Motor vehicle chassis. The present invention relates to a motor vehicle chassis. This chassis is characterized in that, at least for the driving wheels, the members which guide the wheel in rotation around its axis are carried by a part which can, by a movement comprising a rotation around another axis, take at least two positions relative to the actual frame, so that this actual frame is at different heights above the ground, depending on whether the aforementioned part is placed in one or the other of these two positions.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the device, object of the invention, applied to an agricultural tractor provided with four wheels, two of which are driving and two steered.
Figs. 1 and 2 are side elevational views in two different positions and FIG. 3 is a plan view showing a position in dotted lines; Fig. 4 is a section along IV-IV of FIG. 2, on a larger scale; Fig. 5 is a section along V-V of FIG. 4; fig. 6 is a section along VI-VI of FIG. 3, on a larger scale.
The tractor 1 has two driving rear wheels 2 and two front steering wheels 3. It can be seen that in fig. 1, the tractor body is closer. of the ground than in fig. 2. These two positions can be obtained at will, according to the needs of the cultivation work or the inclination of the ground. For this, we move the axes of the wheels relative to the frame. In the example shown, this movement can be done both for the steering wheels and for the driving wheels, which is necessary, if it is a question of leaving a free space under the tractor so that it does not touch. to cultures.
When it is only a question of lowering the tractor for reasons of stability, it may be sufficient, in certain cases, that only one of the two pairs is movable, so that the center of gravity can be lowered.
In fig. 1 and 2, as in fig. 3 in solid lines, the axis 5 of the driving wheels is in front of an axis 4, the position of which, relative to the frame, is invariable. In the plan view of FIG. 3, there is shown, in dotted lines, a position of the rear wheels, in which the axis 5 'is behind the axis 4, the device which will be described also allowing the wheelbase of the vehicle to be varied. tractor.
We see in fig. 4 that the axis 4 is that of a shaft 6 which receives its movement from the differential gear, not shown; this shaft carries a pinion 7 which meshes with an internal toothing 8, integral with the rim 9a carried by a wheel body 9, the hub of which is designated by 9b. The pinion 7 could also mesh with an external toothed wheel which would be carried by the hub 9b and replace the toothing 8.
The hub is mounted by its bearings on a shaft 10, of axis 5, integral with a plate 10a which bolts 11 attach to a flange 12b. This flange belongs to a trumpet 12 serving as a casing for the shaft 6 and is eccentric with respect to the axis 4 by a constant quantity, before its periphery concentric with the axis 5. This flange carries a gasket on its periphery 12th which joins inside the rim 9a.
The trumpet 12 has a collar 12a fixed to the frame 14, with a cover 15, by means of screws 16 passing through holes 17 of the collar of the trumpet, holes which are twelve in number in this example, which makes it possible to give the trumpet twelve different angular positions around the axis 4. The shaft 6 carries a brake drum 19 which cooperates with a brake lever 18 which actuates a cable 20, not sant through a notch 13 of the cover key 15, which carries one of the bearings of the shaft 6, while the opposite end of the trumpet bears the other bearing of this shaft.
Although the bolts 16 have been shown in the section of FIG. 4, the axis 5 is wedged with respect to the holes 17, so that it can occupy twelve positions around the axis 4, six above the horizontal passing through the axis 4, and six below , like six forward. and six back. The two positions which correspond to differences of fifteen degrees on either side of the horizon, are here about twelve centimeters apart. Fig. 6 shows the mounting of the steered wheels 3 by a section of the right wheel, mounted symmetrically with the left one at the ends of a rigid cross member 21.
This cross is articulated at the front of the frame around a longitudinal axis pin, so that this cross member can be placed parallel to inclined terrain, when the tractor is traveling on the side of the hill.
This cross member has its ends bent downwards and machined so as to receive the shaft 22 of a spindle 23. This shaft 22 is vertical and parallel to the plane of the wheel 3, the shaft 23a of which is horizontal, the axis of this shaft 23 passes as usual behind the shaft 22 of the rocket for the effect, "hunting" or automatic recall of the steering organs. The torque which results from the fact that the shaft 22 is not located in the median plane of the tire, is compensated by a torque in the opposite direction due to the same cause and being exerted on the left wheel connected to that of right by the steering rods. To preserve this effect when the rockets are turned over, they are exchanged at the same time for each other.
The rocket 23 is shaped so that it can be turned upside down; for this, the arm 26, on which the steering rod is articulated, can be dismantled and has a lug 26a which penetrates into a size of the rocket. The shaft 22 is formed by a bolt, by means of which the arm 26 and the spindle 23 are firmly assembled.
Note that the shaft 23a is located on the spindle, so that, when the latter is turned over, it changes height with respect to the transverse 21, and that the spindle presents, at its lower end , in fig. 6, a notch intended to receive the lug 26a of the arm 26 when the rocket has been turned over after dismantling the arm 26.
One can thus elevate the tractor as well to. front and rear, and here things are set so that turning the rocket lifts the tractor to the same height as the shaft 4 is displaced when it passes from the position of the fig. 1 to that of FIG. 2, height which is only a part of the maximum displacement of the shaft 4. To make a greater change in height at the front, it is possible, among other things, to replace the cross member 21 with another, whose ex tremités would be farther from the central ankle of articulation. We can still preview see several of these anchors fixed at different heights on the frame.
