Process for the production of thin-walled glass bulbs for electric incandescent lamps. The invention relates to a process for the production of thin-walled glass bulbs for electric incandescent lamps, in particular for motor vehicle headlights.
It has already been proposed that the Kol ben of motor vehicle headlight lamps made of yellow glass according to the known procedural ren for the production of this glass herstell len. However, this method has proven to be unsuitable because it is impossible to manufacture bulbs by this method, which have the very small thickness required for the glass of headlamps.
The subject of the invention is a method which enables the manufacture of thin-walled flasks made of yellow glass. Incandescent lamps equipped with such bulbs emit glare-free light that is able to penetrate dust and fog better than the usual headlight lamps. Thin-walled pistons are predominantly to be understood as pistons with a wall thickness of the order of magnitude of 0.6 mm, with fluctuations up to a maximum of 507o being permitted.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that cadmium sulfide and sulfur are added to the mixture of the basic materials of the glass. The flasks can be manufactured in such a way that the glass melt obtained from the starting material mixture is given the desired shape at the lowest possible temperature and the glass is then heated again, with a temporary cooling taking place before the latter treatment.
The glass melt can be given the desired shape, for example by blowing. Once removed from the mold, the piston can be used without removing \\ erdc @ ii. (-hee kept in the open air for a short time -that it can be placed in an oven, -clirbed, in which it remains until the glass has turned a light red color.
After the flask has been naturally cooled, it turns the desired yellow color.
The mixture of the starting materials of the glass can, for example, have the following composition:

<tb> Metallic <SEP> antimony <SEP>. <SEP>. <SEP>. <SEP> 0.015 In an improved method according to the invention, the composition of the mixture of starting materials is changed in such a way that.
stannous oxide and selenium are also added.
The composition can also be changed in such a way that the mixture contains a small amount of sulfur in relation to the amount of the cadium sulfide pine.
Such a change in the composition of the glass has the consequence that immediately after the shaping of the glass melt and after the piston has cooled down, the latter assumes the desired yellow color. The heat treatment can therefore be omitted, so that the process is simplified to a considerable extent.
The mixture of substances can be composed, for example, as follows:
