Automatic turning machine. The present invention, due to Mr. Georges Cuttat, relates to an automatic lathe with sliding headstock comprising a certain number of members cooperating with one another so as to allow the shaping of manufactured products starting from a profiled bar.
Automatic lathes with sliding headstock of this type are already known comprising two camshaft elements perpendicular to each other and located one lengthwise and the other transversely with respect to the lathe. The lathe according to the present invention is characterized by the fact that it comprises exclusively, for the control of all the movements, disc cams (excluding cam-bells which are more bulky and more expensive to manufacture. ), those of these disc cams which control the transverse movements of the carriages and the longitudinal movement of the headstock being placed on the longitudinal element of the camshaft, while those of the disc cams which control the supports d The shafts working at the end of the bar are placed on the cross member.
An embodiment of the lathe which is the subject of the invention is described below, by way of example, and is shown in the accompanying sins, in which FIG. 1 is a front elevational view; fig. 2 is a side elevational view of the control side of the headstock; fig. 3 shows the detail of the coupling and the assembly of the camshaft, and fig. 4 is a rear view in elevation.
The lathe receives its movement from an electric motor 1, mounted in a cradle 2 capable of oscillating about a pivot 3 integral with the bowl frame 4 (FIG. 2). The motor 1, via the belt 5, turns the main shaft 6 which determines the independent rotary control movements of the spindle headstock, of the camshaft, of the drilling devices, of the screw tap. - housing, etc., these rotary movements remaining independent of each other.
The shaft 6 directly controls, via the belt 7, the rotation of the spindle shaft 8.
The shaft 6 is particularly supported by a movable bearing 9, the rapid disassembly of which allows the possible introduction or replacement of the belt 7 without any further disassembly of the organ. We can therefore use an endless belt.
A pulley 11 wedged on the shaft 6 drives, by means of a belt 12, another pulley 13 driving a worm 14 acting, via appropriate gears, forming a speed change, on a pulley. 15 which drives, via the belt 16, the worm 17 engaged with a helical wheel 18 wedged on the camshaft 19.
On the other hand, the motor 1, through the intermediary of a belt 21 (fig. 2), can control a right-angle gear 22 acting, via the pulleys 23, 24 and the belt 25. , on the shaft of the worm 17. On this shaft is interposed (fig. 2) a clutch with friction cones 26 allowing, by means of a lever, to couple at will with the screw 17 the one or the other of the commands coming from the engine 1 and consequently to rotate the cams more quickly at will during non-productive times.
The shaft 19, carrying the cams 27 (detail in fig. 3) is formed of two sections having a certain interval between their ends and joined, according to Swiss patent No. 218165, by a coupling sleeve 28. The displacement This coupling sleeve 28 enables the gap between the shaft ends to be cleared and the cams 27 to pass through this gap in order to replace them with others.
The position of these cams 27 and the control of the work carriages have been specially designed to avoid any transverse reactions on the axes and levers.
The camshaft 19 carries a cam 30, in contact with a roller 31 mounted on a lever 32, pivoting on an axis d3. tn second roller 34 carried by the lever 32 is in contact with a slide 35 actuating a roller 36 integral with the lever 37 acting directly on the doll 38 by means of the slider 39 adjustable in position. The purpose of this adjustment will be to vary the ratio of the lever arms and thus to adjust the stroke obtained on the headstock relative to the initial stroke of the cam. For the details of said control, reference will moreover be made to Swiss patent No. 218146 of the applicant and entitled: Device for longitudinal control of the headstock in automatic lathes.
The camshaft 19 located at the front of the machine therefore has the adjustment of all movements in a very accessible manner; the disassembly and the adjustment of the cams are facilitated by the adaptation of the rigid coupling sleeve 28.
The position of the cams 27 has been specially designed so that the cam contact device, the transverse axis of the levers, the connecting rods and the adjustable contact screws pushing on the working carriages remain continuously in the same plane, considerably reducing the forces on the components and completely eliminating all transverse bending reactions on the axes and levers; which is a very particular advantage of this machine.
To control the longitudinal movements to the axis of the machine and to maintain the principle of the forces distributed directly, it was necessary to use a camshaft element 40 perpendicular to the main shaft 19; the connection of these two shafts is effected by a bevel pair 49 with spiral den ture. The position of the cams 27 has been redesigned so that the contact on the cam, the thrust on the carriages and the pivoting center of the levers are situated on the same line which merges with the axis of these levers.
The machine shown by way of example in the drawings comprises four tool carriages 41, 44, 45, 46; including a rocker 41, each of these tool-holder carriages possibly having one or more tools. The rocker 41 of known model is produced with direct drive on cam 27, and comprises two tools placed symmetrically with respect to the working bar and which can only come into contact with the latter by altering natively.
The other tools, on the other hand, are independent and can work together or in succession. They are carried by carriages 44, 45, 46 commanded directly, so that the forces transmitted from the point of contact of the roller on the cam to the point of pressure on the smooth neck are in the same plane, this last transmission being made by the levers 51, 52 and 59 bearing on the cams, the intermediate connecting rods 58, 54 and 55. and the levers 56, 57 and 58 attacking the carriages; only the carriage 44 additionally comprises an intermediate lever 59 and a connecting rod 60, but its transmission device remains in accordance with the principle of transmission forces taking place in the same plane.
In addition to these four tool-holder carriages, the machine additionally receives bar end shaping devices, the tool supports of these devices being controlled by cams placed on the transverse element 40 of the shaft. cams. These shaping devices are intended for the various drilling, threading, reaming, single or combined work depending on the device affected.
