Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
·The present invention relates to a method of treatment BEZW. Purification of kainite, without any mutual conversion of the potassium chlorine and magnesium sulphate he follows. ·
Dieser Umstand hat die Ansicht bestärkt, dafs Kainit aus Kaliumsulfat, Magnesiumsulfat, Chlormagnesium und Wasser bestehe, entsprechend der Formel:According to the previous methods of processing the kainite, potassium magnesium sulfate was made won or obtain. This fact has strengthened the view that Kainite was out Potassium sulphate, magnesium sulphate, chlorine magnesium and water, according to the formula:
K2 SOi Mg SO1 Mg Cl2 K 2 SO i Mg SO 1 Mg Cl 2
6H2O.6H 2 O.
After that, the known methods of treatment appear as an extraction of magnesium chloride.
Techn. 1866, S. 218), Tschermak (Sitzungsbericht der K. K. Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Wien, Band 63, Sei". I, S. 311 bis 314; Kopp und Will's Jahresbericht über die Fortschritte der Chemie, Jahrgang 1871, S. 1183), Erle η mai er u. A. (Kopp und Will's Jahresbericht über die Fortschritte der Chemie, Jahrgang 1869, S. 19; Berichte der deutschen chemischen Gesellschaft zu Berlin 1869, S. 289 bis 291) angegeben haben:In the kainite, however, potassium sulphate and chlorine magnesium are not present in ready-made form, but magnesium sulfate in addition to potassium chloride, and the formula for kainite is as Rammeisberg (Wagner's annual report of the formerly Techn. 1866, p. 218), Tschermak (Report of the meeting of the K. K. Academy of Sciences in Vienna, Volume 63, Sei ". I, p. 311 to 314; Kopp and Will's annual report on the progress of chemistry, year 1871, S. 1183), Erle η mai er and others (Kopp and Will's Annual report on the progress of chemistry, year 1869, p. 19; Reports of the German chemical society in Berlin 1869, pp. 289 to 291) have stated:
KClMgSO4 + 3H2O. KClMg SO 4 + 3H 2 O.
According to this view, the previous treatment methods are implemented in the kainite, being made from potassium chloride and a part of the magnesium sulphate chlorine magnesium and potassium sulphate are formed, which the latter forms with the other part of the magnesium sulphate Combined double salts.
The present method is intended to prevent such alternating decomposition from occurring and the potassium chloride and magnesium sulphate contained in kainite individually or together be won.
Regarding the conditions which influence the alternating decomposition of potassium chloride and magnesium sulphate and especially whether the result is potassium sulphate or its If it is the double salt with magnesium sulphate, it is generally thought that it matters in what proportion of the weight equivalents of potassium chloride and magnesium sulphate are present. Thorough experiments have shown, however, that it depends only on the quantity Magnesium, which, whether as sulphate or chloride, is contained in an aqueous solution from which the sulphates are precipitated or which are based on potassium chloride and Magnesium sulphate has an effect, depending on whether potassium sulphate or whether its double salt is used Magnesium sulphate is formed, or whether there is an alternating decomposition of potassium chloride and magnesium sulphate does not take place at all and both salts, individually or combined with one another, remain in a solid state respectively. pass into him.
Das vorliegende Verfahren beruht darauf, eine Wechselzersetzung zwischen dem Chlorkalium und Magnesiumsulfat des Kainits durchThe present process is based on an alternating decomposition between the chlorine potassium and magnesium sulfate of kainite
Prevent application of a magnesium chloride solution of suitable concentration.
For this purpose, the final liquor from the potassium chlorine factories, which is about 30 pCt. Chlorine of magnesium contains magnesium, which is to be used with advantage, as of course any other Magnesium chlorine solution of the same concentration.
To carry out the process, crushed kainite is boiled in open vessels such a chlorine magnesium solution. This removes crystal water from the kainite and it disintegrates into a fine powder that remains suspended in the liquid for a long time, while the impurities (rock salt, anhydride, etc.) remain unchanged on the ground stay.
As a result, the disintegrated kainite can be easily and completely removed by simply washing away or decanting separately from the residue consisting of the impurities will. The duration of the heating depends on the degree of crushing of the kainite; requires finer kainite less, more coarsely, on the other hand, more time.
From the liquid drained from the residue, the disintegrated kainite settles as a delicate sludge after standing for a long time. The supernatant fluid can again be used to treat new amounts of kainite. If it is allowed to cool, artificial carnallite (potassium chloride with magnesium chlorine and water) crystallizes out, since the boiling magnesium chloride solution dissolves only very insignificant amounts of the secondary constituents of kainite (rock salt, etc.) and of the magnesium sulphate, whereas larger amounts of the potassium chlorine dissolve. By increasing the hot magnesium chloride solution used, one can finally arrive at the point where all the potassium chloride in the kainite goes into solution and the suspended kainite residue is pure magnesium sulphate and has a chemical composition similar to that of kieserite (Mg SO 4 + .H 2 O). On the other hand, the collected potassium chlorine remains combined with the magnesium sulfate if the magnesium chlorine solution used has previously been saturated with potassium chlorine according to its temperature.
The lye can be removed from the sludge by pressing, suction or other suitable means. It consists mainly of KCl and Mg SO i and serves as the starting material for the manufacture of potassium sulphate and its double salts.
