Process for the preparation of a secondary polyazo dye. It has been found that valuable dyes are obtained if diazo compounds are coupled with 5-aminoquinoline or its nucleus substitution products with free 8-position, the aminoazo dyes obtained are further diazotized and combined with a coupling component.
The intermediate aminoazo dyes or the final dyes are optionally treated with metal compounds. The metal complex dyes obtained in this way are distinguished by their excellent lightfastness.
The present patent now relates to a process for the production of a secondary polyazo dye, characterized in that the diazo compound of 2-aminoanisol.4-sulfonic acid is coupled with 5-amiroquinoline and the diazo compound of the aminoazo dye thus obtained is coupled again in an alkaline medium the 2- (3'-Car-boxy- pheny larnino) -5-naphthol-7-sulfonic acid combined.
Example: 203 parts of 2-aminoanisole-4-sulfonic acid who diazotized as usual. The diazo compound runs into an ice-cold hydrochloric acid solution of 150 parts of 5-aminoquinoline with stirring. Sodium acetate is then gradually added until the solution has a weak mineral acidic reaction. After the coupling has ended, the aminoazo dye is isolated and, if necessary, redissolved for the purpose of purification.
The dye paste is then redissolved in water and diazotized further in the usual way. The diazo compound is then introduced into a solution of 400 parts of 2 (3'-carbogylphenylamino) -5-naphthol-7-sulfonic acid sodium to which 10% by volume of pyridine has been added. The coupling is quick.
The dye is then deposited by acidification, isolated by suction and freed from the mother liquor by washing with salt water. If necessary, it must be removed for cleaning.
The new dye is a dark powder when dried, which turns violet in water and in conc. Sulfuric acid dissolves green. He dyes cotton in purple tones.
If it is treated in a known manner with copper-releasing agents, it is converted into a metal complex dye, which is a clear one; very greenish blue with excellent lightfastness. Its solution color in water is reddish blue and conc. Sulfuric acid pure blue.
