Machine for the production of straw or chips. The present invention relates to a machine for the production of straw or chips, in particular wood straw or wood chips, but it can also work other raw materials than wood.
This machine is characterized in that it has a working chain carrying or tils intended to debit the raw material from the. straw or shavings and set in motion, on a frame, by driving wheels, along a partly semicircular and partly rectilinear course, and devices placed opposite the rectilinear parts of the chain, ensuring the advancement to the tomatic of the raw material to be cut, against the tools carried by the chain, so that this. material is transformed into straw or shavings when moving the chain.
The tools intended to cut the material may be scoring devices, for example circular or linear knives, and cutting devices, for example blades.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of a machine according to the invention for the production of straw or wood chips, from logs.
Fig. 1 is a view of one of the two faces of the machine, part in section; Fig. 2 is a plan of the machine, part in section along the line A-B of FIG. 1; The fi-. 3 is a side view of the machine without the working chain carrying the scoring and cutting devices; Fig. 4 is a view of a detail of this chain; Fig. 5 is a section of this detail; Fig. 6 is a view of a construction detail of one of the chains of the multi-gear advancement devices; Fig. 7 is a plan of part of this chain of multiple gears;
Fig. 8 is a sectional view of a detail of a link in the worker chain, with a view of one of the scoring devices; Fig. 9 is a partial view of an incision device.
We will first consider FIGS. 1 and 2 of the drawing. 1 is the frame on which is mounted the working chain 2, which is actuated by the motor shaft 3, on which are mounted the two wheels 4, 5 having cavities 6 for driving the working chain \ ?. which, at the ends of each of its articulations 7, carries rollers 8 which perfectly adapt to the cavities 6. On the same motor shaft 3 is mounted a flywheel or gear 9 which receives the energy necessary to actuate the machine.
10, 11, 12, 13 are the devices for advancing or feeding the wood 14, 15 to be transformed into straw or wood chips, this wood being pushed by means of cylindrical gears and chains 16, 17; 18, 19; 20, 21; 22, 23 against blades mounted on the working chain 2 on both sides of the machine. The upper parts 10, 12 of the advancement device are fixed to the frame 1, while the lower parts 11, 13 can be raised and lowered by means of screws 24, 25 to adjust the working distance according to the different lengths of the wood. .
We can see in fig. 1 and 2 the automatic devices 27, 26, actuated by a double gear 28, and the chains 29, 30 which, in turn, impart the movement to the two in gears 31, 32 and consequently, by means of the small shafts 33 , 34, to conical couples 35, 36 (fig. 3) connected to shafts 3 7 which, by means of worm screws 38, 39, 40, 41 (the latter being visible in fig. 3), turn the devices in the desired direction and at the desired speed to obtain the various thicknesses of the wood chips.
In fig. 1, we see one of the two semi-circular chain tensioning segments 42 which, not only serve as an internal guide for the working chain, - by means of screws 43, 44, which are on the visible side, and two others which are on the opposite side, but still serve to give the desired tension to the chain. The extensions 72, 73, 74, 75 of the advancement devices serve as a support for a piece of wood which is advanced by means of a counterweight and chain device of any type not shown and having for aim to push the wood in the direction indicated by the arrows and precisely towards the mouth of the cylinders. 70 is a window through which straw or wood chips are poured.
The plan of the. fig. 2 shows in a particularly visible way the construction of the frame 1, as well as of the working chain 2 comprising the rollers 8 engaged in the appropriate cavities 6 formed in the two driving wheels 4, 5 mounted on the driving shaft 3 , on which are also mounted the flywheel 9 and the double chain gear 28, which engages a friction cone 45 actuated by the small handwheel 46. This figure also shows the chain gears 31 and 32 actuated by the chains 29 and 30, as well as the advancement devices 10, 12 and their method of assembly with the frame 1 by means of guides 81, 82, 83, 84.
We see in fig. 3 of the longitudinal guides 47, 48 on which the working chain 2 moves in a plane by its rollers 8, tan say that in its lower part this chain moves on the two semi-circular segments 42 movable in the vertical direction ser - also before chain tensioners. Fig. 3 also shows the devices for automatically advancing the wood, as well as the mechanism. corresponding maneuver 24, 25, which is seen from the front, and the device for transmitting the movement of the motor shaft 3.
to chains 5 2 of the advancing devices by means of pairs of bevel gears 35, 36 of the shaft 37 of the worm screws 40, 41. Referring to FIGS. 1, 3, 6 and 7, we see gears 54, on which are mounted the chains 52, we also see side guards or slides 76, 77, 78, 79 serving to guide the wood, as well as the top. 49 and the base 50 of the fluted trays on which the wood is transported.
The big. 4 and 5 are views of three links 5.5 of the worker chain 2; 7 are the axes or joints. 8 the rollers mounted at the ends of these axes, 67 are the blades, 87 the fixing screws of these blades, 80 the wood incision devices, 63 the fixing plate of these incision devices, 88 the slot by which comes out the wood chips 71. The arrow 69 indicates the direction of movement of the chain. The devices 80 can be constituted by circular knives or. linear. arranged so that their cutting edge is perpendicular to the blades 67.
These knives are parallel to each other and are spaced appropriately depending on the width that we want to give to the straw or to the skins. These devices 80 can be fixed or rotary. The chain 51 shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 is provided with teeth 52 and is mounted on two multiple gears 54. The teeth 52 carried by each link are intended to hook the laws to be processed.
Figs. 8 and 9 are views of a link 55 of the working chain ?, link comprising a groove 60 in which the incision devices 80 are mounted; 61 is the fulcrum of the toothed plate 63 which serves to fix the incision device to the link 55 by means of the screws 65; 56 is the small central shaft comprising a longitudinal key 57 and on which sounds:
alternately threaded the circular blades 58 and the washers .'39 which comprise a flat 601 on which the plate 63 presses on the toothed side to prevent any contact with the circular blades 58, and another flat 62 only allows with the circular blades to come out of the plane of the link 55 by the distance corresponding to the depth of the incision that is to be made in the wood.
The operation of the machine is as follows: if the motor shaft 3 is turned to. a suitable speed in the direction indicated by the arrow, the working chain 2 is obliged to follow the path of the longitudinal guides 47, 48 passing, at the bottom, over the two chain tensioning segments 42 and then following the rear part to return to a ux conductive wheels 4, 5; a partly rotary and partly rectilinear movement is thus imparted to the incision devices 80 and to the cutting blades 67, which are applied alternately to the links 55 of the working chain 2.
The timber advance devices 10, 11, 12, 13 which, in this case, are applied on both sides of the machine, serve to push the logs, in the direction of the arrows, against the positive devices incision 80 and the blades or cutting tools 6 7 of the worker chain 2, these blades coming out of each link of the chain up to a distance equal to the thickness that is desired for the wood chips .
The incision devices 80 make on the wood, by their small circular blades 58, scratches with a depth corresponding to the thickness of the wood chips, the interval between one wool and the other corresponding to the width. that we want to give to the wood chips, so that the cutting tool 67 detaches from the wood, on the surface thus prepared, a certain number of ribbons or bands (straw or wood chips) instead of a sheet .
In practice, the circular blades of the incision devices are separated from each other by distances greater than the width that one wishes to give to the wood chips, to prevent the strands from tangling between the different blades, the desired width of the wood chips can be obtained by means of several incision devices offset laterally with respect to each other, this also having the aim of saving energy and reduced blade wear.
The wooden trunks are placed on the protrusions 73, 75 in sufficient number to fill the space throughout its length; they are then pushed, by means of a counterweight pusher and. chain, not shown, against the two chains 51 arranged at the lower part and at the upper part and which are a few millimeters closer to each other than the distance between the ends of the trunks themselves, so that the wood entering between the two chains 51 is strongly clamped between the teeth of the latter, so that it cannot be pushed back when it comes into contact with the working chain 2,
these chains 51 being supported by gear cy linders and by fixed supports 85 on which they rest so as not to release the grip made on the wood by the teeth 52 of the link of the chain 51.
The advancement of the wood is automatically regulated and can vary in speed in order to obtain different thicknesses, either by changing the chain gears which determine the movement, or by means of a change of speed. fixed in which all required speeds are already set. As can be seen from the drawings, the movement is imprinted by the motor shaft 3 and it is transmitted by means of chain gears and bevel gear pairs to the shafts provided with worm screws which transmit the movement. to helical wheels set on geared cylinders, then to chains 51, in the direction indicated by the arrows.
