(OH) =? Al(OH), + 3 Na_SO, Hierzu löst man 360 g Natriumhydroxyd in 1 Liter destilliertem Wasser.
Process for the preparation of a product suitable as an antiseptic and preservative. The invention relates to a process for the production of a product suitable as an antiseptic and preservative. The purpose of the process is to make use of the property of metallic silver that bacteria die if it is present.
It is characterized in that from a solution containing silver nitrate, a salt that does not react with silver nitrate and contains formaldehyde, the silver is extracted from the silver nitrate by adding an alkali hydroxide and at the same time with the Ilydroxyd of the metal, which which contains salt that does not react with silver nitrate, is precipitated.
When calculating the amount of alkali metal hydroxide to be used, the silver nitrate content of the solution can be neglected, because experiments have shown that silver, which is preferably present in small amounts in the solution, is also precipitated as hydroxide if that Alkali hydroxide is only added to the solution in an amount which is equivalent to the salt present, which does not react with the silver nitrate.
However, the alkali hydroxide can of course also be added to the solution in an amount that is equivalent to the salt mentioned, which does not react with silver nitrate, and the silver nitrate:
It is already known that metals, especially silver, are very finely distributed on all possible objects and, substances there, are knocked down by, since the substances are brought into contact with the corresponding metal solution and then the metal is passed through Addition of precipitating agents, such as formaldehyde,
to adhere firmly to the carrier.
It is also known that the oligodynamic effect of metallic silver can be increased by the presence of silver chloride. A mixture of silver and silver chloride kills bacteria even faster than pure metallic: silver.
Due to the presence of silver chloride in metallic silver, local elements are formed which cause the increased oli odynamic effect of this mixture.
In the present process, a carrier consisting of the hydroxide of the metal and the salt that does not react with the silver nitrate is produced with the metallic silver at the same time, whereby a particularly strong adhesion and a particularly fine distribution of the silver can be achieved . This is possible because silver nitrate is resistant to some aluminum and magnesium salts.
It has been shown that the oligodynamic effect of the preparations is particularly great when the precipitation of the silver together with the carrier was brought about at a temperature around zero degrees Celsius, because the silver crystals are obtained in a deformed form means with a particularly large surface, i.e. more effective.
If you add a small amount of water-soluble chloride to a mixture of an aluminum or magnesium salt compatible with silver nitrate before filling with alkali and formaldehyde, until it becomes slightly cloudy, a product is obtained after the precipitation, the metallic silver and silver chloride in finely divided form contains, which is oligodynamically particularly effective- @am eats.
.4 examples of execution: 1. 1 kg of aluminum sulfate (A1, [S0,1I. 18 H ", 0) is dissolved in 6 liters of distilled water and 5 g of silver nitrate in distilled water are added. 40 cm of formaldehyde, 38%, added and cooled by adding ice, made from distilled water, to zero degrees Cel- sin: s.
The precipitation of the metallic silver with the aluminum hydroxide is done by adding the amount of sodium hydroxide equivalent to the aluminum sulfate according to the formula: Ah (S0,), -f- Na. (OH) =? Al (OH), + 3 Na_SO, To do this, dissolve 360 g of sodium hydroxide in 1 liter of distilled water.
This sodium hydroxide solution is also cooled with ice from distilled water and slowly added to the aforementioned solution. : With the precipitation of the hydroxide, the reduction of the silver nitrate to metallic silver takes place at the same time, whereby the intimate mixing is ensured.
The resulting dark precipitate is washed out to remove the sodium sulfate formed and dried by customary methods.
Yield 2.30 g of dry product with 1.3 / 00 'silver content. The material does not need to be dried, but can also be used as a pass. If desired, it can also be calcined without affecting the effectiveness. In this case the carrier turns into aluminum oxide. 2. 1 kg of magnesium sulfate (MgS0.7 H # 0) is dissolved in 5 liters of distilled water and 5 g of silver nitrate in distilled uracser are added.
After adding 40 cm of formaldehyde, 38% strength, and cooling with ice, 3216 g of sodium hydroxide are added to 1 liter of water while stirring. When the alkali is added, the silver nitrate is simultaneously converted into silver hydroxide, which is spontaneously reduced by the formaldehyde or metal: - tallisc.hem silver.
This results in firm adhesion of the silver to the magnesium hydroxide and intimate mixing. The suspension obtained, which has to react alkaline to litmus, is boiled after adding 2-3 liters of water in order to improve the filtration capacity, and the precipitate is filtered off while hot. It is advisable to wash with hot water until the wash water is free of sulfate.
The product obtained is dried by customary methods. Yield: 2.3.8 g with a content of 1 "35%; silver.
The product can also be annealed to an oxide without the ability to sterilize being significantly impaired.
3. To a mixture of 1 kg of aluminum sulfate, 5 g of silver nitrate, 40 cm of 38% formaldehyde in 6 liters of distilled water, 0.2 g of sodium chloride (NaCl) in 100 cm of water is added while stirring.
This creates a milky trot. Now one falls in the cold as aluminum hydroxide at the same time as the metallic silver by adding 3160 g sodium hydroxide in 1 liter of distilled water and the product obtained is processed as indicated in the first exemplary embodiment. 230 g of aluminum hydroxide are obtained which, in addition to metallic silver, contains a small amount of silver chloride.
It is important that an excess of alkali is avoided, since in an alkaline solution the silver chloride would also be reduced by the formaldehyde. If the alkali excess is avoided, the silver chloride is fully retained under the present conditions, while the silver nitrate is completely converted into metallic silver.
