Process for the preparation of a lead compound of a sulfhydryl keratinic acid. According to the process of the main patent, starting materials containing keratin are hydrolyzed with acids to a gelatinous state, reduced with zinc, the hydrolysis liquid blunted to a weakly acidic reaction, the white zinc compounds which precipitate are separated off by filtration, washed out,
decomposed with hydrogen sulfide and the gold compounds produced from the sulfhydryl keratin acids obtained in an aqueous solution.
According to the present invention, the corresponding lead compounds are produced from the sulfhydryl keratinic acids in the same way.
The in the production of gold respectively. The sodium nitroprusside reaction to be used in silver compounds does not completely disappear when the corresponding lead compounds are produced. According to the invention, the binding capacity of the sulfhydryl keratinic acid is first determined by titration with silver nitrate and the amounts of lead salt equivalent to the silver are then added to the aqueous solutions of the sulfhydryl keratinic acid. The solution turns yellow and cloudy, with a slight excretion occurring.
Complete precipitation of the lead compound formed can only be achieved by adding ethyl alcohol.
Example The sulfhydryl keratinic acids produced according to the main patent are first titrated with silver nitrate solution until the sodium nitroprusside reaction disappears. 1 gram of sulfhydryl keratinic acid in a 20% aqueous solution consumes 0.2 gram of silver nitrate = 0.12 gram of silver.
5 parts by weight of sulfhydryl keratinic acid are dissolved in 25 parts by weight of water. 1.1 parts by weight of lead acetate (the amount corresponding to the silver consumed) dissolved in 6.25 parts by weight of water are added to this solution. The solution turns yellow, becomes cloudy and finally gives only a weak nitroprusside sodium reaction. Then sodium hydroxide solution is added until a weakly alkaline reaction is achieved and the solution is stirred into six times the amount of alcohol, the sodium salt of the lead compound precipitating out. The precipitated light-colored product is filtered off with suction, washed off with alcohol and dried in vacuo.
The compound contains an average of 17-18% lead and is said to be used mainly to combat tumor diseases.
