L'objet de la présente invention est un étau, notamment pour établi d'horlogerie, qui est conçu de façon qu'on puisse le mettre ins tantanément en place et l'y fixer assez solide ment pour pouvoir effectuer, avec son aide, les travaux courants. Cet étau comporte une tête de fixation destinée à être introduite dans une glissière prévue pour être fixée sur un établi, ladite tête étant susceptible d'être déplacée par rapport au corps de l'étau au moyen d'un excentrique, ce corps pouvant être immobilisé sur la glissière en rappro chant ladite tête dudit corps au moyen de l'excentrique. Le corps de cet étau peut donc être mis en place sur la glissière au moyen d'une seule main et enlevé de la même façon lorsqu'il est inutile.
Le dessin représente, à titre d'exemple, une forme d'exécution de l'étau selon l'inven tion.

Le corps de l'étau représenté possède une surface d'appui usinée 1 qui est destinée à être posée sur une glissière 2 destinée à être fixée à un établi par des vis. Dans cette glis sière trouve place une tête de fixation 3 prévue à l'extrémité d'un plongeur 4 percé d'un trou 5. Dans ce dernier pénètre une tige 6 dont une partie 7 est usinée pour former un excentrique que l'on peut manier au moyen d'un levier 8 pénétrant dans une tête 9. Cette dernière situe la position exacte de l'excentrique 7 à l'intérieur du corps de l'étau où il traverse également le trou 5 du plongeur 4.
Lorsque la glissière 2 est en place sur l'établi, la tête 3 est introduite dans la rai nure 10 de cette glissière 2 et peut y glisser librement. En tournant l'arbre 6, on fait agir l'excentrique 7 sur le plongeur 4 pour rap procher la tête 8 du corps de l'étau, ce qui la serre contre la partie supérieure<B>Il</B> de la glissière.
L'étau représenté et décrit n'est pas soumis â de gros efforts, si bien que la fixa tion décrite, qui coopère aussi avec une butée 12 du corps de l'étau, butée s'appuyant contre le bord de l'établi, suffit amplement pour maintenir l'étau en place.
