Comparator micrometer. The object of the invention is a comparator micrometer, more particularly, but not exclusively, for checking parts and timepieces.
This micrometer comprises a palmer posed attractive a fixed stop and a movable stop so lidaire of a micrometric screw which can be actuated by a friction control device, an indicator needle movable opposite a graduation, and an auxiliary control mechanism allowing to operate the indicator needle alone or together with the micrometric screw.
According to the invention, this auxiliary control mechanism comprises a cam wedged on a rotating rod making it possible to communicate to the cam a rotational movement, and a lever controlled by the cam and intended to actuate the indicator needle, this lever being able to be connected organically and at will to the micrometric screw, so that the latter receives a rotational movement from the cam. This mechanism enables the kinematic relationship between the indicator needle and the micrometric screw to be established or broken quickly and very easily, while at the same time achieving, thanks to the use of a cam, a gentle and sensitive control.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows it in front elevation; Fig. 2 is a section taken along line II-II of FIG. 1; Fig. 3 is a plan projection of FIG. 1; Fig. 4 shows a section along the line IV-IV of FIG. 3.
On a platform 6 is fixed a palmer of a known type of construction and of which one distinguishes the base 7 and the usual members comprising a fixed spindle 8, a micro-metric screw 9 with its feeler nose 11 which can be formed by a removable cleat , the fixed cylinder 13 bearing a millimeter graduation, the drum 14 wedged on the micrometric screw and bearing a graduation allows measurements to be made with precision. equal to a hundredth of a millimeter, and a button 15 for the friction control of the micrometric screw.
On the latter is wedged a rocking wheel 16, in which can be engaged a knife 17 mounted on a lever 18 pivoted to the platform 6. This knife allows to immobilize the micrometric screw in a precise and predetermined angular position, at using the graduations of cylinder 13 and drum 14.
The auxiliary mechanism is combined with the palm and comprises an indicator needle 19 freely pivoted on a pillar 21 fixed to the platform 6. The arrow of this needle can move opposite a gra duation 22 traced on a blade 23 fixed on the platform 6 using two screws 24 limiting the angular movement of the guille 19.
The graduation 22 makes it possible to assess, using the needle 19, whether a part to be checked, engaged between the probes 8 and 11 of the palmer, meets or does not meet the prescribed dimension including the accepted tolerance. The divisions of the graduation indicate hundredths and half-hundredths of a millimeter. The middle position of the needle corresponds to the exact prescribed dimension.
To this end, the needle 19 is subjected to the action of a return spring 25 (torsion spring) which constantly tends to press the heel of the needle against one of the arms, 26, of a rocker pivoted at 27 and the other arm 28 of which rests against a lever 29 pivoted on the micrometric screw 9. On this lever 29 is mounted, by means of a fixed sleeve 31, a roller 32 fitted on a lateral rod 33 of the socket 31.
A coil spring 34, attached to the free end of the lever 29, constantly tends to rotate this lever and keep the ga let 32 in contact with the ramp of a cam 35 wedged on a rotating rod 36 provided with 'a button 37 allowing the cam to be turned by hand. The members 26, 28, 35 and 36 are mounted on a support 38 fixed on the platform 6.
The coil spring 34 dominates the return spring 25, which has the effect that, when the rod 36 is rotated in the required direction, the cam 35 lifts the lever 29 against the spring 34, so that the rocker 26, 28 must follow the movement of the lever 29 under the action of the return spring 25, which determines a pivoting movement of the needle 19. b'Iais as soon as the manual action ceases. the button 37, the spring 34 returns all these members, including the rod 36, to their respective original position, against the return spring 25 dominated by the spring 34.
The retrograde rotational movement of the cam 35 and of the rod 36 occurs by the reaction of the roller 32 on the ramp of the cam, which ramp behaves like an inclined plane.
The lever 29 is fixed to a sleeve 29 'mounted freely on the micrometric screw 9. To prevent this sleeve, respectively the lever from moving axially on the screw 9, a forked flange 39 is provided (not shown in FIG. 3). , fixed to the support 38 and the branches of which are arranged on either side of the socket 29 '.
This bush carries a setting screw 41 making it possible to fix it on the micrometric screw, so that the latter is organically connected to the cam 35 and controlled by it together with the needle 19.
The palmer can be used alone, as a micrometer. To do this, the set screw 41 must be loosened.
To use the micrometer as a comparator or as a gauge for checking large series of watch parts, timepieces, etc., screw 41 must be loosened, then the probes 8, 11 must be moved to the distance. exact corresponding to the dimension. (prescribed dimension) of the parts to be checked. This operation can be done using a gauge or a standard which is engaged between the probes, or else only by means of the button 15, so that the palmer shows exactly the prescribed dimension.
Then, we pledge the knife 17 of the lever 18 in the ratchet wheel 16 to immobilize the micrometric screw 9, while the needle 19 is brought, using the button 37, to the line 0 of the scale 22 and tighten the set screw 41.
The micrometer being thus adjusted for the control of a determined dimension, one moves away from the ratchet wheel 16 the knife lever 18, 17 and one can start with the operation of the control.
Each part to be checked is brought between the feelers 8, 11, and in contact with the latter, by the actuation of the button 37 which simultaneously controls, via the cam 35, the micrometric screw 9 and the needle 19. The angular movement of the needle 19 is proportional to that of the micrometric screw 9, so that the needle sharply sharpens, by a strongly amplified movement, the lack or excess of dimension of the part engaged. between the probes. The graduation 22 corresponding to the tolerances allowed, the operator will realize immediately, by observing the angle of deflection of the needle, whether the part checked is receivable or not.
The general arrangement of the constituent parts, as well as certain construction details of the object of the invention may differ from the example shown in the drawing. However, the control of the micrometric screw by the cam 35 will preferably be constructed in such a way that the manual action on the button 37 operates the backward movement of the micrometric screw, while the forward movement of this screw. takes place under the action of the return spring 34, during the retrograde movement of the cam 35.
