Process for the production of printing forms for stuff and paper printing. The direct copying of patterns or text and image combinations on cylinder could not be carried out successfully until today, because it was not possible to create the contact between the copy film and the printing cylinder required for a good copy. Likewise, efforts have been made to apply endless patterns, such as those used in wallpaper printing and stuff printing, to the printing form by direct copying, which, however, was also not possible due to the lack of the necessary contact.
It was therefore necessary to engrave the patterns into the cylinder manually, or to choose the well-known pigment transfer method. Nevertheless, it was not possible, for example, to produce endless, repeating patterns without any gaps without the end and the beginning of the copy becoming noticeable as a so-called annoying seam.
The purpose of the present invention is to print forms for stuff and paper printing, for example those with endless patterns, as they are used in stuff and wallpaper printing, to be transferred to the printing plate carrier by direct copy and without annoying seams.
The method according to the present invention produces negative or slide films with textual or pictorial representations. For copying, placed around a print form carrier provided with a light-sensitive layer (for example a roller or plate clamped on a roller) and pressed against the same with the help of a transparent tape. This pressing creates intimate contact with the printing plate carrier.
In the following it is shown with reference to the accompanying drawing how the method can be carried out for example.
Fig. 1 shows an embodiment, wel che expediently used for copying endless patterns. Here, the copying film 2 is placed around the light-sensitive printing form carrier 1 in such a way that the patterns close on one another precisely without a seam and are applied to the cylinder and fastened by gluing. A tape 3, by means of which the image film 2 is pressed onto the printing form carrier 1, is attached over the copy film. Naturally, this band must be transparent, so it will consist of a translucent film in order to enable the light to act on the printing form carrier.
For the exposure of the printing form carrier 1 .sind lamps 7 are available, which be found in shut-off screens. By means of these shut-off diaphragms that are distanced from one another, the rays of each lamp are concentrated on a specific area of the carrier 1, so that several simultaneous partial exposures are obtained in this way.
The compilation of the negative or slide-positive films with textual or pictorial representations, for example for a magazine with images and writing, takes place in a known manner on the illuminated assembly table after joining the required pages. The copier films for endless printing, for example stuff printing, wallpaper printing, etc. a. are created by combining the same image several times.
The copier films 2 assembled in this way are placed around the printing form carrier (roller or curved plate or foil) provided with a photosensitive emulsion and, as already mentioned, pressed onto the printing form carrier by a transparent band overlaid with a foil 3. The exposure then takes place during the rotation of the printing form carrier by the action of the lamps 7.
After copying has taken place, the pressure film and the image film are removed and the printing form carrier is developed in a known manner and made ready for printing according to the purpose.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the copying film 2 is also placed around the printing form carrier 1, while a transparent film 3 is unrolled over the copying film from roller 4 and rolled up by roller 5. The roller 5 is driven by a motor; however, the roller 4 has a braking device through which the tension of the pressure film can be regulated.
The roller 6 also serves to regulate the tension and it is advantageously pressed resiliently against the pressure film. Instead of the roller 6, another pressing device, for example a resiliently influenced strip, can act on the pressing film. The printing forme carrier 1 is not driven itself, but is taken along by the movement of the pressure-sensitive film.
3 shows a method in which the copy film 2 is connected to the transparent tape 3 by gluing and is thus moved with the tape from roller 4 to roller 5. The generation of the tension of the belt 3 is the same as in the embodiment of FIG. 2 FIG. 4 shows an embodiment of the method in which the copy film \? and the printing plate carrier 1 during the rolling of the transparent film 3 from roller 4 and the rolling up through roller 5 by the movement: the film is carried along.
This version is best suited for copying image and text compilations for newspapers, catalogs <B> ETC. </B>
For copying on rollers, slit exposure has been known so far, in which the light can only act on a narrow point, which corresponds to part of the surface to be copied, so that a long time is required for the exposure.
In order to shorten the copying time, it was proposed, instead of the slit exposure, to expose a larger part of the entire cylinder surface at the same time. 5 shows the radiation of the light from three series of lamps 7, from which it can be seen that the elements to be copied are also exposed from the side instead of only from above, so that a sharp and etchable copy cannot be achieved.
With the copying process indicated in FIGS. 1 to 4, it is possible to copy several separate areas at the same time, whereby the copying time is shortened several times over, and by limiting the light bundles, the rays have an oblique effect on the document to be copied avoided and thus obtained with sharp reproduction
Instead of the spaced exposure fields indicated in FIGS. 1 to 4, fields that connect to one another can also be selected.
