Process for the preparation of a new monoazo dye. According to the present invention, a new monoazo dye is obtained by coupling diazotized 2: 4-dinitroaniline with edema from the condensation of 1 molecule of m-toluidine and approximately 4 moles of ethylene oxide.
Example: 183 parts of 2: 4-dinitroaniline are diazotized in a concentrated sulfuric acid solution with the aid of nitrosylsulfuric acid in a known manner. The aqueous solution of the diazo compound, which was obtained by pouring the sulfuric acid solution into ice and water and filtering, is slowly added to a solution of 283 parts of the product in 4000 parts of water at 0 to 5 ° C., which is obtained by condensation of 107 parts of m- Toluidine and 4 equivalents (176 parts) of ethylene oxide he was kept.
While keeping the temperature below 5 C at the same time, a 40% aqueous caustic soda solution is added in such an amount that the coupling medium still reacts slightly acidic on Congo red paper. When the coupling is fully pulled, the dye suspension is made alkaline with caustic soda, and the dye is filtered off, washed with water and stored as a paste or dried in any suitable way.
The dye is conveniently used on acetate rayon by the process described in British Patent No. 224077. A reddish purple color with good strength properties and etchability is obtained.
The coupling component used in the example is prepared in the following way: A mixture of 107 parts of m-toluidine, 176 parts of ethylene oxide and 0.5 parts of 10% aqueous sodium hydrogen hydroxide is heated to 140 ° C. in a closed vessel until the internal pressure is zero has fallen. A pale yellow liquid is obtained which dissolves in hot water.
