Elastic feedback regulator. Regulators with elastic feedback of various types are known per se. The experiences made with the feedbacks known so far have shown that in some cases the characteristics of the feedback cannot be adequately adapted to the characteristics of the control process. An example is the elastic returns known up to now in temperature controllers for ovens or the like. pointed out.
With these controllers, it is known to take a longer or shorter time, depending on the operating conditions, until the change in the supply of heating energy in the furnace, caused by a pulse from the controller, has an effect, i.e. until the substances in the furnace have changed. fated heating energy supply have assumed a correspondingly changed temperature. From a mathematical point of view, the characteristics of the control process of such a temperature controller represent an exponential function.
With the elastic feedback systems known up to now, it was extremely difficult to take into account such a control characteristic running according to an exponential function, in particular the constant fluctuations around the desired control setpoint that are undesirable in practice in a relatively short time by setting the return characteristics accordingly. to make ristics impossible.
The invention solves this problem in a regulator with elastic feedback, in particular for regulating the physical state of a gaseous, vaporous or solid medium, in an operationally safe manner, with relatively simple means. According to the invention, the characteristic of the control process is simulated by the characteristic of a thermal return, which corresponds to the impulses of the controller. is heated.
The advantages of the new controller are particularly evident if you consider its application for the above-mentioned example of temperature control of a furnace. In this example, it is possible, please include the heated parts of the thermal feedback of the new controller to some extent, to train as a thermal image of the furnace, in particular with regard to the speed of the heat transfer, in order to create the possibility of the operating conditions of the furnace through ent Speaking training of the thermal feedback to take full account.
- The coincidence of the heating of the thermal feedback with the impulses of the controller in the new device can advantageously be achieved by making the duration of the heating of the thermal feedback dependent on the deviation of the pulse generator from the control setpoint.
This can be done, for example, by arranging an additional temperature-sensitive resistor or a thermocouple on the resistors used to heat the feedback, and this additional resistor or the thermocouple is used to influence the zero point of the pulse generator.
Furthermore, for precise adaptation of the return characteristics of the ther-. mix recirculation both the heating energy supplied to the thermal recirculation and its cooling rate can be optionally adjusted, expediently by hand. The setting of the thermal energy supplied to the thermal return can be done in particular with the help of controllable resistors which are connected to the heating circuits for thermal return guided via the control contacts of the pulse generator.
To selectively adjust the cooling rate of the heated parts of the thermal return, it is advisable to arrange a heat exchange of these parts with the environment he difficult screen or the like ver adjustable. Exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a schematic overall picture of a first embodiment, the Arbei th by the graph of Figure 2 he is explained; FIG. 3 illustrates a second embodiment of the invention, part of which is shown in more detail in FIG.
A third, particularly simple execution. Approximation form of the invention is illustrated in Fig. 5 ver.
In Fig. 6 is another embodiment example of the invention in connection with; a gas or vapor discharge tube (Stromtor).
According to Fig. 1, an electrical temperature controller is chosen as an example, which keeps the Tem temperature of an oven 1 at a certain prescribed target value. For this purpose, a resistance thermometer 2 is installed in the furnace 1, which is located in a branch of a bridge circuit 3. The bridge galvanometer 4 serving as the pulse generator is equipped with a drop bracket 5 which is raised and lowered intermittently by a cam disk drive 7.
If the pointer 6 of the galvanometer 4 deviates to the left or right from the gap 8 between two step-like stepped contact pieces 9 and 10, it is pressed by the drop bracket 5 onto one of the steps of the contact piece 9 or 10, so that the relevant contact piece closes the associated control contact 11 or 12.
By means of the control contacts 11 and 12, an adjusting motor 13 for clockwise or counterclockwise rotation is switched on, which either opens or closes a valve 14 located in the fuel supply line to the furnace 1, depending on the direction of rotation.
The previously described, known device does not take into account the delay in the temperature curve in the furnace 1, which depends on the one hand on its more or less large thermal inertia and on the other hand on an increase or reduction in the fuel supply by Ver position of the valve 14 takes effect as a temperature change in the oven only after a certain period of time.
In order to detect this delay for the regulation, the elastic feedback described below is provided.
In the bridge circuit 3 nochcin additional potentiometric control resistor 1.5 is switched on, which is installed in the example in a U-tube 16 filled with about half of mercury. The two ends of the resistance wire 17 are connected to two bridge arm resistors, while the middle of the resistance wire is connected to the galvanometer 4 by means of a lead 18. At the top, the two legs of the U-tube 16 are connected to two gas-filled spaces 19 and 20.
A heating resistor 21 and 22 is installed in each of the two gas spaces 19 and 20, the heating circuit of which is routed via the control contacts 11, 12 on the pulse generator 5, 6. In the circuits of the two heating resistors 21 and 22, adjustable resistors 23 and 24 are provided for setting the heating currents. In addition, a wedge-shaped screen 25 can be pushed in more or less far between the two gas spaces 19 and 20, which, depending on its position, makes the heat exchange between the chambers more or less difficult.
The operation of the device shown is as follows: The contacts 9 and 10 with the Re gel contacts 11 and 12 are set to the desired setpoint each Weil. This sem setpoint corresponds to a certain Stel development of the valve 14. If a temperature change occurs in the furnace 1, z. B. a temperature decrease, the pointer 6 makes a rash, the size of which depends on the extent of the temperature decrease. For example, it will come to stand over the second stage of the contact piece 10. When the drop bracket 5 goes down next, the pointer 6 is then pressed down onto the second step of the contact piece 10 and the rule contact 12 is closed.
As a result, on the one hand, the control motor 13 is switched on in such an order that it opens the valve 14 in the case of play, and on the other hand, the circuit for the heating resistor 21 is closed. The length of time the motor 13 and the heating resistor 21 are switched on depends on the size of the pointer deflection. For example, it can be between 2 and 10 seconds.
As a result of the opening of the valve 14, more fuel than before is used to heat the furnace 1, and also the gas in the space 19 will expand and thus the mercury column in the U-tube 16 will decrease in the left leg and in the right leg climb. By shifting the mercury column, a reversal of the deflection of the pointer 6 will act. If the control contact 12 is interrupted, on the one hand the adjusting motor 1.:3 is stopped and on the other hand the Ileizwider- stan.d 21 is switched off.
The gas space 19 will consequently cool down again through heat exchange with its surroundings, in particular with the adjacent gas space 20. The cooling rate depends essentially on the position of the screen 25. This cooling of the space 19 results in a decrease in the mercury column in the U-tube 16, which in turn reverses the displacement of the galvanometer 4.
The return movement of the mercury until it reaches the position shown now runs, viewed over time, according to an exponential function, that is, according to a curve which corresponds to the temperature change in the furnace 1 when the fuel supply changes. Since the same regularity exists between the heating process in the furnace and the cooling in the gas chambers 19 and 20 and can still be fine-tuned using the screen 25 and possibly also using the control resistors 23 and 24, it can be seen that the work is done ten of the controller can be easily adapted to the operating conditions.
As a result, the controller only responds when it is really necessary, and also the control variable - regardless of the. Delay - the temperature change is proportional, which means that the desired setpoint temperature in the furnace is maintained without swinging.
To explain the operation of the return device 15-25, Fig. 2. In this water is on -the ordinate axis downwards and upwards, the resistance value of the halves of the wire 17 lying in the two legs of the U-tube 16 conditions. The times are plotted in minutes, for example, on the abscissa axis. The curves a and b represent the charac teristics of the return for different contact times, if the one heating resistor, z.
B. 21, was turned on, and curves c and d the characteristics of the feedback for two other contact times when the heater 22 is switched on. The curves a and b can, for example, con tact inputs of the control contact 12 for four and ten seconds and the curves c and d contacts of the control contact 17. of two and eight seconds correspond chen.
As can be seen, all four curves run according to an exponential function. The point of intersection of the curves with the abscissa axis means the moment at which the displacement of the galvanometer 4 caused by the feedback device has just been reversed.
The embodiment according to FIG. 3 differs from that according to FIG. 1 essentially only in that instead of the resistance wire 17 located in a mercury U-tube 16, two temperature-sensitive resistors 26 and 27 are switched into the bridge circuit 3.
The two temperature-sensitive resistors 26 and 27 are in this case surrounded by a heating coil 29 and 28, as can be seen in more detail in FIG. Over each of the resistors 26 and 27, a tube 30, which is pointed wedge-shaped towards one end, can be pushed away more or less. This allows the cooling speed of the temperature-sensitive resistors 26 and 27 to be adjusted.
The temperature-sensitive resistors 26- and 27, when their heating windings 28 or 29 are switched on intermittently, again cause a zero point shift of the galvanometer connected to the diagonal branch of the bridge circuit, and this zero point shift is reversed again by the feedback device .
If desired, each of the two temperature-sensitive resistors 26 and 27 with its heating coil 29, 28 in the form of wires can be wound into two coils and these coils can be arranged in a space filled with hydrogen, e.g. B. a glass bulb.
In addition to the simplicity of the structure and the possibility of setting largely any characteristics for the recirculation device, this also has the advantage that its work is practically independent of the outside temperature, in contrast to the known recirculations with oil dampers and the like, which are often quite annoying Have temperature dependency of the return time.
The setting of different return speeds by means of the parts 25 (Fig. 1 and 30, Fig. 3) is generally only necessary if the object of the control, in the examples the material brought into the furnace, is changed, be it that you want to treat other materials or different amounts of one and the same material in the oven.
The new device can also be used for controllers that work with gas or vapor-filled ion tubes, so-called current gates. In this case, the grid of the power gate is expediently influenced both by the pulse generator and by the feedback.
The invention is not limited to electrically operating controllers, but can also be used for other controllers. If, for example, an expansion body serves as a pulse generator, such as a rod that closes a control contact, a second rod with an additional heating controlled by the control contact can be arranged as a feedback device in such a way that the second rod makes contact influenced in the opposite sense.
The idea of the invention is particularly easy to apply to regulators with mechanical measuring systems. An example of this type is illustrated in FIG.
A pressure gauge 31 is connected on one side to a pipe 30 'through which any gas, vapor or liquid medium flows. The pressure gauge 31 is coupled to the contact type 33 by means of a rod 32. The contact arm 33 and its mating contacts 34 and 35 are switched on in the excitation circuits of the field windings 36 and 37 for clockwise or counterclockwise rotation of a Re gel motor 38, the bevel gears 39 a lift valve 40 in the pipeline 30 ', depending on its sense of rotation, more or less opens or closes.
The design of the controller described so far works in such a way that, in the event of any pressure changes in the pipe line 30 ', the pressure gauge 31 adjusts the contact arm 33 either to the right or to the left, depending on whether the pressure in the pipe increases compared to the control setpoint or decreases. By adjusting the contact arm 33, either the contact 34 or the contact 35 is touched by the contact arm and the field winding 36 or 37 of the motor 38 is thus supplied with current. The motor 38 then adjusts the valve 40 in the sense of reversing the pressure change.
In order to apply the invention to this known version of a controller, the thermal Rückfüh tion with the contact arm 33 is directly coupled. The structure of the thermal return is as follows: By means of lines 42 and 43, two heating coils 44 and 45 are connected to the contacts 34 and 35, which heat the thermal return. In the example, a cylindrical corrugated pipe 46 is seen as an essential part of the thermal return, the openings of which are covered by plates 49 and 50 coupled to one another by screw connections 47, 48.
The edges of the bell tube 46 are attached to the plates 49 and 50. In the interior of the corrugated tube 46 there is a partition 51 which is coupled to the contact lever 33 in an articulated manner. In addition, there is a small amount of a slightly vaporizing substance 52 in the two spaces formed by the partition 51.
The mode of operation of the thermal feedback shown is as follows: If, for example, the pressure gauge 31 actuates the contact 33, 35, the heating coil 45 is supplied with current via the line 43. It heats the space in which it is located, and as a result of the evaporation of part of the substance 52, the vapor pressure in this space changes compared to the vapor pressure in the space of the heating coil 44. This pressure difference causes the partition 51 to shift and thus an adjustment of the contact arm 33 in the sense of the interruption of the contact 33, 35.
The situation is correspondingly when contact is made at 33, 34 and den3 - correspondingly, heating takes place through the heating winding 4-1 which is switched on in this case. The only difference is that the direction of adjustment of the contact arm 33 is reversed as before, so that the contact 33, 34 is interrupted.
With the help of the variable resistors 23, 24 in the lines 42, 43 you have it in hand to set the heating current strength in the windings 44 and 45 to the desired value and thus at the same time the return time of the thermal return and the size of the return movement to the operating conditions set accordingly.
As a further means for setting the desired return characteristic, a connecting line 58 is provided between the two spaces formed by the partition wall 51, the effective transverse of which. section can be optionally set by actuating a throttle element 54.
Any liquid with a low boiling point can be used as the readily vaporizable substance 52, for example. Instead of the mechanical pressure meter 31, other mechanical measuring systems, such as temperature meters, quantity meters, tension meters, etc., can also be provided. Furthermore, it is also possible not to couple the thermal feedback to the contact arm 33 but to the two mating contacts 34 and 35.
In this case, the two mating contacts 34 and 35 are to be arranged on a rotatably mounted plate which is mechanically coupled to the partition 46. The heating coils 44 and 45 are again switched in such a way that the contact at 33, 34 or 33, 35 caused by the mechanical knife 31 is canceled again by adjusting the counter-contacts 34 and 35 accordingly.
Finally, it is also possible, instead of the contact arrangement 33, 34, 35, to use any other parts known per se, for example bolometers, photocells or the like. In such an embodiment, a cover plate is to be arranged in place of the contact located on the contact arm 33, which is located between a pressure medium flow or radiation and the bolometer resistors or a photocell arrangement.
The advantages of the new device can also be used well for controllers that do not have a contact instrument. By eliminating any contact, the construction of the new facility will naturally not be immeasurably simplified and its operational reliability will also be increased. An example of this type, in which a gas or vapor discharge tube (current gate) is used, is illustrated in FIG.
An alternating voltage is applied to the terminals 60 and is connected to the auxiliary grid 63 of a gas or vapor discharge tube 64 (current gate) with the aid of a capacitor 61 and an ohmic resistor 62. By appropriately adjusting the parts 61 and 62, it can be achieved that a current flows constantly in the tube 64 between the cathode 65 and the anode 66. In the example shown, this current flows through the winding 67 of an electrically heated furnace 68.
The furnace temperature is monitored by means of a temperature-dependent resistor 69 which is connected to the control grid 72 of the tube 64 via a bridge circuit 70 with the aid of a transformer 71.
For the purposes of the invention, the thermal feedback is now also applied to the control grid 72. For this purpose, two further temperature-dependent resistors 73 and 74 are switched on in two adjacent branches of the Wheatstone bridge circuit 70. The two resistors 73 and 74 have different thermal inertia and are built into a container 76 on both sides of their common heating coil 75, which represents a reduced, thermal image of the furnace 68. The different thermal inertia of the resistors 73 and 74 can be achieved either by having both resistors in different forms, for.
B. the one as a straight wire and the other as a spiral wire, or that you, as shown, between the stimulus winding 75 and the one resistor; z. B. 73, a cover 77 is arranged. In parallel to the heating coil 75 lying constantly in the anode circuit of the tube 64, a control resistor 78 is also provided, which is used to set the desired sensitivity.
The operation of the regulator shown is as follows: The current flowing through the tube 64 and the furnace winding 67 is adjusted with the aid of the capacitor 61 and the resistor 62 so that the desired normal temperature (control setpoint) is set in the furnace 68.
If the furnace temperature now changes upwards or downwards, the resistance value of the temperature-dependent resistor 69 also changes at the same time, as does the current in the diagonal branch of the bridge circuit 70. As a result of this change in current, a change in the potential of the control grid 7 2 is brought about via the inductive coupling 71, which in turn results in a change in the current flowing through the tube 64 and the furnace winding 67. The change in the current in the furnace winding 67 takes place in such a way that the deviation from the setpoint value is thereby reversed.
In order to prevent overregulation or oscillation around the desired control setpoint in the control system considered so far, the current of the heating winding 75 of the thermal feedback, which is in series with the furnace winding 67, will also change with every deviation from the control setpoint. This change in the current strength in the heating coil 75 of the thermal feedback initially acts as a different heating of the resistors 73 and 74. For example, if the current in winding 75 increases, resistor 74 is heated more than resistor 73 for some time.
As a result, the difference between the two resistors 73 and 74 acts in the bridge circuit 70 for some time, with the result that the influence on the potential of the control grid 72 and the tube 64 by the resistor 69 cannot immediately equalize. Only after some time will the resistance 73 of the thermal feedback assume the same temperature as the resistance 74 and thus the influence of the potential of the grid 72 by the temperature-dependent resistors 73 and 74 cease until the next change in the furnace temperature occurs.
The device shown is particularly suitable for those cases where the operational changes in the physical state of a medium, in the example of the gas filling of the furnace, are operationally slow, as is often the case for the temperature in an electric furnace.
The new design of the controller has the advantage that under such operating conditions in an operationally reliable manner without overregulation or even oscillation around the control setpoint, this is automatically maintained with a relatively high degree of accuracy.
