Trailer for cycles and motorcycles. The present invention relates to a trailer for cycles and motorcycles, comprising a frame with a shock absorber device, characterized in that each wheel of the trailer is mounted in a support capable of pivoting, against the effect of minus one compensating spring, on a horizontal axis fixed to the chassis of the trailer.
The purpose of the trailer according to the invention is to prevent accidents on the ground from jumping the entire trailer and the load of goods it contains. The compensating spring device absorbs the shocks imparted to the trailer wheel.
Two embodiments of the trailer according to the invention are shown, by way of example, in the attached drawing, in which: FIGS. 1 and 1a are side views of the two embodiments; fig. 2 is a top view of the embodiment shown in FIG. 1 and showing in dotted lines the particular parts of the second embodiment; fig. 3 is a side view of a detail of the first embodiment, on a larger scale.
To the chassis 1 of the trailer is fixed a horizontal axis 2 passing transversely under the rear part of the chassis and protruding on both sides thereof. In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, each of the two wheels 3 of the trailer is surrounded horizontally by a fork 4 having two parallel branches, on which the axle 5, comprising a wheel 3, is fixed in a known manner. At the rear end of the two parallel branches of the fork 4 is welded a sleeve 6, by which this fork is freely mounted on the bearing surface of the projecting axis 2, so that it can pivot on this axis.
The opposite end of the fork 4 is elastically connected to the frame 1 by means of a horizontal coil spring 7. The connection of this spring, on the one hand with the fork 4, and on the other hand with a projection 8 of the frame, is made by articulation members, a fork 9 of which carries in an annular groove 10 the rolled end of the spring. The fork 9 is provided with a transverse pin 11 which is hand held in position by a pin IL). A rod 13 is articulated on this pin 11 and penetrates, with its threaded part, into the end of the fork 4, respectively into the end of the projection &, where it is retained by means of a nut 14.
The nut 14 of the attachment to the projection 8 can simultaneously be used to adjust the tension of the coil spring 7. The articulation members allow the spring to work without torsion.
In the embodiment shown in fig. 1a, the shock absorber device is arranged so that the horizontal axis 2, on which the support 15 comprising the wheel 3 of the trailer pivots, is located between this wheel and the compensating spring 16. The support 15 comprises a sleeve 17, with which it is freely mounted on the bearing surface of the projecting horizontal axis 2, a fork 18 which carries the wheel 3 of the trailer and an arm 19 which extends in the direction opposite to that of the fork. The spring 16 is fixed, on the one hand, to a projection 20 of the frame and, on the other hand, to the arm 19 of the support 15 by means of a nut 21 in one of the holes 22 arranged in line with the arm. By changing the spring attachment point on the arm, the spring tension can be varied.
Several springs may be provided per wheel of the trailer, each of which may be provided with a separate articulated attachment. The position of the compensating spring may be horizontal, vertical or inclined, and the horizontal axis of the damper device may be in front of the wheel.
