Process for the preparation of an ilonoazo dye. It has been found that valuable red monoazo dyes are obtained by using the diazo compounds of the bases of the general formula
EMI0001.0004
wherein R, an alkyl, aralkyl or hydroaromatic radical, R .. an alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or hydroaromatic radical be, with 1- (29 '. 3'-Oxynaphthoylamino)
- 2.4-dimethoxy-5-chlorobenzene or with 1 (? '. 3'-Oxynaphthoylamino) -2'. 5-dimethoxy-4-chlorobenzol couples, whereby the diazo components should not contain any solubilizing groups, for example sulfonic acid or carboxyl groups. The dyes can be made in a known manner on the fiber, in. Substance or on a substrate and are characterized not only by great liveliness but also by very good fastness properties.
The bases encompassed by the above formula can be obtained, for example, by the action of 9-nitrotoluene-4-sulfochloride on suitable dialkyl, alkylaryl or alkylaralkyl amines and subsequent reduction or from the 2-nitrotoluene-4-sulfonic acid monoalkyl Amines, or the corresponding monoaryl, -aralkyl or hydroaromatic amines by alkylation and reduction.
The subject of the present patent is a process for the production of a mono- a.zo dye, which is characterized in that the diazo compound of 2-aminotoluene-4-sulfonic acid dimethyl amide with 1- (2'.3'-oxynaphthoylamino) -2 .4- dimethoxy-5-chlorobenzene couples. The two components can also act on one another in the presence of a substrate.
The dyestuff produced in substance forms a red powder that dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a red-violet color and, if produced on the fiber, delivers a vivid red of very good fastness to washing, chlorine and lye and excellent fastness to light.
Example 10,7 -r 2-aminotoluene-4-sulfous acid-dimethylamide are diazotized in the usual way. The diazo solution mixed with sodium acetate to bind the excess hydrochloric acid is then stirred into a solution of 17.9 grams of 1- (2 ', 3'-oxynaphthoylamino) -2.4-dimethoxy-5-chlorobenzene in dilute sodium hydroxide solution . The precipitated dye is filtered off, washed well and dried. It is a red powder that dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a red-violet color.
The lacquers produced in the usual way are completely oily and deliver lightfast red tones. The coupling can also be carried out in the presence of a substrate suitable for displaying color lacquer. In particular, the dyes are also suitable for coloring rubber goods, as they are vulcanization-resistant.
