Threading lathe. We know that pruning multiple threads is always a very long operation. In general, the position of the spindle carrying the. part to be threaded in relation to the tool, and cut one thread after another.
Today there are automatic devices for the size of multiple threads which use a provisionally cut guide thread and which make it possible to cut the different ones. threads - fairly precisely in relation to each other, when the threads are short. For long threads, the precision is insufficient and the parts can no longer be screwed onto each other. In addition, these devices are very delicate, of adjustment.
As a result, unless you have very large series of parts to make, they cannot be used. The object of the present invention is to allow the fully automatic size of multiple threads, while eliminating the aforementioned disadvantages, by means of a lathe comprising two main parts, the fixed part in which the shaft carrying the part to be threaded turns, and the mobile part carrying the tool,
and in which the cycle of the threading operations is controlled by a single member, means being provided for the automatic control of the successive operations of the work as well as for the control of the stopping of the members. of the mobile part when the cycle of operations is completed.
This lathe is characterized in that in order to allow the cutting of multiple threads, a device is provided which, controlled by the movements of the movable part, automatically causes, during the return stroke of the tool, a relative angular offset. between the shaft carrying the piece to be threaded and a member for controlling the longitudinal movements of the moving part.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example and schematically, an embodiment of the subject of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a front view; Fig. 2- is an axial section along the line I-I of FIG. 1. In a train of interchangeable gears, the first gear 1 of which is integral with the shaft carrying the workpiece, est. provided a pinion 2 rotating freely on a sleeve 3 and whose coupling with the next pinion 4 is achieved by means of a notched wheel 5 and a pawl 6. In the embodiment shown in the drawing, the sleeve 3 came in one piece with the notched wheel 5.
On the free end of this sleeve 3 is keyed the pinion 4 which is itself engaged by means of a series of other pinions (not shown) with a control member of the longitudinal movements of the part. tour mobile.
This mobile part is generally constituted by a carriage controlled by a lead screw (not shown in the drawing).
The pawl 6, subjected to the action of a res out 7 tending to keep it in engagement with the notches of the wheel 5, is pivoted on an axis 8 integral with the pinion 2.
One of the ends of the pawl 6 com carries a lug 9 intended to slide in a slot 11) provided on an oscillating lever 11 pivoted at 12 on the pinion 2, and a boss 13 forming a cam, intended to engage during the return of the carriage with a spout 14 of a pawl control member: 6 consisting of a lever 15 pivoted on an axis 16 integral with a fixed part. This last lever 15 is maintained, during the advance of said carriage, outside the path of the boss 13 by means of a spring 17. The active positioning of this lever 15 is controlled by means of a member mechanically connected to the carriage, so that this member strictly follows the movements of the carriage.
This member is constituted by a rod 18 which passes through the frame of the. doll (not shown in the drawing). This rod 18 carries on its end an oscillating cleat 19 pivoted on an axis 20 integral with the rod 18. This cleat 19 is subjected to the action of a spring 21, housed in the rod 18, tending to hold its face 2 by hand. \? against the bottom of a groove 23 made in the end of the rod 18. When the carriage recedes, this latch 19 attacks the lever 15 and lowers it against the action of its spring 7, in order to bring its nozzle 14 on the path of boss 13.
A lock consisting of a lever 24 pivoted on an axis 25 integral with a fixed part is subjected to the action of a spring M tending to keep it in contact with the free end of the lever 15. This lever 24 has a clearance 27 in which the free end of the lever 15 comes sc @ lodge when the latter is lowered by the cleat 19. Thus, the lever 15, armed during the retraction of the carriage by the cleat 19, is held in the armed position by lever 24.
The free end of the lever 24 is of sufficient length to engage with a nose 28 formed on the free end of the oscillating lever 11, when the latter is held in the active position (position shown in the drawing) by the pawl 6.
Thus, during its passage, the oscillating lever 11 pushes the lever 24 which unlocks the lever 1'S which, in turn, releases the pawl 6. The latter, under the action of its spring 7, again engages. with one of the notches of the wheel 5, and the nose 28 disappears behind the boss 13 ,.
The operation of the device is therefore extremely simple.
While the carriage is moving back, the latch 19 arms the lever 1.5. The beak 14 of the latter engaging with the boss 13 of the pawl 6 disengages the latter from the notch of the wheel 5 with which it is engaged. At this time, the interchangeable gears engaged with the lead screw are no longer driven by their control pin 1 integral with the shaft carrying the part to be threaded.
The notched wheel 5 therefore decreases in speed, then, when the pawl 6 has passed above the point of the notch with which it was engaged, the end 2'8 of the oscillating lever 11 coming into engagement with the the end of the lever 24, unlocks the lever 15 which releases the pawl 6. The latter falls on the back of the notch with which it was engaged, then, due to the slowing down of the movement of the wheel 5, it slides into the bottom of the next notch. and engages with the latter to again drive the notched wheel 5 and therefore the screw. mother at normal speed.
Thus, the lead screw has suffered an angular delay with respect to the shaft carrying the part to be threaded. Therefore, for the same angular position of the latter, the carriage is in one position. closer to its starting stop than previously. The tool engagement movement being controlled by the movements of the carriage (see main patent), the tool is therefore engaged in the workpiece a fraction of a turn of the latter later than before. The tool therefore cuts a new thread.
Thus, it suffices to provide a simple ratio between the diameters of the pinions 1 and 2 to obtain a number of notches on the notched wheel. proportional to the number of fillets desired.
During the advancement of the carriage, the oscillating cleat 19, abutting on lever 15, oscillates against the action of its spring 21 and disappears.
It is obvious that the object of the present invention, shown schematically in the drawing and described here by way of example, can be constructed differently and be adapted to different types of towers. However, one of the advantages of the embodiment shown is its great constructive simplicity and its robustness. In addition, we will notice that the only part that needs to be changed in order to make: parts with two, three or four nested threads, is the notched wheel 5. It is also the only part that must s be machined with great precision if it is desired to obtain precise multiple threads.
The adjustment of the device for multiple threads is, as can be appreciated, extremely easy, since it suffices to set the wheel with the number of notches corresponding to the number of nested threads desired.
If one wishes to carry out simple threads, it suffices to remove the control of the rod 18 by the carriage. We then have the pos sibility of making threads the beginning or end of which is always located at the same angle on all the parts of a series.
With a view to obtaining completely safe operation, that is to say that the pawl 6 does not; There is no risk of falling back into the same notch, it is possible to place on one of the hubs of one of the interchangeable gears, a brake for example. However, it is advantageous to brake them as little as possible. interchangeable pinions, in order to avoid any collision when the pawl 6 comes into contact with a notch of the wheel 5 due to too great a speed difference between the latter and its drive pawl 6.
According to the embodiment of the device shown schematically in the drawing, a needle bearing 29 is provided between the sleeve 3 and the pinion 2, but it is obvious that this could be replaced by any other known type of bearing (ball or friction).
If one wishes to obtain greater rigidity of the axis of the pawl 6 and therefore more precision, the free end of this axis can be guided in a housing provided, for example in a part rigidly fixed to the pinion. 2.
