Description
Cold-resistant zack, as well as the method for its manufacture. Under certain circumstances, for example in aircraft construction, the use of paints, be it z. B. as anti-corrosive paint, as impregnating varnish or as insulating varnish for electrical equipment, for purposes who require the, in which they are exposed to particularly low temperatures down to - 50 C.
The usual paints are more or less unsuitable for such a use. Under the influence of low temperatures, they become brittle and cracked and, as the temperature drops further, sometimes even tend to peel off the surface.
The surprising finding has now been made that paints which contain a certain amount of oil-reactive phenolformaldehyde resins, such as those obtained by alkali condensation of more highly alkylated phenols with formaldehyde, and wood oil in a ratio of 1: 2, are able to withstand low temperatures down to -5 C without suffering damage and at the same time retain sufficient elasticity.
To produce the paint according to the invention, suitable at the low temperatures mentioned, 30 parts of wood oil and 15 parts of an oil-reactive phenol-formaldehyde resin can be boiled together and mixed with the usual drying agents and solvents required.
In addition to wood oil, other oils, e.g. B. linseed oil, are added to the paint. It is also possible, please include to use the paint according to the invention in such a way that it is mixed with another paint. The mixing ratio can vary within wide limits and, like the choice of paint to be mixed in, depends on the type of processing of the paint and the lowest temperatures to which it can be exposed.
For example, the varnish described above can be mixed for impregnation purposes in a ratio of 1: 1 with a varnish consisting of 90 parts of linseed oil, 10 parts of wood oil, 15 parts of a synthetic resin, 5 parts of paraffin and the usual drying agents and solvents consists.
