Shoe brakes, in particular for motor vehicles. The invention relates to a shoe brake, especially for motor vehicles, with two or more brake shoes. The shoe brake according to the invention has the following features: 1. The brake shoes can be displaced both in the radial direction and in each drum rotation direction; 2. The jaws are supported in every direction of rotation of the drum on fixed stops on the brake shoe carrier; 3. Every two adjacent ends of all Bati ken are in operative connection with a brake toggle mounted displaceably on the brake shoe carrier.
This arrangement makes it possible to let the brake toggle act on both jaw ends. However, since the jaws can move in the direction of rotation of the drum, the brake toggles are also mounted displaceably according to the invention, so that they can take part in the jaw displacement without being impaired in their mode of operation. The invention is used with particular advantage in shoe brakes with more than two brake shoes.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing, in which FIG. 1 shows a view of the shoe brake, FIG. 2 shows a section on a larger scale along line II-II of FIG. 1 and FIG. 3 shows a section. according to line III-III of FIG.
Within the brake drum, not shown, three brake shoes 1, 2 and 3 connected to each other mitein by means of tension springs are arranged. Each of these three completely symmetrical jaws is supported at one end on a bolt-shaped stop 4 and at the other end on a stock 6 of the brake shoe carrier 5.
The part of the brake shoe carrier 5 having the stops is shown in section in FIG. The jaw 3 engages in a slot 7 of the support 6 by being displaceable in the radial direction. The other two jaws are supported in the same way. Due to the special design of the jaw end 8 of each jaw a pivoting effect of the jaws around the bolt-shaped stop 4 is possible.
End between two adjacent jaws on the brake shoe carrier 5 gela Gerter brake toggle 9 is provided (Fig. 3). The toggle arm 10 has a recess 11 on the underside, which enables a shift on the bearing pin 12 of the brake shoe carrier 5.
The arms 10 of the brake toggle 9 are connected via tension members 13 to a ring 14 which is concentric to the brake drum axis and which can be rotated by a tension cable 15.
To brake, pull the cable 1,3 and thereby twist the ring 14. The rotary movement is transmitted via .die approximately tangentially engaging tension members 13 on the ring 14: the toggle arms 10 and thus to the brake toggles 9. The toggles 9 spread apart the adjacent brake shoes in a known manner. When applying to the drum, the brake shoes are taken along somewhat in the direction of drum rotation and depending on the direction of rotation of the drum, either the bolts 4 or the 6 stops are applied. The brake toggles take part in this displacement movement of the jaws without the mode of operation of the toggles being changed.
Compared to known. The shoe brake described has the greatest advantage of shoe brakes. , short overall length. The drum circumference is used in a particularly advantageous manner almost to the full extent for braking, whereby a deformation of the brake drum, as occurs in known two shoe brakes, is avoided. The brake is also characterized by its similar effect in both directions of travel as well as by even pad wear. Another advantage is the simple design, which results from the symmetry of all parts.
