where x denotes hydrogen, halogen, alkyl or aryl and R denotes an aromatic radical, condenses, whereby as a result of the ring closure mostly differently colored products are formed and the condensation products obtained in this way may be sulfated. The condensation can, for example,
As for example in the German imperial patents no. 253091 and 253761 and in the Swiss patents no.148120, 151966 and their additives indicate by heating for itself or before geous in high-boiling solvents in the presence or absence of Metal chlorides or oxidizing agents or both together or, for example, according to the method of Swiss patents No. 169958, 169959, 169960 (8, 9, 10th addendum to patent document No. 151966) in the presence of acylating agents, advantageously in high-boiling solvents , be performed.
The condensation can also be effected by the process of Swiss Patent No. 156123 and additives in concentrated sulfuric acid, oleum or chlorosulfonic acid with simultaneous sulphonation.
The new unsulfated products can either be used directly as pigment dyes or for coloring rubber, or they can be converted into water-soluble dyes by sulfation, with the acylamino groups (for example the acetylamino, benzoylamino, toluenesulfamino group) being retained or wholly or partially saponified can be.
The sulfonic acids can be converted into insoluble salts which are suitable as pigment dyes.
The subject of the present patent is a process for the preparation of an oxazine dye, which consists in that one obtainable from chloranil and monoacetyl-1,4-diaminobenzene condensation product of the following formula:
EMI0002.0021
condensed by heating and sulfated the so he obtained condensation product.
Example: 20 parts by weight of the condensation product from tetrachloroquinone (chloranil) and monoacetyl-1,4-diaminoberizole of the following formula:
EMI0002.0027
are boiled in 300 parts by weight of nitrobenzene in the presence of 18 parts by weight of benzoyl chloride for 8 hours. After he cold, the deep purple colored reac tion mass is filtered and the residue washed with alcohol and dried. The new dye is a copper-red, metallic shimmering powder that dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid in a pure blue color.
If this solution is poured onto ice, a blue precipitate separates out, which turns red-violet on addition of sodium hydroxide solution. The dye dissolves very little in hot organic solvents such as chlorobenzene and toluene. The solutions show nice fluorescence. 6 parts by weight of the substance obtained in this way are stirred into 20 times the amount of sulfuric acid with 20% anhydride content. The mixture is heated to 85-90 within 4 hours and kept at this temperature until a sample is soluble in water. Working up is carried out by pouring onto ice. Part of the new sulfonic acid is deposited in the form of a deep blue colored mass.
The precipitation is completed by adding common salt. It is then filtered and washed neutral with sodium chloride solution. The result is a water-soluble dye that turns cotton from neutral bathtub purple. The colors are characterized by good lightfastness. The dye contains about two sulfo groups.
