Chopping board. Chopping boards used for chopping, chopping, etc. cold or hot foods, etc., made from a planed board, have various disadvantages in that the wood fibers of which they are made extend parallel to their work surface. Indeed, they are easily veiled under the effect of humidity or steam, they dull the edges of choppers, knives and other tools with which they are used, they easily lose splinters of wood because the fibers of this are, in use, cut along their length and these splinters are mixed with the processed foods; in addition, they generally do not offer sufficient resistance to the striking necessary for the breaking of bones or for the preparation of meats.
The present invention relates to a chopping board which, in order to remedy these drawbacks, is characterized in that it comprises prismatic wooden elements, assembled side by side and in such a way that the general direction of the woody fibers of these elements is perpendicular to the working surface of the board, these elements being held together by a metal frame.
This frame can, for example, com wear one or more tie rods or be constituted by a metal belt.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan with parts in section of this embodiment, and FIG. 2 is a section along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
The chopping board shown comprises twelve wooden elements 1, for example hardwood, which are prisms of square section. These prisms are assembled side by side so that the. -direction. general of their woody fibers is perpendicular to the working surfaces of the board.
In fact, the sides: of the prisms constituting the surfaces 2 correspond to planes perpendicular to the median line, of the trunk of the tree -: these prisms have come from. The veins
