Vorliegendes.
C erhitzt.

Presentation of cl-es naphthostyril as described in Swiss Patent No. 122.813, mononitration of the same with the calculated: amount of nitric acid in acidic sulfuric solution, reduction; :
of the nitro body and conversion of the amino compound according to the present process, proceeds with almost theoretical yield.
The present. The patent now relates to a process for the production of 4-oxynaphthos tyril, which is characterized in that a mineral acid salt of 4-aminonaphthostyril is heated from water to temperatures of 1.50 to 200 C in Cregenwart.
The 4-oxy-naphthostyril obtained in this way is said to be used for the preparation of dyes and medicinal products.
It is a brownish yellow powder; it dissolves in soda solution and dilute alkali lye with deep red, in alcohol or glacial acetic acid with yellow color. It is obtained from glacial acetic acid as a yellow, very finely crystalline product (melting point 2.78 C with decomposition).
4-Methoxynaphthostyril (greenish yellow crystals, melting point 23.9 to 240 ° C. from alcohol) can be obtained by methylation.
Example 1: 182 parts of 4-amino-naphthostyril, obtained for example according to Journ. f. Practical Chemistry (2) 38, page 181 or by nitrating naphthostyril in concentrated sulfuric acid with the calculated amount of nitric acid and reducing the nitro product with iron and acetic acid, with about 1.2, 00 share normal,
Hydrochloric acid heated to 175 to .180 C for 3 hours in a closed vessel while stirring. After the cold one sucks off the deposited yellow-brown colored reaction product, with any unreacted starting material remaining in the solution.
For purification, the product obtained is dissolved in dilute, cold alkali lye, a small amount of insoluble impurities is filtered off and it is precipitated from the red filtrate with dilute acidic acid. After suction,
Washing and drying give 4-oxynaphthostyril in a very good yield as a brownish yellow powder.
The hydrochloric acid used can also be replaced by the corresponding amount of sulfuric acid with the same success.
Example 2 280 parts of the acid sulfate of 4-amino-naphthostyril are heated in 2500 parts of water in an autoclave to 190-200 ° C. for 5 hours.
The product sucked off after cold is, as described in Example 1 ', worked up and has the same properties as the product mentioned there.
The same result is obtained if, instead of the acidic sulphate, the hydrochloride of 4-amino naphthostyril is heated to 1.80 to 190 for several hours with water. C heated.
