Additional patent to main patent no. 200068. Process for the production of an acidic wool dye. Iin main patent no. 200068 a process is described for the production of an acidic wool dye material, which consists of nitro compounds of the general formula
EMI0001.0003
where Y denotes halogen or an alkoxy group, condensed with aminosulfonic acids of the diphenylamine or carbazole series.
It has now been found that analog dyes with the same valuable properties can be obtained if the process mentioned is based on nitro compounds which correspond to the following general formula:
EMI0001.0011
wherein Ri and R2 are monovalent radicals, at least one of which is a cyano group or contains a carboxyl or concrete group, and Y has the meaning given above.
Compounds that correspond to this formula are, for. B. mentioned: 4-chloro-3-nitrobenzylidenecyanoacetate, 4-chloro-3-nitro-benzylidene-cyanoacetamide, 4-chloro-3-nitro-cinnamic acid, 4-chloro. 3-nitrobenzalacetophenone, all of which are easily obtained from 4 -Chlor-3-nitrobenzaldehyde can be obtained.
The process is otherwise carried out in the same way as described in the main patent, using the same aminosulfonic acids of the diphenylamine and carbazole series.
The present patent relates to a process for the production of an acidic wool dye, characterized in that 4-chloro-3-nitrobenzylidene cyanoacetate is condensed with 4-aminodiphenylamine-2-sulfonic acid.
The new dye thus obtained dyes wool in brown shades of excellent levelness and very good lightfastness. Example: 26.4 parts of 4-amirrodipherrylarnine-2-sulforic acid, 28 parts of 4-chloro-3-nitrobenzylidene cyarressig ester and 14 parts of potassium carbonate are refluxed with about 300 parts of alcohol for about 8 hours heated to boiling. After cooling, the brown dye which has precipitated out is filtered off with suction and appropriately purified by dissolving it again in water and then salting out.
