Fig. 1 ist ein schematischer Längsschnitt durch Schmelzofen, Beschickungseinrichtung, Druckkammer und Presskolben einer Ma- sehine mit seitlich des Schmelztiegels ange ordneter Druckkammer, Fig. 2 ein Querschnitt längs der Linie A-A der Fig. 1, Fig. 3 in grösserem Massstab ein Quer schnitt durch die Hubbegrenzungsvorrich tung für den Kolben der Entnahmevorrich tung; Fig. 4 ist ein Längsschnitt durch eine Pressgussmaschine mit unmittelbar über dem Schmelztiegel liegender Druckkammer, Fig. 5 eine Seitenansicht des Teils 55 in Fig. 4 ; Fig. 6 bis 10 sind schematische Darstel lungen verschiedener Stellungen des Füll und Presskolbens;
Process and device for processing easily oxidizable metals in die casting machines. When processing easily oxidizable metals such. B. Magnesium and its alloys, in die casting machines with a so-called "cold" pressure chamber arranged outside the crucible, when the metal is normally removed from the crucible using a hand scoop, the disadvantages are that the metal easily oxidizes on the way to the pressure chamber and that the protective cover on the surface of the molten metal in the crucible must be partially removed before the hand ladle is immersed,
whereby the metal in the crucible is also exposed to oxidation. Further disadvantages are the risk that harmful components of the protective cover with the metal get into the pressure chamber with the hand ladle, and that the metal or the metal residues adhering to the ladle can catch fire during work. All of these disadvantages have the consequence that the quality of the metal and the castings made from it is deteriorated by mixing with oxides and nitrites. This also causes disruptive interruptions in work, and the continued oxidation also causes considerable metal losses. Metal that can catch fire, e.g. B.
Magnesium, may also endanger the health and life of workers.
For processing magnesium in injection molding machines with a pressure chamber suspended in the crucible, devices have already been proposed in which the pressure chamber is surrounded on all sides by the molten magnesium. The molten magnesium is let inside the melt in the pressure chamber, which is open at one point but can be closed, and then pressed out of the pressure chamber by means of a suitable pressure medium into the casting mold arranged outside the crucible, avoiding contact of the melt with air.
In contrast, the invention relates to a method for processing easily oxidizable metals and alloys in die casting machines with a pressure chamber arranged outside the melting crucible and consists in that the amount of metal to be pressed is removed from the storage crucible under the exclusion of air by means of a device that always takes the same amount and removed from the storage crucible Pressure chamber is led to.
The method will be explained below with reference to the drawing, which provides various examples of Ansfüh approximately pressure casting machines according to the invention in schematic form, also for example.
1 is a schematic longitudinal section through the melting furnace, charging device, pressure chamber and plunger of a machine with a pressure chamber arranged on the side of the crucible, FIG. 2 is a cross section along the line AA in FIG. 1, FIG. 3 is a larger-scale cross section by the Hubbbegrenzungsvorrich device for the piston of the Entnahmevorrich device; FIG. 4 is a longitudinal section through a press casting machine with a pressure chamber lying directly above the crucible; FIG. 5 is a side view of the part 55 in FIG. 4; 6 to 10 are schematic representations of various positions of the filling and plunger plunger;
Add. 11 to 16 are similar representations of the piston positions in a machine with two compression pistons moved against one another; FIG. 17 shows, on a larger scale, the position of the press residue relative to the starter in a device according to FIGS. 11 to 16.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 3, the iron melting crucible 2 is removably inserted in the melting furnace 1 designed in a known form. The removal cylinder 3 protrudes so far into the melting crucible 2 that the inlet opening 4 comes to lie under the metal mirror 5. The metal mirror 5 is held at a constant height by known devices not shown in detail. The inlet opening 4 is conveniently located approximately in the middle of the melt, where it is known that las Me tall is poorest.
The cylinder 3 forms one piece with the locking channel 6: however, the parts can also be made up of several pieces. The removal cylinder and loading channel are covered by a hood 7 that closes the crucible opening.
The outside air is denied access to the cast metal by the hood 7. The heating gases that circulate around the crucible are passed over the hood 7 in order to achieve a possible even heating of the contents of the crucible as well as the parts lying above the metal mirror.
The melting furnace 1 is covered by an upper part 8: this has the task of guiding the heating gases in the desired direction and of reducing the heat radiation to the outside.
In the extraction cylinder 3, a piston 9 slides, which by rods 10 and 11 with the drive member, for. B. the power cylinder 12, with the interposition of the tab 13 is in connection. The upwardly extended parts of the rods 10 and 11 are designed as stop columns 14, 17. By means of the nuts 16, the stroke of the piston 17 in the cylinder 1? limited according to the amount of metal to be pressed.
In the feed chute 6. which has an expediently rectangular cross-section (FIG. 1). is the loading piston 1.8. It is driven in the direction of its axis by a power cylinder 19 via the lever? 0.
The task of the charging piston is to push the casting metal pushed by the piston 9 into the charging channel in front of it into the pressure chamber 31. The part of the charging channel 6 protruding from the crucible forms a mouthpiece 22 and is in corresponding recesses a tight fit in the pressure chamber 21.
The crucible 2 is provided with an edge bar 23 which forms a cavity with the upper part of the feed chute 6 and the cover hood 7. In this cavity 24 replaceable iron inserts 25, which contain the carnallite 26 or another gas-forming substance, are housed. When the carnallite is heated, vapors escape from the interior of the crucible 27 and, as a result of the negative pressure created by a vacuum pump, get into the interior between the joints and protect the casting metal from oxidation through their protective effect.
In its natural composition, the outside air cannot possibly hit the metal surface because the entry possibilities are very limited and the air must first pass through the heating gases in the furnace chamber 28 and then flow through the carnallite chamber 24 before finally reaching the inside 27 reach.
In the space 27 but indif ferente gases or vapors can also be passed from the outside with a slight overpressure.
To the plunger 29, which is connected to the power cylinder 30, an axially displaceable protective sleeve 31 is introduced. With the arm 32, this protective sleeve is connected to the power cylinder 33. It has the task, after the pressing residue has been ejected from the pressure chamber 21, to immediately close this and the charging chute 6 again from the outside air by moving downward so far that it hits the pressure chamber. The pressure chamber closed in this way can be made air-diluted and filled with inert gases. It can also be brought into connection with the interior space 27 through a pipe system.
With these measures the attack of the air on the casting metal should be kept away and a harmful oxidation avoided. The operation of the compression molding machine is as follows: The mold clamped in the compression molding machine, the lower part 34 of which is ersicht Lich in FIG. 1, is closed and brought into the ready-to-cast position. The protective sleeve 31 is moved downward by the power cylinder 33 so far that it rests on the pressure chamber 21 in an airtight manner. The interior is made air diluted and filled with inert gas, which also flows into the feed channel 6. The removal cylinder 3 is filled with metal. The piston 9 is raised by means of the power cylinder 12 until the stop nuts 16 abut the fixed stop 37 as a stroke limiter for the piston 17.
The piston 9 initially covers the opening 4 as it moves up and then pushes the metal stored in front of it into the charging channel 6 as it moves further. The amount of metal in front of the piston 9 can always be changed by changing and setting the nuts 16 precisely be dimensioned as it is necessary to form the pressed gas piece with the associated sprue and press residue.
Immediately after the end of the movement of the piston 9, the charging piston 18 pushes the metal stored in front of it into the pressure chamber 21.
The metal is now pressed by rushing down the piston 29 in a known manner. During this process, the piston 9 returns to its lower position and releases the inlet opening 4 so that the removal cylinder 3 fills up again. The charging piston 18 also returns to its starting position immediately after the pressing process has ended.
During the pres sens he keeps the mouth 22 closed so that the feed chute 6 remains pure from metal residues. With the retraction of the plunger 29, the protective sleeve 31 goes up and releases the pressure chamber opening 35; so that the residue can be ejected from the pressure chamber 21 in a known manner. The protective sleeve 31 then immediately rushes back down into the operating position.
After completion of the known work with the form, it is brought back into the casting position and the work is then repeated in the manner described.
In the device according to FIGS. 4 to 10, a charging chamber connected between the pressure and filling chambers is dispensed with and the pressure chamber is mounted directly above the crucible and connected to the filling chamber immersed in the casting metal. In this case, a counter-piston is also arranged opposite the plunger, which forms the pressure chamber base during pressing and is pulled out of the pressure chamber so far after the pressing process that the following plunger shears off the residue on the sprue and, as it moves in the same direction, from the Ejects pressure chamber.
Due to the elimination of a special loading channel, the construction and operating costs are reduced compared to the execution according to FIGS. 1 to 3 and an acceleration of the operation is achieved. Another advantage is that the pressure chamber always remains closed. It is also secured against the ingress of outside air while the residue is being ejected, in that the plunger remains in its outermost position until the residue is removed by a stripping lever.
The pressure chamber consists of two butt-jointed, hardened bushings, in the separating joints of which the sprue is incorporated. These sleeves are pressed into a common housing which is equipped with a cooling jacket to regulate the temperature of the pressure chamber, e.g. B. by means of circulating air or liquid speed, is surrounded.
The machine works as follows: The furnace 1 with the crucible 2 is in the operating position. The casting metal 40 has melted and is at the correct temperature for processing. The mold 41 is closed and is under the pressure of the power cylinder 42. The filling chamber 44 is filled with metal through the inlet opening 43 until the level is equal. The pistons 45, 46, 47 are in the position according to FIG. 6. The opposing piston 46 is under the pressure of the power cylinder 48, which is significantly higher than that pressure which acts on the plunger 45 and is caused by the power cylinder 49 becomes. The filling piston 47 moves rapidly upwards under the influence of the power cylinder 50. so let the casting metal resting on it be pushed into the pressure chamber 51.
The pistons 45, 46 and 47 are then in the position according to FIG. 7. Without delay, the plunger 45 moves quickly towards the sprue 52 through which the casting metal located in the pressure chamber 51 through into the mold 41 is pressed until it is completely filled (FIG. 8). The opposed piston 46 then rushes into its outer position (FIG. 9). The plunger 45 continues its movement against the sprue channel 52, initially shearing the residue 53 off the sprue and only comes to a standstill. when he is in the position of FIG. 9 he has enough. The press residue 53 has meanwhile left the pressure chamber 51 and is stripped from the press piston 45 by the stripper 54 via the lever 55 which is under the action of the power cylinder 56.
Immediately after the backward pivoting of the stripper 54, the opposing piston 46 touches the plunger 45 without a gap; Both pistons then move together, still covering the sprue 52, in the direction of the filling chamber 44. The opposing piston 46 then stops in front of the sprue 52 (FIG. 10).
Before the plunger 45 exposes the sprue channel by continuing its backward movement, the mold 41, after the finished casting with sprue has been removed from it, must be closed again so that no outside air through the sprue channel into the pressure chamber 51 can penetrate. Once this has happened, the plunger moves further backwards. At the same time, the filling piston 47 moves into its lower end position.
The exposure of the inlet opening 43 by the filling piston 47 must, however, follow before the plunger 45 releases the junction of the filling chamber 44 into the pressure chamber 51 so that the inflowing casting metal experiences a speed increase due to the vacuum prevailing in the filling chamber.
After the plunger 45 has reached its äusser ste position of FIG. 6 again, a new operation begins in the same way.
The pressure chamber 51 is double-walled, whereby a cavity 57 ge forms through which a coolant can circulate. This makes it possible to draw so much heat as quickly as possible from the casting metal flowing into the pressure chamber that it is converted from a completely liquid to a paste-like state.
All pistons 45, 46 and 47 respectively. the associated power cylinders 48, 49 and 50 and the power cylinder 56 of the scraper 54 are operated by a common control 58 in a prescribed rhythm.
As experiments by the inventor have shown, an even better and faster effect of pressing is achieved if the casting metal to be pressed and enclosed in the pressure chamber is pressed against the sprue channel by two or more pressing pistons moving against one another at the same time and pressed out of it into the mold . The casting metal is brought into the pressure chamber with the filling device described under the exclusion of air.
The latter is not limited during the pressing process by a fixed seal and a movable piston, but by two or more movable pistons, which are at the same distance from the sprue channel at the start of the pressing process and under the same pressure and at the same speed are moved in the opposite direction towards this, in such a way that the casting metal is pressed through the sprue channel into the mold at a correspondingly high speed and in the end position of the pistons the residue is in the middle position under the sprue channel.
The piston located on the side of the filling chamber is initially given a certain advance travel from its outer end position to each position in which it meets the opening of the filling channel or Filling cylinder covered in the pressure chamber.
In this position, the inner end faces of both pistons are equidistant from the center of the runner; From here on the pistons are moved evenly against the sprue channel, expediently from a common power source and by means of a common control.
Care is taken to ensure that the two piston movements are unconditionally interdependent in such a way that the influence of differently large frictional resistances occurring when the pistons slide in the pressure chamber and in the drive is rendered ineffective.
For example, the two opposing pistons can be connected to each other in the usual way by a lever system, with the help of which both the pressing movement and the backward movement with the interposition of cams or egzenter-shaped cam disks. can be initiated, which in turn sit on a drive shaft set in rotation by a power source of any kind.
Instead of the sen, both pistons can be actuated for the movements in both directions by stationary power cylinders, which also work via a lever system. Since these tools are known per se, a more detailed description is not given. Of these, the hydraulic drive is best suited for the present purpose, since the control is easier with regard to the operation of the two pistons described below.
This type of actuation ensures that the smallest possible amount of metal can be provided for the pressed residue, whereby it must also be ensured that the sprue comes to lie in the middle of the length of the pressed residue. The two plungers can be provided with adjustable stroke limiting devices. which prevent the pistons from looping over the sprue channel beyond their end positions and the sprue from coming to lie next to the center of the pressed residue.
The plunger pistons are expediently provided with cooling by means of cooling water or another suitable liquid, which is supplied to the interior of the piston through bores and whose circulation can be designed to be controllable in a manner known per se. This is intended to prevent any build-up of heat and any undesired expansion of the pistons caused by it.
A major advantage of this arrangement compared to the devices described first is that the piston path is reduced by half compared to the single-piston version with two pistons and a corresponding fraction with several pistons. Furthermore, the outflow speed of the casting metal in the sprue channel is increased considerably while the piston speed remains the same. This arrangement also results in a shorter and more compact design, which means that the components surrounding the pressure chamber can also be designed with smaller dimensions, that is to say in a correspondingly space and weight-saving manner.
The operation of the device is explained below with reference to FIGS. 11 to 17, which show the interaction of two plungers in the pressure chamber in the most important positions. The remaining part of the device can be designed as shown in FIG. 4, for example.
In the position according to FIG. 11, the filling chamber 59 is filled with casting metal through the inlet opening 43. The mold holding press rides the mold is closed and brought into operating position. The plunger 60 on the side of the filling chamber is in its outermost end position, in which it is removed by the distance c from the inner edge of the confluence of the filling cylinder into the pressure chamber 61. In order to require the shortest possible piston travel, the muzzle 62 is already partially covered by the piston 60 in the starting position. The filling piston 47 now moves upwards, initially covering the inlet opening 43 and conveying the semolina 63 lying on it into the pressure chamber 61 (FIG. 12).
After the casting metal has been brought into the space of the pressure channel 61 lying between the two pistons, the piston 60 is set in motion in the direction towards the sprue channel 52, initially covering the opening 62 completely (FIG. 13). When the piston 60 has assumed this position, the sprue channel 52 lies exactly in the center of the space 65 now limited by the pistons 64 and 60.
From this moment on, both pistons move in opposite directions towards the sprue channel 52 and thereby press the cast metal together. The speed of both pistons during this process is the same, and the pistons are also right. Strokes and the working pressures required for the pressing match.
Both pistons are connected to each other in such a way that they perform all movements together and simultaneously during the pressing process. whereby, as mentioned, hydraulic or mechanical drive can be provided.
After the mold has been filled through the sprue 52, the pistons 64 and 60 come to a standstill and take the position according to FIG. 14. Since the two pistons have carried out their pressing work completely uniformly in all parts, the sprue 66 is in this position exactly in the center of the pressing residue 67 (FIG. 17).
To prevent the two pistons from exceeding the desired end position, they are provided with stroke limiting devices. Such a Vorrich device is shown for example in Fig. 11 with the piston 60 and consists of a seated on the piston rod 68 collar 69, which in the end position against stops 70 on the machine frame and thereby brings the piston to a standstill when the press residue has reached the prescribed minimum size.
The other operations are essentially the same as those described above with reference to FIGS. 4 to 10 be. The piston 64 is moved outwards by a corresponding control, while the piston 60 now moves in the same direction until it has ejected the residue 71 from the pressure channel (FIG. 15). Then the piston 64 moves first and then with it the piston 60 according to FIG. 16 again to the right until both pistons have reached their starting positions according to FIG. In order to be able to regulate the temperature of the pistons precisely, inflow and outflow channels 72, 73 in the piston rods respectively. Piston provided through which a suitable cooling or heating medium can be passed (Fig. 12).
The sprue 52 of the pressure chamber 61 with connection to the mold can be arranged above, to the side or at an angle at any angle to the pressure chamber. All pistons 64, 60 and 47 respectively. the associated power cylinders are operated by a common control, not shown, in the prescribed rhythm.
