Description

Daniel Allemand, Bienne (Suisse.

Daniel Allemand, Bienne (Switzerland. The present invention relates to a nut intended to be used in particular in the assemblies of two pieces of wood or other material, subjected to a force tending to separate them, in bridges, frames, furniture, etc. .

The appended drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the nut according to the invention, as well as two assemblies executed with this nut. Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section of the nut. Fig. ? gives a side view and fig. î one from above.

In the nut shown in these figures, the bearing surface a is a cylindrical surface and the axis of the tapping b is perpendicular to the axis of this surface. The nut is inscribed in the cylinder to which said surface belongs.

The examples shown in fig. 4, 5 and 6 show the advantages offered by this nut. The example of fig. 4 and 5 shows that we can connect the beams 4 and 5, subjected to. an effort tending to separate them, by means of a single screw and a single nut, whereas the means used hitherto required at least two bolts and two iron plates (cheeks). In addition, while the means used until now often transmitted the forces ex-centrically, the nut in question makes it possible to transmit these forces in the theoretical axes of the beams.

In this example of assembly, the beams 4 and 5 are subjected to a traction, the beam 6 to a pressure against the node of the axes. A nut such as that of fig. 1, and 3 is introduced perpendicular to the axis of the beam 4 which is to be assembled to the beam 5; an ordinary set screw \ ?. crossing the two beams and provided with a washer 3, transmits the traction of the beam 4 to the beam 5 and holds them securely in place. The beam 6 transmitting only pressure to the system is only fixed by the tenon 7.

This arrangement makes it possible to carry out assemblies using only simple and common tools: punch holes. In addition, despite its small dimensions, the nut offers a sturdy support base (since it is perpendicular to the wood fibers) therefore capable of supporting the maximum load.

Fig. 6 shows another example of assembly, it is here to connect and fix the cover 3 of a removable cabinet to his. vertical wall 4, so that no metal part is visible or obstructs. To do this, a cylindrical hole is drilled in the wall 4 where a nut 1 of the type described is inserted, which will be masked by means of the stopper 6. The parts 3 and 4 are tightened strongly. by means of screw 2 and we hide the screw head \? by means (read stopper î.
