Briquet pyrophorique.
Pyrophoric lighter. Pyrophoric lighters, more commonly called pocket lighters, currently on the market, have been perfected from all points of view, with the exception of the possibility of easily adjusting the useful length of the wick. The latter is in fact strongly clamped in the channel through which it emerges from the fuel tank and can only be extracted by means of tweezers, a delicate operation and often made impossible by the fact that the free part of the wick subjected to the sparks of the pyrophoric stone, when the gasoline is lacking, is found to be charred.
The aim of the present invention is to remedy this drawback by. providing a rotary member against which a tubular member, containing the wick and at least partially surrounding it, bears tangentially so as to be able to be driven axially during the rotation of the rotary member in the channel from which the wick emerges.
The accompanying drawing shows an axial section and @ on a greatly enlarged scale of part of an embodiment of the object of the invention.
A channel 2 is drilled in part 1, giving passage to wick 3, as well as to a wick-holder tube 4, in which the latter is slightly tightened.
Over at least part of its length, at 5, this tube is formed as a mesh, either by milling or by crushing, the teeth thus formed meshing with a rotating toothed member 6, which can be controlled by a flywheel. , accessible from the outside, but preferably mostly embedded in the wall, of the lighter box.
It is clear that by rotating the rotary member 6, the tube 4 will be brought up and down with the wick 3 '.
This arrangement will make it possible, given that the tube shown in its lowest position ends below the level of the upper orifice @ of the channel 2, ode to reinstall the wick in the latter by an amount equal to the height h without due the tube appears. This adjustment possibility will be sufficient for a very prolonged use of the lighter.
In the event that the wick should come to be because improved up to the level of the tube 4, a particular arrangement of the latter would nevertheless allow it to be brought back to a position allowing a new adjustment.
Indeed, the upper end of the tube 4 being cut into a whistle at 8, it suffices to make this part of the tube come out of the channel (position in phantom) to allow the bit to be grasped with pliers or even a simple pin and draw a certain amount out of the tube.
Returning the tube to the channel, the whole will return to its original position without further ado, again allowing simple mechanical adjustment to a height equal to la.
It is obvious, as it was said above, that it is not necessary that the tube 4 completely surrounds the wick and it would be in any case possible - to provide it split and even to give it a certain elasticity, intended to ensure fatty friction in the canal.
Finally, an interior stop could be provided, limiting the travel of the tube in the direction of introduction.
