Description

Additional patent to main patent no. 169696. Process for the production of an azo dye containing earring. It has been found that vain chromium-containing azo dye can be obtained from the azo dye which is formed by coupling monobrominated 1- diazo-2-oxyiiaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid and 2-oxyriaphthalene if this azo dye

a chromating agent and an organic compound containing hydroxyl groups in a caustic alkaline medium act on one another.

The chromium-containing dye obtained is a gray-black powder which dissolves in water with a blue color. It dyes wool from organic acid-sulfuric acid bath in real navy blue tones.

Example: From 16.5 parts of an 8 % chromium oxide hydrate paste, corresponding to 1.33 parts of CroOs, 27 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution and 2 parts glycerine, a chromite solution is prepared into which 12,

4 parts of the azo dye from inotto-brominated 1-diazo-2-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid and 2-oxyriaphthalin. The reaction mass is diluted with 20 parts of water, heated with stirring for 6 hours to 80-90 0 and then for 2 hours to 90-100 ' . The new electricity-containing dye separates out when the reaction mixture is neutralized with highly dilute sulfuric acid.

The same dye is obtained if, instead of treating the azo dye with those complex compounds that are formed by the action of hydroxyl-containing organic compounds on caustic alkali see Ohromhydroxydstisperisionen, chromium salts, and excess caustic alkalis together with the hydroxyl-containing organic compounds and the azo dye .
