
The invention relates more particularly ment to a lighter of the type in which the wheel and the wick are. surrounded by a wick cap which can be opened by acting on a control lever and whose opening automatically produces a partial rotation of the thumbwheel and causes the wick to ignite, while releasing the control lever ,
the wick cap is automatically closed.
The object of the invention is characterized in that the control lever of the thumbwheel carries balls which press against the side plates extending the case upwards. Thanks to the balls, friction is reduced and the movement of the control lever is facilitated.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the lighter forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical section, showing the closed wick cap; Fig. 2 is a partial elevational view with parts in section, showing the wick cap open; Fi-. 3 is a plan view; ri ig. 4 is a section through the line IV-IV of the fi-. 1;
Fi-. 5 is a -section through the line V-V of FIG. 1, and fig. 6 is a perspective view of the wick skin cha, the control lever and associated parts.
The lighter comprises a housing 1 closed to its. upper part by a cover 2 and at its opposite end by a bottom 3, so as to form a closed container filled with an absorbent and constituent material. the fuel tank. A stone tube 4, closed at its lower end by a screw 7, passes through the tank, from cover 2 to bottom 3.
This tube contains a spring, not shown, by means of which a stone 8 is pressed against a wheel 6: mounted above the cover 2.
A tube at. wick 9 passes through aouverele 2 and through a gasket 10 mounted on it, in front of the. wheel 6; a wick 11, embedded in the absorbent material placed. in the reservoir, protrudes on the end of the tube 9 placed in the vicinity of the wheel 6. The bottom 3 has a filling opening closed by a screw 31.
The cover 2 comprises on each side a side plate 12 extending upwards between which is mounted a control lever 13 ,. This lever 13 has at its rear part a plate 14 of which. the. upper surface is knurled as shown in fig. $, the front end of this lever being fork-shaped. The wick cap 15 is pivoted between their ends.
of the fork of the lever 13 by means of the pivots 16 and can rotate on a shaft 17, mounted in the side plates 12, on which the wheel 6 is also rotatably mounted, the shaft 17 passing through a hole, eentrafl of the wheel and through trtiû: s 128 bathed in the wick ohap.
The pivots 16 are located above the shaft 17. A plate 20 is fixed by means of a wine 10 under the plate 14 of the lever 1D; the rear end of this plate 20 is curved and curved downwards, and protrudes slightly above the upper surface: of the plate 14 of the lever 13.
The curved end of the plate 2.0 cooperates with one end of a connecting rod 2.1 which is pivoted by means of a pin 212 at the lever 13 and whose sides protrude slightly beyond the plate 14.
The other end of the connecting rod 21 is pivoted at 2-3, on the side plates f2 @. A link 24 passing through a slot formed at the upper end of the link 21 is also pivoted on the pin 22., and the curved end of the plate 20 also cooperates with one end of the link 24.
The other end of the connecting rod 24 is pivoted by means of a city plug 25 on the fork-shaped upper end of a tube 26 which passes through the cover 2 and can slide through a tube 27 screwed into the cover 2. A spring 28, mounted inside the tubes 2! 6 and 2 7, tends to push the tube 26 upwards.
The mold 6 has, on a side face, ratchet teeth 29 with which a flexible hook 30, fixed to one side of the wick cap 15, can engage.
The lever 13 has two cavities on each side. 32 in which are placed the balls D3 @ These balls are pushed outwards by springs. 34 which are placed in recesses of a part 35 projecting downwardly on the. plate 210, so that the balls press against the lateral plates 12.
The operation of the lighter described is as follows: the knurled part 14 of the organ 13 is pressed, for example by means of the thumb, to the right of a fig. 2. by pushing slightly downwards, so that the lever 13 is pushed into the position shown in fig. 2; in this movement, the connecting rod 21 rotates around the pivot 218 and the connecting rod 24 around the pivot 215, the balls. 38. rolling.
against the side plate 12 and the tube 2'6 being pushed down against it, the res 2'8 which it compresses. The lever 13, not moving to the right, acts on the wick cap there which pivots around the axis 17 and suddenly rises to the green position shown in fig. 2.
The rotation of the wick cap also brings the hook 30 into engagement with one of the teeth 2; 9 'on the side of the. scroll wheel;
this is rotated and produces sparks which ignite the wick. When the pressure on part 14 ceases, the compressed spring 28 pushes back the tube 26 and, therefore, the lever 13 and binds, wick cap 15 in the opposite direction, so as to close the wick cap. During this return movement,
the wheel is not rotated, because the hook 30 slides over the teeth 2.9 of the wheel.
