Description
Process for the production of a new azo dye. It has been found that a new azo dye suitable for the production of light blue tones with high lightfastness and excellent etching properties on cellulose ether or ester materials is obtained if dianotated o-chloroaniline is mixed with 2:
5-Dimethoxyaniline couples, the resulting Aminoazoverbinduno dianotiert and couples in an acid medium with 1-ß-hydroxyethyl amino-5-naphthol. The second coupling is expediently carried out in an acetic acid medium.
Example: The solution obtained in the usual way by dianotation of 127.5 parts of o-chloroaniline is made from a solution of 153 parts of 2: 5-dimethoxyaniline in 370 parts of 10% strength aqueous hydrochloric acid and 6000 parts of water at 100% > added. When the combination is complete, the aminoazo compound obtained is dianotized by adding 72 parts of sodium nitrite and the mixture is stirred at 10 ° C. until the dianotation is complete. The diazo-azo compound remains in solution.
This solution is then added to a solution of 203 parts of 1-p-Hydrogyäthylamino-5-naphthol in 370 parts of 10 0% strength hydrochloric acid and 8000 parts of water. The combination occurs quickly and the insoluble dye is precipitated. The suspension is made weakly alkaline by adding sodium carbonate and the dye is filtered off, washed with water and stored as a dough; it can also be dried in a suitable way.
It dyes cellulose acetate in light grayish blue tones, which have a high lightfastness; and when etched with the usual etching pastes, excellent white tones result.
