Scooter convertible into a trolley. The object of the invention is a scooter convertible into a cart, the cart obtained by this transformation being able to serve as a hatchet, trailer or cart.
This scooter is -characterized by a frame comprising a platform carried by a frame whose ends are curved upwards, each end carrying a fork in which is mounted one of the wheels of the scooter, each fork being able to turn on an axis vertical and an extendable handlebar comprising two tubes, one of which slides in the other, being detachably connected to the fork of the front wheel, stop devices allowing, on the one hand, when using the scooter as such,
to fix the rear fork in place with the axis of the wheel transverse to the longitudinal axis of the scooter and, on the other hand, when converting the scooter into a cart, to fix the two forks in place with the axes wheels in continuation of one another, the frame having on one side a fixing device to which the handlebars are attached when the scooter is transformed into a cart, this handlebar then serving as a drawbar,
a rod articulated at its ends with the frame rising and being fixed to the handlebar serving as a drawbar to reinforce the latter, a canvas forming a bag being fixed by one edge to this rod and by the other to the frame.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a top view of this scooter.
Fig. 2 shows a side elevational view.
Fig. 3 shows a view from above of this scooter transformed into a cart.
Figs. 4 and 5 show details of the forks of the wheels and the attachment of the gui don.
Figs. 6 and 7 show two ways of using the cart.
The scooter shown comprises a frame having a rectangular metal platform 1 carried by a frame made of tubes 2. The ends of the frame are curved upwards and each carry a socket 3, respectively 4, with a vertical axis. The tubes 2 of the frame meet at the ends thereof, and there are fixed to the sockets. In the socket 3 turns the pivot of a fork 7 carrying the front wheel of the scooter. This pi vot is extended upwards by a part 5 to which the handlebar 6 is removably attached. The pivot of a fork 9 carrying the rear wheel engages in the socket 4, this pivot having an extension por as a small saddle 8.
The middle of the left frame rim is provided with a part 10 having a projection provided with a hole. The forked end Il of the handlebar engages on this projection when it is to be used as a drawbar. Rods 14 and 15 are articulated by their ends at 12 and 13 with the frame, one on each side of the latter. They follow the outline of the tubes 2 of the frame, and the rod 15 has a handle 16 in its middle.
The handlebars 6 can be either rigidly fixed to the extension 5 by means of two pegs 19 passing through corresponding holes in this extension 5 and the fork 11, and held in place by a key 18 passing through them, or articulated with this pro longement 5 by means of a single pin 19 (fig. 4). The bush 3 has a projecting part 20 (FIG. 4) pierced with a vertical hole in which engages a pin 22. The upper face of the head of the fork 7 is pierced with a hole 21 of corresponding diameter. dant to that of the pin 22. When the front wheel is oriented so that its axis is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the chassis, the hole 21 is brought into the extension of the pin 22 which, by engaging in this hole 21, then fixes the wheel in this last position.
The sleeve 4 has a projecting part 25 (FIG. 5) through which a vertical pin 26 engages .à. will either in a hole of a projection 27 of the fork head 9, or in a hole 28 of this head. Thus, the fork 9 can be fixed in place, either with the axis of the wheel transverse to the longitudinal axis of the chassis, or with the axis of the wheel parallel to this longitudinal axis. On each side of the platform, a piece of tarpaulin is sewn, on the one hand, on the edge of the platform and, on the other hand, to one of the rods 14 and 15. These fabrics each constitute a bag open when the rods are raised horizontally (fig. 3 and 6).
To transform the scooter into a cart, the procedure is as follows: 10 Remove the key 18 and remove the pegs 19 to separate the handlebars 6 from the extension 5, pin this handlebars on the. projection of, part 10 (fig. 3).
90 Raise the rod 15 by applying the shackle 16 to the outer tube of the handlebar and turn the key 23 to fix the rod 15 to the handlebar. The key is then locked by means of the sliding socket 24. The gui don is thus transformed into a drawbar (fig. 3).
30 Take the pin 26 out of the hole in the projection 27 and turn the forks until the axles of the wheels are in line with each other, then engage the pin 22 in the hole 21, and dowel 26 in hole 28, which fixes the forks in their new position.
40 Extend the drawbar fully by making the inner tube come out of the outer tube and fix these tubes in this position by the spring-loaded button 17.
From this moment, a package can be placed on the trolley thus formed. For small and numerous objects, the rod 14 is also raised and it is fixed to the drawbar by a rope 29 (fig. 3 and 6) passing over the objects.
To use the cart as a haquet for transporting long objects (boards, etc.), lower the rods, remove the ti mon, and drag the vehicle by a rope attached to the end of the load (fig. 7).
Hung behind a bicycle, by its drawbar, the cart becomes a trailer. The trolley can be used as an ambulance attendant for first aid in the mountains by sitting the injured person on the platform, leaning against the trin gle 14, and the legs suspended from the tiller. A lever brake 30 (fig. 2), pushed by the foot when one is standing, or by hand when one is seated on the saddle, acts on the rear wheel of the scooter.
