Process for the preparation of a bisazo dye. In Swiss Patent No. 141537 and additives, a process for the preparation of azo dyes is described, it being that the tetrazo compounds of condensation products of primary amines and hydroaromatic ring ketones with 2 moles of the same or different azo components to form symmetrical or unsymmetrical disazo or polyazo dyes domes.
It has now been found that particularly valuable asymmetrical disazo dyes of this group are obtained if the tetrazo compounds of condensation products of hydroaroinatic ring ketones and amines of the formula are used
EMI0001.0019
where X is hydrogen or a methyl group, with one mole each of 2-oxynaphthalene-6.8.disulfonic acid and 1-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid.
The unsymmetrical disazo dyes obtained in this way are distinguished from the disazo dyes described in the above patents, even if they are made using one of the two azo components, ie either 2-oxynaphthalene-6.8-disulfonic acid or 1-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid are made by a number of good properties, namely the clarity of the hue, pure white etchability, reservation of acetate silk dyed at the same time,
as well as good milled and lightfastness.
With the new dyes, bright scarlet dyeings are obtained which have not previously been possible in the same hues and the same fastness with uniform azo dyes. The present process thus represents an enrichment of the technology. The present patent now relates to a process for the production of a disazolar substance, characterized in that
that the tetrazo compound of 4.4'-Diaininodiphenyl-l. l'-eyelohexane couples with each one mole of 2-oxynaphthalene-6.8-disulfonic acid and 1-oxynaphthalene-4-sulionic acid.
After isolation and drying, the dyestuff obtained in this way forms a red, water-soluble powder and dyes wool or silk in bright scarlet shades of good millfastness and lightfastness, as well as pure white etchability. example:
-26.6 parts 4.4'-diaminodipbenyl-1. l'-Cyclohexane is tetrazotized with hydrochloric acid and sodium nitrite in the usual way at 00 0 . Then at 0 to -5 0 C with the addition of sodium chloride by coupling with 36 parts of 2-oxynaphthalene-6.8-disulfonic acid in alkaline soda Receiving means of intermediate bodies.
After the coupling has ended, this is filtered off, washed with salt water and made into a paste again with ice water. For this purpose, a solution is allowed to run in front of about 24 parts of 1-oxytiaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid and the coupling is completed in the presence of sodium carbonate at ordinary temperature.
