Automatic turning machine. The present invention, due to Mr. Georges Cuttat, relates to an automatic lathe with fixed headstock turning comprising a set of members cooperating with each other so as to allow the shaping of manufactured products starting from a profile bar. round, square or other.
This automatic lathe is characterized by the fact that the camshaft controlling the movements of the tool-holder carriages is formed of two elements perpendicular to one another and being driven reciprocally, one of these elements, arranged according to the width of the tower, controlling the longitudinal movements of the carriages, and the other element, arranged according to the width of the oven, controlling their transverse movements.
One embodiment of an automatic lathe according to the present invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is a front elevation view; fig. 2 is a side elevation, engine side; fig. 3 shows the detail of the camshaft coupling; fig. 4 is a rear elevational view; fig. 5 shows a view perpendicular to the previous one, some parts having been removed, for clarity, and FIG. 6 shows a control variant of the front carriage with longitudinal displacement.
The lathe receives its movement from an electric motor 1, mounted in a cradle 2 capable of oscillating about a pivot 3 integral with the bowl frame 4 (FIG. 2). The motor 1, via the belt 5, turns the main shaft 6 which determines the independent rotary control movements of the spindle headstock, of the camshaft, of the drilling devices, of the screw tap. dage, etc., these rotary movements remaining independent of each other. The shaft 6 directly controls, via the belt 7, the rotation of the spindle shaft 8.
The shaft 6 is particularly supported by a movable bearing 9, the rapid disassembly of which allows the possible introduction or replacement of the belt 7 without any further disassembly of the organ. We can therefore use an endless belt.
A pulley 11 wedged on the shaft 6 behind, by means of a belt 12, another pulley 13 driving a worm 14 acting, by means of appropriate gears, forming a change of speed, on a pulley 15 which drives via the belt 16, the, worm 17 engaged with a helical wheel 18 wedged on the camshaft 1.9.
On the other hand, the motor 1, through the intermediary of a belt 21 (fig. \?) Can command a right-angle gear 22 acting, via the pulleys 23, 24 and the belt 25 , on the worm shaft 17. On this shaft is interposed a clutch. friction cones 26 making it possible, by means of a lever 27, to couple at will with the screw 17 one or the other of the controls coming from the engine 1 and, consequently, to make the cams turn more quickly at will during unproductive times.
The shaft 19 carrying the cams 27 (detail on the fi, -. 3) is in the form of two sections having between their ends a certain interval and joined, as described in Swiss patent No. 218165 in the name of the applicant, by a Coupling sleeve 28. The displacement of this coupling sleeve 28 enables the gap between the shaft ends to be cleared and the cams 27 to pass through this gap in order to replace them with others.
The position of these cams 27 and the control of the work carriages have been specially designed to avoid any transverse reactions on the axes and levers.
In order to be able to obtain this result in all cases, the control of the longitudinal movements with respect to the axis of the machine is provided by a camshaft element 31., arranged along the width of the lathe and perpendicular to the machine. 'main camshaft element 19, the connection of the two shafts being provided by bevel gear 32 with spiral toothing. The cams of this perpendicular shaft are designated by 33.
The machine described has five tool carriers 34, 35, 3 6 , 3 7 and 38, as well as an adjustable stop 39 (fig. 4 and 5). One of the tool-holder carriages 34 is shown as having two crossed slides. The median slide can take a longitudinal movement with respect to the axis of the lathe by sliding in a lower slider fixed on the bench of the lathe, and its displacement is controlled by a lever 44. On this smooth median neck, and square with it is mounted an upper slide controlled by means of the lever 45 and which ensures the position of the tool during bar turning.
The connection of this lever 45 with the camshaft is made by means of the connecting rod 46 and an intermediate lever 47 bearing on the camshaft 48 thanks to. In this method of construction, the transmission of forces from the cam to the tool takes place in the same plane.
In the detailed figure 5, the carriage 35 has been shown as capable of taking a single transverse displacement with respect to the axis of the lathe, but it could, as shown in FIG. 6, be carried out with two smooth crossed necks in a manner identical to the carriage 34. In this case, the longitudinal displacement lever would be the only one not to carry out the transmission of forces in the same plane, the attack on the cam being done by the lever 42 and the thrust on the slide being produced by the lever 43. The precision of the displacement will be obtained by a rigid assembly of the levers 42 and 43 on the axis 41, in order to cancel the torsional forces. The transverse positioning of the tool holder is obtained by the lever 49.
The tool carriers 36, 37 and 38 are also directly controlled and the transmission forces between the roller bearing on the cam and the thrust point on the slide are all in the same plane, this transmission taking place by means of the levers 50, 51 and 52 bearing on the cams, intermediate connecting rods 53, 54 and 55, and finally levers 5,6, 57 and 58 attacking the carriages on slides. Only the carriage 37 additionally comprises an intermediate lever 59 and a connecting rod 60 without however this in any way changing the new principle relating to the transmission of control forces.
In addition to these tool trolleys, the machine can additionally receive bar end shaping devices for the various drilling, threading, random, simple or combined jobs, depending on the use of the device, and possibly auxiliary devices for drilling, threading, etc., supplied by a transport arm.
